“Penn. Mayor Lou Barletta … authored a City ordinance that called for the enforcement of US laws, ….”
Libby, I don’t know the cause of this, but I can tell you when I was working Los Angeles, we had a series of Homicides tied to the Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang. We worked up enough evidence to obtain a series of search/arrest warrants. MS 13 had a large membership consisting of Illegal Aliens, when we did large warrants like this, we brought INS along, (I know they are called something else now)
We werent deporting people reporting crimes or contacted as witnesses, hell, we needed them for court. But La Raza came to the aid of criminal gang members, who were here illegally, and the City went along with it. Tell me Libby, if you could prevent one murder of an innocent person, would you?
La Raza pitched a fit; the liberal City Council precluded us from enforcing immigration laws or even calling Immigration agents. My feeling was that it was an unlawful order, but it was done. So you are, again wrong, sometimes political meddling prevents laws from being enforced. You are right; it is nonsense that an action like this should be necessary. But you are wrong that it would never be necessary. And if there is hypocrisy, isn’t it on the part of the one who would make this necessary?
Oh, and by the way MS 13 is now nationwide. Wouldn’t it have been nice if some of the compassion for their victims in Southern Cal, could have prevented this murderous gang from becoming so powerful?
