Libya Civil War in Brief

It’s been difficult to get reliable news on Libya because there are so few journalists in-country. Kadafi warned them they would be treated as terrorist collaborators if captured, which is another way of saying they will be shot on sight.

As of right now 0917 hours, 24 Feb.. 2011, it appears that most of the eastern section of Libya has been surrendered to rebel forces and the fighting could be in Tripoloi within the next day or two. Battles are raging in key cities encircling Kadafi’s stronghold in Tripoli. Zawiya is the gateway to the capitol city and it’s at least half in control in the rebel forces.

Kadafi vows he’s not leaving and that his last drop of blood will be shed in Libya. Rebels say that is their goal as well.

Communication within Libya has been virtually shut down.

Just based on how our dictator is handling Libya, I would say this is a great thing for Libya and the world. Clearly our dictator is in the tank for their dictator. Who knows maybe this getting rid of dictators will catch on over here.

One could only hope – actually I think if gasoline goes to $5 a gallon even his democrats allies will turn on him.

Sure was odd that it took Obama such a long time to come out against the killings in Libya. Do you think he wanted to be sure he didn’t go against world opinion? I mean this really took him a long, long time and it was a no brainer. It’s like taking a stand against pedophiles, do you really have to think it over? Well….apparently Obama does, he’s such a clueless novice in chief.

Honestly, you guys are not just ignorant you are blind to.
Obama is not a dictator, he was democratically elected and until he manipulates an election like bush did (twice) he shall remain a democratic leader. Plus if he was then for spewing this filth you surely would have disappeared by this point or publicly executed. If you think the country will revolt over gas being $5 a gallon then you are simply an idiot. These people in the middle east are revolting because they are starving and until people in this country are that desperate (not anytime soon) they are too lazy and blind to do such. BTW our gas prices rising are the result of OPEC and the oil companies not the president. Finally since you haven’t realized this yet; world politics is not as simple as black and white. He has to think about how people will react to his opinion something the BUSH administration did not do. Furthermore, Libya is on full media lock down which means no info is getting out. Read the article better next time and please remove head from sphincter before ranting on concepts you clearly do not understand because it only makes you look like a moron.
Please, take some solace in knowing that Jesus does love you, everyone else thinks your a shmuck…

Ian, not sure where these comments of yours are coming from? Toby jokingly referred to Obama as a dictator because of his management style, we don’t really think he’s a dictator. We do a lot of tongue in cheek commenting here…don’t take it too literally.

Who thinks the country will revolt over $5 gasoline? Nobody said that Ian, you are reading into things again. However, gasoline at $5 a gallon won’t get Obama any votes.

Gasoline prices on the rise are due to OPEC and unstable world markets, AND …AND IAN THEY ARE DUE TO OUR DEPENDENCE ON IMPORTED OIL AND OUR FAILURE TO DEVELOP OUR OWN OIL RESOURCED AND THE FAILURE TO ADEQUATELY USE ALTERNATIVE FUELS. PRESIDENTIAL POLICY HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THE LATER.

Great leaders measure world opinion as one of the lessor considerations in significant decision making. The primary reason should be is it the right thing to do, followed by, is it a compelling issue of great national security and then all the rest of the reasons. Putting world opinion at the forefront of decision making would be rather STUPID wouldn’t it, Ian?

Libya is on a news lock down, but news is still coming from there. So we’re confused by what you meant??

You lecture us telling us ever so condescendingly that we clearly don’t understand what you do. But, the irony is, you have jumped to a lot of false conclusions. You are misunderstanding or misjudging virtually everything that was said. Doesn’t make you like too bright now does it? Cheers.

Jack–“Toby jokingly referred to Obama as a dictator because of his management style, we don’t really think he’s a dictator.”

I know you don’t think Obama is a literal dictator, Jack, but I really think Toby would disagree with you.

This article offers a possible explanation for Obama’s slow response to the crisis in Libya:

    http://edition.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/02/23/obama.libya.response/index.html

“Washington (CNN) — While President Obama has taken heat for a relatively muted response in the early days of the crisis in Libya, U.S. officials privately believe it was the best strategy because if Obama had bashed Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, it could have put the thousands of Americans in Libya in harm’s way.

U.S. officials said there was a fear inside the administration that some of those Americans could have been taken hostage by Gadhafi, who once again made his distaste for America clear in rambling public remarks earlier this week and would relish the chance to escalate the crisis and drag U.S. citizens into the crossfire.”

Personally, I prefer Obama’s strategic, thought out responses to such crises over Bush’s shoot-first, ask questions later policy. You’ll remember that there was a lot of similar criticism last year over Obama’s slow response to the Iranian protests, even though the Iranian protesters were very vocal about how they did not want the U.S. to speak on their behalf. Obama is being smart and careful, in my opinion.

Ian I love old arguments and you have definitely been running on the spin cycle with this comment:

…and until he manipulates an election like bush did (twice…

We like evidence to prove a point around here…got any?

I sure hope so because I’m loaded with evidence to the contrary…please, as the man said, make my day!

  7. Rebel Terrorist says:

The so called Rebels are blood thirsty Terrorists! If there were thugs riding around pick up trucks with heavy machine guns in Europe, USA ,I dont think NATO would be so supportive. My God what a joke.

This is spam, but I allowed it because if you could score a free bumper sticker it might be a collectable and worth something some day. Just don’t give out too much personal info. – be smart and be safe.
