President’s Energy Policy Built on Fear and Lies

President Obama defines hope and change on a daily basis now but before his presidency had officially begun he signaled to the world his intentions. One goal included using the big green scare to impose draconian tax and regulation structures on the energy industry. Hot Air provides the quote:

So, if somebody wants to build a coal plant, they can — it’s just that it will bankrupt them, because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted. – Barack Obama, January 2008

Coal is a natural product of the earth. It has been a godsend to people all over the world making the air they breathe cleaner and the lives they lead more pleasant and hopeful. New technologies have made the extraction of coal less dangerous. Technology has created new ways to limit pollution that coal driven power plants release into the air. Through the years coal has lighted and warmed our homes and factories to make our lives more pleasant. It has fueled and increased our prospects and opportunities. As Ed Morrissey of Hot Air points out, “Coal provides 49% of domestic electrical power, and any rise in the cost of producing that energy will raise its cost to consumers and reduce the amount produced.”

Why would President Obama purposely make energy more expensive for consumers and ultimately destroy nearly half of the power that Americans depend on each and every day?

Because he enjoys having power and control, President Obama will gladly use agenda driven, falty science to destroy industries and usher in expanded government powers. Give him four more years and you’ll see just how fast and furiously he would move to make energy policy, and so many other things, even more oppressive and harmful for the people.

In the years since President Obama’s inauguration the science behind global warming theories has been debunked and discredited. The political/financial agenda behind it has been revealed as a power/money grubbing scam! In reality his polices will line the pockets of an elite few while creating more difficult times for the average Joe America. Others around the world agree.

From Australia, in honor of last night’s “Earth Hour” turn off the lights celebration, an article extolling the virtues of coal:

It was coal that produced clean electric power which cleared the smog produced by dirty combustion and open fires in big cities like London and Pittsburgh. Much of the third world still suffers choking fumes and smog because they do not have clean electric power and burn wood, cardboard, unwashed coal and cow dung for home heat.

It was coal that saved the forests being felled to fuel the first steam engines and produce charcoal for the first iron smelters.

It was coal that powered the light bulbs and saved the whales being slaughtered for whale oil lamps.

It was coal that produced the steel that replaced shingles on the roof, timber props in the mines, wooden fence posts on the farms and the bark on the old bark hut.

In Australia today, coal provides at least 75% of our lighting, cooking, heating, refrigeration, rail transport and steel. Without it, we would be back in the dark days of candles, wood stoves, chip heaters, open fires, smoky cities, hills bare of trees and streets knee deep in horse manure.

The President is a big fan of alternative cars.

One of those alternatives is a plug in model that depends mostly on coal. Coal provides most of the energy that comes out of the wall. It is estimated that the pollution that plug-ins would cause due to increased energy demand is greater than the pollution currently caused by gasoline powered cars. How stupid is it to force new technologies that can’t yet replace what we have and that kill established energy sources before their natural expiration date?

Try this:

Plug-in electric cars increase electricity demand at a time when we need to be removing dirty sources of electricity from the electric grid that is running at capacity. It is like going on a spending spree (using more electricity) when you want to reduce the hefty monthly interest payments on your maxed out credit cards (electric grid) because some day, the aunt (clean energy) is going to leave you an inheritance. (Emphasis mine) Coal just got a brand new best friend in the plug-in car.

Economics 101 gives us sensible policies to reduce greenhouse emissions without sacrificing living standards. Any form of gradual pollution-pricing done in a tax-neutral fashion by refunding pollution revenues back to the people will do its job. Our reliance on dirty fuels will go down, people will conserve by increasing efficiency, and the right energy mix will evolve on its own. It is one thing for the government to set such broad policies with long time horizons and then stay out of the way, but it is another to pick favorite solutions and shower subsidies on them. Plug-in electric cars are just following the footsteps of corn ethanol in feeding at the public trough without delivering a dime of environmental benefit.

Instead of following a sensible energy plan, the presidents EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, announced new regulations last week that will make it impossible to build new coal driven power plants. She offered assurances that the energy could be replaced by natural gas powered plants, a snow job if ever there was one. We know from statements the administration and others in the Democrat Party have made that natural gas is on the environmental chopping block along with the other two natural/demonized sources of energy, oil and coal. Ms Jackson’s disingenuous stance, made in an election year, is designed for one purpose only…to FOOL the public.

The truth about President Obama’s so-called all inclusive energy policy is that it is retrograde.

It suggests a giant step backward in time. It also reveals a cynical disregard for the overall well-being of the people. This administration doesn’t care that the people continue to suffer without jobs. He doesn’t care that the cost of doing business continues to go up putting companies out of business and killing any prospects for creating new jobs. He doesn’t care that his polices will make things worse! His agenda, his legacy with the proletariat, is much more important to him than creating policies that ensure prosperity, put people to work AND create clean energy alternatives.

We can find explore and adopt alternatives and still continue to support established sources. New alternative technologies will and should develop naturally. They should be funded privately putting zero tax dollars at risk (Solyndra/Ener1) while we continue to exploit the energy sources we already have available. this approach will fuel a robust economy that makes job creation a reality.

This president and his hostile energy policy has to go!

Regular readers have been able to follow along as I chronicle the 17,384-employee wrecking crew that is the EPA. This week the racket put the coal industry out of business, helped raise electricty prices for everyone, and did it all for the low, low price of $9,000,000,000 per year.

The writing is on the wall for all to see. The good news is that in eight months YOU will have the opportunity to PARTICIPATE in the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION of our time. Choose wisely, Pilgrims, your job, your future, your children’s futures, and the blessing that is The United States of America all depend on it.
