State of the Union Speech is Tonight

by Jack Lee

Tonight President Obama will give his State of the Union speech. It is expected to be long and boring, but it should meet with a lot of approval. Why? Because there’s something for everybody in there. If you can endure all the blah, blah, blahs, he’s eventually going to get around to your favorite subject. And for that, you will be titiliated, or so says those who help create the William J. Clinton style of speech giving: Talk long enough and you are bound to acknowledge most hot issues and be praised for it!

After President O is done, we’ll get a chance to hear from the GOP and this year their speaker will be Congressman Paul Ryan (see left). Ryan is affable and very articulate (you can say that about white people without being accused of being racist) and he understands the economy.

House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement, “Paul Ryan is uniquely qualified to address the state of our economy and the fiscal challenges that face our country.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell praised Ryan’s “unique understanding of the fiscal problems we face.” This is good for the Dems because we told a large part of President O’s speech is on the economy. Congressman Ryan looks like an up and comer in the GOP, so we’ll be watching him closely.
