Mad About Sarah, by Byron York – The Hill

Wendy Doniger, the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions at the University of Chicago Divinity School, wrote that Palins greatest hypocrisy is in her pretense that she is a woman and denounced the Republican Partys cynical calculation that because [Palin] has a womb and makes lots and lots of babies she speaks for the women of America. *** Carol Fowler, the chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said that Palins primary qualification seems to be that she hasnt had an abortion. *** Juan Cole, professor of modern Middle Eastern and South Asian History at the University of Michigan, wrote that Palins values more resemble those of Muslim fundamentalists than they do those of the Founding Fathers and asked: What is the difference between Palin and a Muslim fundamentalist? Lipstick.

Byron York concludes: She really did take on the Republican political establishment in her state. She really did take on the Democrats. She really did take on the oil companies. She really does have a sky-high approval rating. And she did it all by starting as a concerned citizen without any connections. Its quite a story. (emphasis mine)

And Im here on Post Scripts to say she didn’t need to tie herself to a man or to an organization of “good old broads” to break that glass ceiling. She didn’t have to promote a partner first and wait in the wings for her “turn” to shine…she just took it. Her effectiveness is what has the elitists flummoxed. How in the world could someone like her who didnt graduate magna cum laude from an elite north eastern school, who didn’t play the social games, and who hasn’t known all the “right” people take on these behemoth organizations…and win? In their carefully tailored minds that’s just not possible. Her out of the box successes make their own favored candidates look insignificant by comparison.

There was a time when elitists would have refered to Sarah Palin as uppity and demanded that she know her place! They’ve tried hard over the years to convince the world of their tolerance and inclusiveness. But a day of revelation has now come. Their ugly underbelly has been exposed. The nation has embraced Sarah Palin and rejected the snearing jabs of leftist elites. And Sarah? She’s got a ticket to ride, and she dont careMY SARAH DONT CARE!

Remember by Choosing to Serve

ATTACKS_TRADE_CENTER_NJDH106_20010912014237.jpegPosted by Tina

As I thought about what I might do to commemorate this special day I came across an article…a letter really…from David French who is serving our country in Iraq. I hope you will read, Why Not Join the Fight:

It is now seven years since the towers fell. Seven years since Congress sang God Bless America on the Capitol steps. Seven years since our grief turned to rage, and a tidal wave of patriotism swept the land.

9/11 THOUGHTS (really worth reading)

“Crazy people who still think the government brought down the Twin Towers in a controlled explosion have to stop pretending that Im the one whos being nave. How big a lunatic do you have to be to watch two giant airliners packed with jet fuel slam into buildings on live TV, igniting a massive inferno that burned for two hours, and then think, well, if you believe that was the cause Stop asking me to raise this ridiculous topic on the show and start asking your doctor if Paxil is right for you.” Bill Maher, talk show host

“The cost of airport security ($9 per passenger) is 1000 times higher than for railway security ($0.01 per passenger), even though the number of attacks on trains is similar to that in planes. This is analogous to committing mammography resources to screening only the left breast, and ignoring the right side, even though cancer can affect both breasts.” Elizabeth Linos, security research scientist

One Possible Explanation

Cannabis linked to earlier psychosis onset Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Researchers from Spain have found a strong and independent link between cannabis use and the onset of psychosis at a younger age. The association, they say, cannot be explained by chance, and is not related to gender or the use of other drugs. It is, however, related to the amount of cannabis used. *** “The clinical importance of this finding is potentially high,” Dr. Ana Gonzalez-Pinto from Santiago Apostol Hospital in Vitoria, and colleagues write in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, given that cannabis use is extremely prevalent among young people.” *** The researchers also report that “estimates of the attributable risk suggest that the use of cannabis accounts for about 10 percent of cases of psychosis.”

Psychosis – profound disorganization of mind, personality, or behavior that results from an individual’s inability to tolerate the demands of his social environment whether because of the enormity of the imposed stress or because of primary inadequacy or acquired debility of his organism especially in regard to the central nervous system or because of combinations of these factors and that may be manifested by disorders of perception, thinking, or affect symptoms of neurosis, by criminality, or by any combination of these

This might just explain the quality of some of the discourse in our current political process…boomers and their kids have arrived on the scene!

Trusty Old Farmers

Warning…this may come as a shock to some of our green gardening friends…

Dublin, N.H. – The Old Farmer’s Almanac is going further out on a limb than usual this year, not only forecasting a cooler winter, but looking ahead decades to suggest we are in for global cooling, not warming. Based on the same time-honored, complex calculations it uses to predict weather, *** …a study of solar activity and corresponding records on ocean temperatures and climate point to a cooler, not warmer, climate, for perhaps the next half century.

Spare Us the Phony Outrage

Posted by Jack Lee

By now everybody has heard that Democrat Barack Obama said something about a pig in lipstick is still a pig and this was offensive to the McCain campaign because it was taken as an inference against Palin. Specifically because of her comments where she said the difference between herself as a hockey mom and a pitbull is

Obama – the Infant Candidate?

by Tina Grazier

I ask if Obama is an infant candidate because it seems his political memory begins at the Bush/Gore election. Today he said something about people being tired of candidates being defeated by “swiftboating”. Ha! He should be talking to his own party. Does he not recall the “Borking” of Robert Bork, the Vile hearings (on trumpted up charges) of Clarence Thomas, the intimidation and smearing of all of the women Bill Clinton ahem, forced himself upon, just to name a few?

By the way…the swiftboat vets were inspired to do what they did because they felt John Kerry was misrepresenting his war record…they were first person witnesses…they had earned the right to speak about what happened. They were also nonpartisan, acting on their own inspiration and independent from the Republican Party.

Swiftboating, if it means anything, should be defined as a spontaneous act of free expression…and nothing more.

The Donation Trap – It’s Worse than Feeding the Park Pidgeons

by Jack

39-cash-pile-notes.gifAbout 8 years ago I sent McCain a donation because I liked what he said about taking bribe money out of politics, i.e., big donations used to buy favors. From that time till now I bet I have received no less than 30 pieces of mail requesting more money. And since July of this year I get at least one request every week asking me for more money! This guy hits me up for spare change more than my own kids!
