ObamaCare Winners and Losers

Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.

Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

Vinson, of San Jose, will pay $1,800 more a year for an individual policy, while Waschura, of Portola Valley, will cough up almost $10,000 more for insurance for his family of four.

“Welcome to the club,” said Robert Laszewksi, a prominent health care consultant and president of Health Policy and Strategy Associates in Virginia.

For years, the nation has been embroiled in the political rhetoric of “Obamacare,” but this past week the reality of the new law sank in as millions of Americans had their first good look at how the… CONT

There was an interesting unrelated sentence in the article: “…hospitals in the Bay Area are owned by hospital groups that can demand higher rates because of the lack of competition.

The ultimate goal of Democrats…single payer government run healthcare…zero competition.

Those poor guys will not be happy in the future because rates are designed to rise and as demand increases they will experience longer wait times and postponed or denied treatment.

    There is a better way.

Does anyone find it odd that people will pay for expensive tennis shoes, phones, vacations, cars but they don’t want to pay for their own healthcare? costs?

Good article on the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare in the Wall Street Journal.

  3. Pie Guevara says:

” … we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it…”

I love hearing the stories of Obama voters going nuts about how their god is #ucking them. I see Obama’s approval numbers are down to 37%. If they report 37%, I wonder how bad the real number is? Not much we can do about things so why not take joy in seeing these morons explode.

  5. Libby says:

Mmmmm, yes. Seems everybody’s getting such letters. The corporate justification is presented as follows: “Well, Obama is making us cover sick people, so in order to remain profitable, we have to charge everybody more.”

    Do you see the problem?

    Single Payer !!!!!

  6. Libby says:

I mean, show me the figures.

If the sick people are paying into the pot as well, why shouldn’t these companies be able to make out.

Something else is going on here.

Libby: ““Well, Obama is making us cover sick people, so in order to remain profitable, we have to charge everybody more.”

Obama promised the American people that the costs would GO DOWN! He lied didn’t he? He lied to get the people behind a scheme to take over the industry and create greater government dependency in the populace.

In the private sector companies have to remain profitable or they go out of business. Profits, I keep telling you, are simply the working capital used for future operations and expansion.

Profits are something corporations must report on a given day so government will know how much tax to inflict! The number also gives the owners/CEO an indication of how well the company is doing so plans and adjustments can be made.

Do people who work for the company also get paid…make a living? (OH horrors!) Yes they do…so what? They don’t make any more than those CEO’s who run California’s colleges…or do nothing blowhards like Bill Clinton who jet sets around the world producing nothing but hot air!

Private sector companies provide a vital service that people can buy but are not forced to buy. Competition in the private sector brings cost to consumers down.

Single payer is government morphed into a monopolistic corporation with the power to control everything about your health and your wallet! The monopoly eliminates all competition and accountability to the consumer is greatly diminished.

There is no excuse for the ignorance displayed by people screaming for single payer in America…except that extreme leftists have been in charge of our educational system for decades and have dumbed-down the population. We are paying the CEO’s of big education really big bucks to produce citizens with fractured thinking skills…incredible!
