FBI: No Charges in Tea Party Targeting Case, Issa Fumes

Posted by Tina

The FBI announced yesterday that charges will not be forthcoming in the IRS targeting case against Tea Party and conservative groups. Representative Issa sent a scathing statement to the press this morning:

Anonymous — and apparently politically motivated — leaks from unnamed law enforcement officials further undermine the public assurances by the current and former FBI directors that this is a legitimate investigation. These leaks come after the Justice Department, citing the confidential nature of the investigation, refused to brief Congress on its progress and congressional investigators independently discovered that a high dollar contributor to the Obama administration failed to recuse herself. These revelations further undermine the credibility of the Attorney General [Eric] Holder and the Justice Department under his leadership. Given the circumstances, there is little reason for the American people to have confidence in this investigation.

This follows news last week that the biased Eric Holder put an Obama donor in charge of a Justice Department(non) investigation into the matter.

The purpose of these so-called investigations is only to whitewash the entire matter prior to the elections.
Tea Party/conservatives have no rights under this regime and will receive no justice. They might as well make us wear stars of David for all the respect we are given. Those who find this boring or funny don’t give a damn about America or their own rights.

  1. Libby says:

Did you know that Issa is the biggest millionaire in the Congress? Just a little tidbit.

And there aren’t going to be any charges … ever. Because further investigation has revealed that all manner of left-wing organizations were also thoroughly scrutinized. Yet another fact that you and Issa both, for purely political reasons, cannot bring yourselves to accept.

And how about poor Mr. Christie? You thinking that if you ignore the situation, maybe it will evaporate? I especially liked: “I am not a bully”, … after all that Town Hall berating of school teachers … we remember that, you know. Why would he think that we would not remember that?

And so we are having an enjoyable time watching yet another Republican candidate blow himself to bits, figuatively speaking. Tee Hee.

  2. Peggy says:

Issa only fumes in front of the news cameras with Boehner’s permission. They’ve had a year and a half to issue subpoenas and haven’t. One can only ask why not and what does Obama have on them to keep them quiet and really doing their jobs of serving the people who elected them.

Issa is also the chair of the Benghazi hearing committee too, I believe. I rest my case.

  3. Tina says:

Libby: “investigation has revealed that all manner of left-wing organizations were also thoroughly scrutinized.”

Yes, words mean things. And leftists always use the language to fool the public. “Thoroughly scrutinized” means the ordinary work that the group does on a daily basis. It is not the same thing that happened to these groups PRIOR TO AN ELECTION. These groups were not just scrutinized; their applications were delayed and they were questioned as no other groups have ever been questioned!

This administration, and its various arms and supporters, is scum.

  4. Tina says:

Cleta Mitchel writing in the Washington Examiner:

Let’s all be very clear: The FBI did not conduct an “investigation” into the IRS scandal.

Not unless there are new protocols for investigating potential unlawful activities, which discard the quaint notion of speaking to the victims.

In May, President Obama hurriedly called a White House news conference to stem the outrage about the IRS’s admitted targeting of conservative groups, and emphatically told the nation: “I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency but especially in the IRS, given the power that it has and the reach that it has into all of our lives.” He appointed Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct a criminal investigation into possible wrongdoing — and since then, many of us have wondered, when actually is this investigation going to start?…

…Had the FBI bothered to contact or interview me, any of my clients, or anyone who actually could tell the FBI what the IRS did, we could have provided some specific facts about the IRS scandal.

And here are some additional inquiries I would have suggested:

    • What did the FBI do in terms of investigating the obvious lies to Congress in 2012 by assorted IRS officials who claimed there was ‘no targeting’ of conservative organizations? Last time I checked, it is a felony to lie to Congress (ask Roger Clemens).

    • Did the FBI investigate why Catherine Engelbrecht in Houston was visited by the FBI seven times, was audited by the IRS both personally and in her family business, was visited by OSHA and ATF (twice), all within 18 months of her filing exempt organization applications with the IRS for two conservative groups?

    • Did the FBI investigate whether there were illegal political considerations related to the audits of conservative organizations and donors nationwide — and the correlation of that widespread abuse of conservative citizens to the targeting of the conservative organizations?

In short, how can there be any semblance of legitimacy to an investigation when none of the victims were even interviewed?

    Phonies!

There is nothing real about this administration except the horrendous damage they are inflicting on the people of the U.S.

  5. Libby says:

Yes, I know you like to think that you’re persecuted for your political beliefs … but it’s just not true. After the Citizens United decision, the poor IRS was beseiged with such applications, and they were all held up while the IRS sorted out the rules and checked everybody’s credentials.

It’s just the fact that there were so many, many, many more such applications from you side of the eisle that conservatives could claim they were targeted. But it’s just not true.

Yer all just a ravining passel of persecution complexes run amok, that’s what you are.

  6. Libby says:

Now … the citizens of Fort Lee … they were persecuted … by a crazy man … it’s starting to seem like.

  7. Tina says:

BS Libby. As the above post from the Examiner shows the FBI didn’t even bother to interview the victims who are real flesh and blood citizens with rights. They lied and the IRS Obama activists lied. You there’s just no accounting for you. I think you’d sell your grandmother for single payer or the presidency in Elizabeth /warrens hands.

  8. Peggy says:

Libby, only 6 progressive group’s applications were screened by the IRS while almost 300 conservative groups were put through unprecedented detailed screening. All 6 progressive groups were approved without delay, including one from Obama’s brother. Many of the conservative groups are still waiting for a notice of approval or denial after over 3 years. Even a notice of denial would allow them to file an appeal, but for now they’re just hanging in limbo.

The IRS processes millions of tax returns every year, they should be able to process a couple of hundred applications in three years. Of course there is another election coming up, so I’m sure they won’t hear until after the election if at all.

    From Wikipedia.

    “Targeting of progressive groups:

On June 24, 2013, new IRS commissioner Danny Werfel revealed that an internal investigation had discovered that the targeting was both broader and longer-lasting than had previously been known. The report found that words such as “Israel,” “progressive” and “Occupy” were also used as red-flags for greater scrutiny, and that screeners were still using such lists up until May 2013.[8] A spokesman for the Inspector General’s office in charge of the IRS audit said they had been asked by House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) “to narrowly focus on Tea Party organizations.”[99]

It was revealed two days later that while certain progressive groups also faced long delays in getting the IRS to approve their applications, the progressive groups were not subjected to the same level of scrutiny as Tea Party groups.[100]

On June 27, 2013, responding to letters from Rep. Sander Levin, the ranking member on the Ways and Means Committee, Inspector General J. Russell George’s office released a letter to Levin about the scrutiny of groups with “progressive” in their names.[101][102][103][104] Contradicting earlier claims of George’s office, the letter acknowledged that he knew that the word “progressive” had appeared in IRS screening documents.[103][104] However, he said that the “Progressives” criteria was on a part of the “Be On the Look Out” (BOLO) spreadsheet labeled “Historical,” and, unlike other BOLO entries, didn’t say how to refer flagged cases. While he had many sources confirming the use of “Tea Party” and related criteria described in the report, including employee interviews and e-mails, he found no indication in any of those other materials that “Progressives” was a term used to refer cases for scrutiny for political campaign intervention.”[101] The letter further stated that out of the 20 groups applying for tax-exempt status whose names contained “progress” or “progressive”, 6 had been chosen for more scrutiny as compared to all of the 292 groups applying for tax-exempt status whose names contained “tea party”, “patriot”, or “9/12.”[104](subscription required)[105][7]”

But Peggy… it could be just an odd coincidence, you know, like lightning striking 27 times in the same place or winning the lottery once a month for a year. I am sure Libby would agree, nothing all that unusual. Just a coincidence.

  9. Peggy says:

Jack, I’m sure she still believes Obama when he says his priority is jobs and the economy while his actions are to get more immigrants, both legal and illegal, in the US and in the voting booth. Even my 12 year old grandson would understand more people competing for fewer jobs does not improve the employment rate or the economy. At least he doesn’t believe Obama can walk on water like Libs does.

Failure to protect and attempt to rescue our men in Benghazi, the IRS suppression of opposition organizations, not securing our borders and the immigrations reform agenda, and Fast and Furious/gun control issue are/were all politically driven. We have people sitting in the highest command seats in this country who’s priority is driven by politics and getting themselves and their cohorts elected instead of doing what’s best for the people of this once great country.

Does the person even exist who would lead this country to a better future instead of for their own personal gains? I hope so. We’re running out of time.

    From Alexander Tyler.

    Alexander Tyler on Democracy, 1887:

“In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, “The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    From bondage to spiritual faith;
    From spiritual faith to great courage;
    From courage to liberty;
    From liberty to abundance;
    From abundance to complacency;
    From complacency to apathy;
    From apathy to dependence;
    From dependence back into bondage.”

    The Obituary follows:
Some believe the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of democracy,”

  10. Libby says:

“Many of the conservative groups are still waiting for a notice of approval or denial after over 3 years.”

It’s a bizarre idea, I know, but you don’t suppose this could be because they don’t qualify?

I mean, as I said, 300 is kind of a lot, don’t you think? If I were an IRS examiner, I’d give the onslaught a good hard look.

  11. Tina says:

Peggy I fear we have already moved into dependency. It’s difficult to tell since we have the unusual case of a black man at the top a lot of people still support him because of his race and not because of his good leadership qualities.

Unfortunately the first black president never had any intention to lead the nation. He became president to further a radical political agenda.

Harry Reid is playing blocker for him in the Senate to make sure the Republican House is completely dis-empowered.

The President is at a manufacturing plant today pretending once again to care about jobs. He’s had five years and done nothing to create enough jobs to make a difference.

Since the Republicans took the House several jobs bills have passed. Reid has blocked every one from consideration and then claimed the House had done nothing. He has to block the House bills because after the disaster of Obamacare he can’t control Democrat votes and doesn’t want to risk having a House jobs bill pass.

People are talking a lot about the troubles in the Republican Party as if that were the biggest thing to be concerned about…what a laugh.

America better start worrying about the extremists that are controlling the Democrat Party and the American economy.

There is some hope. Young people are not signing up for Obamacare. Many of them are wising up to their socialist elders who are robbing them of a futures and failing them in the present.

  12. Libby says:

“He’s had five years and done nothing to create enough jobs to make a difference.”

Geez. What’s he supposed to do with the Congress he’s got? Waive his magic wand?

Your lot said bringing the deficit down, cutting off federal spending, would make jobs. So? The deficit’s down. The sequester is in place. Where are the jobs?

You’re going to be hearing of lot of this over the next election season … I’d think of an answer.

  13. Pie Guevara says:

Re: #1 Libby : Did you know that Issa is the biggest millionaire in the Congress? Just a little tidbit.

    Silly little s for brains.

  14. Tina says:

Libby: ” What’s he supposed to do with the Congress he’s got? Waive his magic wand?”

It would be more effective than anything he has proposed or done so far!

He had a super majority going for him for the first couple of years and he squandered that chance to do what he said he would do. Now he has a House that has passed 40 bills relating to the economy and jobs ALL BLOCKED BY HARRY REID from even being considered by Democrats or Republicans in the Senate.

Are you telling me the President can’t do anything about Harry Reid? If not he has no business trying to run the country!

Our “lot” said cut taxes and regulations too…all your guys do is add to them on a near daily basis. the tax cuts you propose are not stimulative…its all for show…plus there’s the healthcare debacle that hasn’t given anyone confidence to hire with talk of a bailout. And lets not forget the President suggested the sequester and then like the weenie he is tried to blame Republicans for what happened at his personal direction.

You have no leg to stand on but it is typical of your side to stand in a pile of their own excrement and say someone else did it!

Does the President not learn from history or his own mistakes and failures? He’s trotting out the same tired big government remedies.

The Democrats better be thinking about their own responses to the mess they have made.

  15. Tina says:

    Re Pie at #14

I notice her “tidbit” left out that seven in ten of the top wealthiest are democrats.

More evidence that you are correct: Media Matters and Moveon.org qualify…these groups qualify.

  16. Peggy says:

Libby #11: “It’s a bizarre idea, I know, but you don’t suppose this could be because they don’t qualify?”

Libby, you really are brain-dead. If they didn’t qualify then why not let them know? Duh!!! Just stick in the mail a nicely worded rejection notice. You know the kind I’m sure you’ve gotten from rejected job applications. At least you were able to look for another job. A lot of these poor people have been waiting for over THREE YEARS!!

Do you understand now? I dooooo hope so.

  17. Peggy says:

    Tina #12

I agree, we moved into dependency years ago its just accelerated over the past 5 to 7 years, because the democrats have been in control of Congress for the majority of the time.

I don’t know when that article was written, maybe several years ago, which could leave us with just a couple of years before it all falls apart.

Heard an interesting young man from Italy who has started the Tea Party movement over there. He started with just 6 people and is now up to 6,000. He’s lived under the communist/socialist control and is using America and the original Tea Party to take his country on a path to freedom. They’re paying 80-85% taxes and no one wants to work any more.

They’re organizing a tax revolt and session for northern Italy. We don’t hear anything about it over here because the media is government controlled. (Sound familiar?)

(Italy)‘On the Verge of Collapse’: Italian Tea Party Leader Has Bold Plans for the Future of His Country:

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/01/14/on-the-verge-of-collapse-italian-tea-party-leader-has-bold-plans-for-the-future-of-his-country/

Our first black president isn’t a leader because that wasn’t the roll he was hired to fill. He’s the mouth-piece the progressives needed to move their “transformation” on America to a socialist form of government. If he was a “constitutional instructor” then show us his transcripts and his employment records. I’ll bet you he was just an IA/instructional assistant who took roll and filled in when the professor/instructor didn’t teach the class.

Soros is the puppet master, Jarrett is the brains and Reid is the wagon master in charge of moving their agenda along in Congress to the promised land of milk and honey for the elites like themselves. They won’t be happy until their in homes equal to Al Gores all paid for by the taxes of everyone not members of their exclusive club.

Obama never just wanted to be the president of the US. It’s just a stepping stone for him to be president of the whole world as head of the UN. You watch his name will be up there because of all the “good” he’s done for the world by bringing America down to the economic equal of third world countries. I hope I’m alive to see him try and fail.

Did you hear about the Chicago teacher union inviting Jeramiah Wright to speak at the conference? Wright wouldn’t let any media cameras in to record him slamming Obama, which reporter say he did with a vengeance. Guess they won’t be voting for him or mayor Emanuel any time soon. Not their BFFs any more.

People are only talking about the problems in the republican party because the problems in the democrat’s party isn’t being reported on. Wouldn’t you just love to know what’s going on between Reid and all of those democrats afraid of losing their seats? Obama’s in NC and Hagen stays in DC to wash her hair. Please…..

I just hope and pray we get someone this time that will get voters to show up without holding our noses. If its another McCain or Romney I’ll vote for the democrat just to put us out of our misery so future generations can start the cycle over again sooner as Tyler indicated it will.

I’d vote for Ted Cruz twice if I could (only joking). Hey, if Obama can be president with his community organizer experience Ted Cruz could be pres. since he has years more experience. He just might be up there with Reagan instead of poor Obama being compared to Carter as our worst president.

I don’t think Obama gave young people enough credit. Either that or this whole ObamaCare mess was designed to fail from the very beginning.

Telling 26 year old they’re still kids and can stay on their parents health care plan because they can’t get their own jobs because of Obama’s miserable economy is laughable, unless it was designed that way. With a real unemployment rate of over 11% they can’t get a job unless it’s taking one away from a high school student or some poor retiree who lost everything when his retirement plan went down the toilet. The first couple of months off after getting a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree might have been welcomed, but after six months of pounding pavement and getting rejection notices all of that education and it’s cost began to open their eyes at just who and what they have sitting in the Oval Office. Yup, I do believe the young people are awake and know they got sold a bill of goods by a con artist.

2014 is the turn around year Tina. We need Reid out of control of the Senate then we’ll see the dam open up and flood Obama. He can sign the bills or not. If dems join in they could even have veto proof bills. Wouldn’t that be just peachy?

  18. Chris says:

Tina: “He had a super majority going for him for the first couple of years and he squandered that chance to do what he said he would do.”

Yes, because he spent those first couple of years trying to compromise with your party, even though you all made it perfectly clear you had no intention of ever compromising on anything, ever. He didn’t have to do that. He was quite actually being stupid by doing that. But let’s not sit here and pretend that he didn’t, OK?

  19. Tina says:

Chris: “…because he spent those first couple of years trying to compromise with your party…”

He made a great show to the press of being someone who wanted to bring the parties together, inviting people to the White House, etc. But he had no intention of working with the GOP.

    Hot Air:

During a morning meeting with congressional leaders from both parties, President Obama acknowledged the philosophical differences between his stimulus package and the Republican plan – but, sources familiar with the conversation said, Obama then noted: “I won.”…

But perhaps taking a cue from Obama’s “I won” line when Democrats were asked if they were concerned about Republicans blocking the package, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a swift one-word answer: “No.”

That was January 2009. Nothing has changed since.

“…you all made it perfectly clear you had no intention of ever compromising on anything, ever.”

Wrongo! Remember Obama’s treatment of Paul Ryan in front of cameras at an event in April 2011 about the budget. Ryan attened the event after receiving and accepting a personal invitation to be there. the President even referred to him as “Jack Ryan”.

Ryan had attended thinking the President was finally willing to work seriously on budget matters…it was a set up…I don’t care what Obama’s excuse was.

    Gateway Pundit:

“I’m very disappointed in the president. I was excited when we got invited to attend his speech today. I thought the president’s invitation to Mr. Camp, Mr. Enserling and myself was an olive branch. Instead what we got was a speech that was excessively partisan, dramatically inaccurate and hopelessly inadequate in addressing our country’s fiscal challenges… Rather than building bridges, he’s poisoning wells.”

The Hill has more, via True North.

Before the speech began, according to the Times, then-White House Chief of Staff William Daley “spied an unexpected guest in the audience: Rep. Paul D. Ryan, the Republican chairman of the House Budget Committee, whose budget plan Mr. Obama was about to shred.”

The story says Daley told an aide to try to warn Obama and appears to imply that Obama might have toned down his rhetoric had he known Ryan was in the audience.

The problem with this account, Ryan’s office says, is that the White House invited Ryan to the speech.

“Chairman Ryan was invited by the White House. Ryan RSVP’d in the affirmative to the White House, and he was given his seating assignment by the White House,” spokesman Conor Sweeney said.

” But let’s not sit here and pretend that he didn’t, OK?”

    Yeah…sure…whatever.

  20. Tina says:

I won’t have time to post an article about the new IRS rules that are part of the omnibus bill that just passed so I am posting this WSJ article that explains how the Tea Party will be denied participation by the IRS rules in the next election.

The radical Democrats in power are scum.

  21. Dewey says:

Since when should politics be tax free?

Issa and his phony investigations wasting tax payer money and spending?

Tea Party is politics and politics should not be tax free. Since when is a minority of Americans doing any social welfare by pushing the Koch brothers agenda?

    Scum? Is that name calling?

    • Post Scripts says:

Dewey, we can tolerate being called scum. Thank you for noticing and for writing your opinion in a manner that does get us in trouble with the big boss.

  22. Peggy says:

#21 Tina: Good article. Why am I not surprised this administration will do anything to win another election?

Making changes to the IRS regulations to cheat the voters of a level playing field for everyone just shows how afraid they really are of loosing.

With Holder allowing voter fraud, suppression and stopping the voter ID and military votes, the IRS suppressing equal participation and the media flat out lying and lying by omission about the only way voters will be heard is to show up in huge numbers and to have poll sitters to validate every count.

Oh that’s right, one of those organizations still waiting for the IRS to approve their applications is, “True the Vote.”

    http://www.truethevote.org/

  23. Dewey says:

Politics is not tax free. The federal Law needs to be enforced. All non profit Political orgs need to be taxed regardless of Party.

The IRS guidelines do not follow the Federal Law passed by congress almost 100 years ago. That is the scandal.

The law clearly states “exclusively social welfare” No political Party falls under that.

    http://www.politicususa.com/2013/05/17/house-republican-hypocrites-rage-irs-demanding-audit-aarp.html

There is a simple solution to the explosion of dark money-fueled electioneering by 501c4s. Reclassify all 501c4 groups as 527 organizations. Groups organized under section 527 of the federal tax code can do as much politicking as they want, but they have to disclose their donors, while 501c4 social welfare nonprofits can keep their funding sources secret.

We need to sue the IRS for not obeying federal law.
Not to mention the Tea Party acts like it was all about them. Many Democrat Non profits were under scrutiny but the story on them was buried by the bought out media.
    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-05-15/irs-sent-same-letter-to-democrats-that-fed-tea-party-row.html

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/14/us/politics/irs-ignored-complaints-on-political-spending-by-big-tax-exempt-groups-watchdog-groups-say.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Truth be told we are trying to sue the IRS for allowing the 1% to buy out our political system.
But I fail to see why the Tea Party thinks they do anything for the social welfare of the people. The people voted against the Tea Party candidates.

The federal law is not listed at the IRS site. I have seen bloggers refer to their site. The problem is the IRS does not follow the actual law and we are suing them

    http://www.bendbulletin.com/news/1360294-151/text-of-senators-letters-to-the-irs

So even going by the IRS regulations passed against the actual fed law what part of the Tea Party is for the social welfare of all the people? It is ALL POLITICS ALL THE TIME.

  24. Chris says:

Good points, Dewey. I have trouble feeling sympathy for any organization that attempts to claim tax exempt status for obviously political purposes. That includes organizations like Media Matters. Though I do like that site, in that it provides basically a one-stop-shop for debunking certain conspiracy theories (it’s not the place for enlightening discussion, however), there is no way it should qualify as a tax exempt social welfare organization. The conservative Media Research Council has the same designation, I believe. It’s a totally unjustified tax break.
