The invitation was met with wild enthusiasm by one 92-year-old WWII hero:

“I want to come hopping, skipping and jumping!” said 92-year-old Spann Watson, an airman from Westbury, N.Y., who flew above Pennsylvania Avenue for President Harry Truman’s inauguration. “We had a part in changing these United States.”

They certainly did! It was ordinary people like these incredible airmen who deserve the majority of the credit for changing attitudes, breaking down barriers, and opening the chances for equal opportunity in America.

IN 2007 President Bush presented the Congressional Gold Medal to about 300 Tuskegee Airmen at the US Capitol rotunda in Washington DC. 180px-Tuskegee_Airmen_%2B_US_Congressional_Gold_Medals%2C_2007March29.jpg

I solute these veterans and Barack Obama for honoring them in this special way.
