I was just told a dear friend passed in the night. He was a patriot extraordinaire, a leader in local and state politics, always involved, always standing up for what he knew was right. He was a good Christian man of deep faith, with a passion for life and politics.

He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer almost a year ago. Back then, and despite the terrible news, he told me he didn’t fear death because he knew his name was written in the book of lambs. Throughout his ordeal, he continued to be part of the good fight and to do his duty as he saw it with his last ounce of energy. He remained true to his principles and showed great courage right till the end. He was my dear friend, Pete Weber. Good-bye Pete, my most sincere condolences to his wife Lee and his wonderful family. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend. As Libby said we’ve reached that age. It makes us realize how blessed we’ve been to have good friends and fond memories. RIP Jack’s good friend.

These few words cant express the loss I feel from learning of Petes passing. I was out of town and came home to a message from Lee telling me Pete had passed during the night.

Both Pete and Lee welcomed me to Chico and became good and dear friends for the past three years. They also became my mentors and introduced me to the local and state Republican groups and to local politics.

There are good people in this world and Pete Weber is amongst the finest. I have no doubt that both God and Jesus were there to welcome him home.

It would be a perfect memoriam to dedicate this election to Petes memory and to also be there for Lee as she goes thru this very difficult time.

You would have liked him Tina. He was funny guy who always made people laugh, he was always light hearted and jovial. And then he had a serious side as a deeply reverent man; you could never have lunch with Pete without him saying grace first, even if it was at McDonald’s!

There’s not a lot of straight shooters in politics, but Pete was, and I think this was because he knew he had to answer to a higher authority. He also ran his own company in the Bay area and later he moved here and continued some aspects of it, dealing in heavy construction.

Pete served for many years as the Vice Chairman of the California Republican Assembly, representing northern California. I believe he was 81 when he died, but you sure wouldn’t know he was that old to look at him and he was very active right up till his final months.

Thank you for the kind words and the picture of Jesus holding the lamb, that meant a lot.

Thank you, Jack. I only learned today from Lee of Pete’s passing. He was a wonderful man, husband, father, patriot and friend. Though I reside on the other side of the state, Pete was always available for advice or to simply listen to a young political hack like me vent about the state of affairs. He was a committed husband to both his first wife and to Lee, and was always the gentleman, even to those with whom he disagreed. I originally met him through a disagreement at a California Republican Assembly convention, where he served as both Butte County Chairman and a state vice-president. Despite this, Pete’s manner and positive demeanor helped soothe many tempers, and he will be missed by those who strove to champion conservative values through positive enthusiasm, motivation and friendship. I feel truly blessed to have known and been a friend to Pete Weber.

John, well said. It’s funny how sometimes we can find a lot about a persons character through a disagreement. Pete was a strong Republican conservative, always intent on doing the right thing for the right reasons. So, even though we might disagree on some finer point of politics, and we always will…we can always respect a man like that. He truly will be missed. -Jack
