Gay Rights Bill Blocked by John Boehner [Democrat]

To understand why I am calling Speaker Boehner, et al, a democrat please refer to the comments in the article just before this one titled, Lies and Indoctrination – How Far Will Liberal Progressives Go?

Posted by Jack with special thanks to Libby-Republican*

Our friend Libby reports this breaking news…. “I heard today that the Senate voted affirmatively on a fifteen year old bill … to the effect that you can’t sack a gay person from his job … for being gay. And I also hear that the House (aka Boehner) will not consider it. I really don’t think that’s going to do you any good either (referring to the Abe Lincoln – Democrat, plaque protest).

“If we do it will be because the American people bought another pack of lies and BS excuses.”

And not because the sequester cuts have put several hundred thousand people out of work? … because the Congress (specifically the House) will not do its job?

Well, we shall see.

Our friend Libby reports, “I heard today that the Senate voted affirmatively on a fifteen year old bill … to the effect that you can’t sack a gay person from his job … for being gay. And I also hear that the House (aka Boehner) will not consider it.

I really don’t think that’s going to do you any good either.”

Libby…the Senate in a bipartisan action did pass the law and yes Boehner a [democrat] opposed it.

Wikipedia says this about the bill, “The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) is legislation proposed in the United States Congress that would prohibit discrimination in hiring and employment on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity by civilian, nonreligious employers with at least 15 employees.

ENDA has been introduced in every Congress since 1994 except the 109th. Similar legislation has been introduced without passage since 1974.[1] The bill gained its best chance at passing after the Democratic Party broke twelve years of Republican Congressional rule in the 2006 midterm elections. In 2007, gender identity protections were added to the legislation for the first time. Some sponsors believed that even with a Democratic majority, ENDA did not have enough votes to pass the House of Representatives with transgender inclusion and dropped it from the bill, which passed the House and then died in the Senate. President George W. Bush (democrat) threatened to veto the measure. LGBT advocacy organizations and the LGBT community were divided over support of the modified bill.

In 2009, following Democratic gains in the 2008 elections, and after the divisiveness of the 2007 debate, Rep. Barney Frank introduced a transgender-inclusive version of ENDA. He introduced it again in 2011, and Sen. Jeff Merkley introduced it in the Senate. President Barack Obama supports the bill’s passage.”

House Speaker John Boehner (democrat) affirmed on Monday morning that he would oppose a law that would prohibit discrimination against gay and lesbian employees in the workplace, citing the possibility that it would put a financial burden on businesses. “The Speaker believes this legislation will increase frivolous litigation and cost American jobs, especially small business jobs,” Boehner (democrat) spokesman Michael Steel (also a democrat) said in a statement.

I’m wondering does anyone have any statistics on the number of people being fired for their sexual orientation in the few States left that are still without an anti-discrimination law? I think it’s relevant to know if this is just a feel good federal bill or is there a real need? I don’t have any idea – do you?

*Republican form of government – legal definition: That form of government in which the administration of affairs is open to all the citizens. A political unit or “state,” independent of its form of government.

  1. Libby says:

I was thinking that I would, very kindly, let this pass without comment. But I can’t do it. Ain’t is awful?

“‘And I also hear that the House (aka Boehner) will not consider it. I really don’t think that’s going to do you any good either (referring to the Abe Lincoln – Democrat, plaque protest).”

First, and foremost … a period and a quote mark go at the end of “either”. And then you say what you have to say about it.

Then, you got it entirely wrong. I was referring to your electoral prospects in the next election. Having shown up your NEIU slander as bogus and bigoted, I have done with the subject.

You, however, would seem to be obsessed. What gives?

  2. Princess says:

I thought this was referring to how Republicans see John Boehner. He is so reviled right now that over at Redstate they call him a Democrat regularly.

  3. Tina says:

Libby the president’s approval ratings slipped into the high 30% range today according to Gallup. I wouldn’t count on your own electoral prospects being very good..but you are free content yourself with another lie.

Obsessed? Nah…I’d say having a bit of fun!

  4. Tina says:

Jack I saw this last night before I went of to Zzzzzzzzzzz land…brilliant!

  5. Pie Guevara says:

During Obama’s first two years in office both the House Of Representatives and the Senate were controlled by Democrats. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act could have easily passed both houses and have been signed into law.

But it wasn’t. Instead we got the ObimboCare disaster.

Now Libby (who to call a Republican is as much an insult to Republicans as calling Lincoln a Democrat) brings it up. Why now, Libby (Progressive Pinhead)?

  6. Dewey says:

    Why is this a discussion?

    Government over reach?

A persons personal life is not the companies business. Facebook passwords and your personal info is OK for a corporation to demand access to but if anyone dare asks a corporation anything it is government over reach

Lions and Tigers and bears Oh no!

Start by defining Democracy, I guess that does not matter

  7. Tina says:

Go back to sleep Dewey…Jack was just having a bit of fun, son.

  8. Libby says:

Tina, the O-man can’t run again. I keep telling you this, but you just go right on … obsessing. It’s very … intriguing.

  9. Post Scripts says:

Princess, I was just having fun…Libby defended the plaque that said “Abe Lincoln Democrat” Defining democrat as one who believes in the democratic form of government. Boehner believes in that, so he’s a democrat too by that logic and Libby qualifies as a republican if you read the literal definition in the dictionary…lol

  10. Tina says:

The O-man is the Democrat Party Libby and if Hillary thinks she can distance herself from her involvement shes nuts. she was a one woman wrecking ball as SOD…Benghazi is bad and the Middle East is a dangerous mess with both allies feeling betrayed and enemies laughing their butts off. Our reputation in the world tanked…she and Obama are responsible.

I’m no more obsessed than any other person who follows politics, including you…you just prefer to be the one making all the accusations and its been awhile.

  11. Dewey says:

America is not a football game of democrats and republicans

  12. Pie Guevara says:

Poor Dewey got sidelined and stuffed in the ball bag.

  13. Libby says:

Oh, geez, I don’t even want to think about it: a Clinton-Christie contest would be beyond my strength. It’s really, really wicked, but I’m truly hoping for a stoke-heart attack combo that will take them both out.

  14. Tina says:

Interesting Libby…I suppose you favor Elizabeth Warren? Wasn’t her name mentioned as a possible candidate?
