   Well, yes, but you should know that only Torres will accept the lone male, and they only have 120 beds.

   A 2011 county census put the homeless population at over 1200. It’s gonna take a lot of quarters, or even dollars, to fund the expansion … but I know you’re just panting to get started.

   Does Chico have the simple solutions program?

   It is one easy way to help with food, We are given a bag, about the size of the cloth bags in teh grovery stores, we fill them up, everyother month they are picked up and a new bag is given.

   It’s pretty simple: the more freebies & giveaways provided, the more homeless will appear.

   Chico has to decide if it wants to continue to be a homeless magnet or not.

   Good point J. Unfortunately the leaders don’t have what it takes to make such a decision, much less act on it.

   Chico already has a good safety net for local people who find themselves in trouble and unable to cope. They need temporary assistance to get themselves back on their feet. We have good people doing some very fine work in this regard and giving money to them makes sense.

   Panhandling is a business…an unscrupulous business…a con. Feeding cash to panhandlers is a huge mistake, it just encourages them to stay put and spread the word that Chico is a pushover community.

   People who prefer panhandling to work have no moral underpinnings; they don’t care about the harm they cause local legitimate business!

   Asinine questions usually don’t deserve a response, but I’ll make an exception just this once. Nothing is cushy about a doorway.
   And the day I have to ask for a handout from strangers is the day I’ll leave this earth.

   J, yet another concept that the left cannot seem to comprehend, self respect. Living in a doorway and conning the public is just another lifestyle.

   California Man Allegedly Set on Fire INSIDE His SUV by Homeless Person in ‘Horrific’ Attack:

   LONG BEACH, Calif. (TheBlaze/AP) — “A man was sitting in side his Toyota SUV in front of a Long Beach 7-Eleven this Friday afternoon when he was doused in a flammable substance and set afire, police Sgt. Aaron Eaton said.

   The 63-year-old Long Beach man was badly burned on the upper torso and remained in critical condition Saturday as investigators tried to determine what motivated the suspect, a homeless man, investigators say.

   Witnesses said Clark is a panhandler who asked people for change and cigarettes outside the store, and that he approached the man in the SUV earlier.”

   Jack, I saw the ER’s “Off the Streets” article in today’s paper, which only reflected a positive pro argument for the shelter. Not one word was mentioned about the opposition’s argument. I wonder if the above incident will open some eyes.
