Well, I suppose I have to be grateful it’s not a “subhuman mongrel” grade of abuse.

You have no idea how much I’m enjoying all this. It’s like … like … you just can’t hold it in.

I’ve heard hopeful talk of the Repugs taking the Senate in November … Ummmmm … not unless you learn to hold it in.

  2. Chris says:

The one on the right isn’t that funny, but it’s not offensive either.

The one the left can go f*** itself, though.

  3. Tina says:

Libby you are such a fine example of the elitist phony progressive…as if anyone on your side EVER “held it in”!

  4. Tina says:

Neither is as offensive as the remarks made about Condi Rice or the cartoons that were drawn of her. The left gets away with this blatant disrespect too.

Condi Rice is highly respected among people on the right. She is an incredibly intelligent and accomplished person. There was no excuse for this or for the pass given to the Democrat Party…particularly the minorities within the party!

  5. J. Soden says:

Had already decided Chris was a bloviator, but with the #2 comment has just won the official title of “Not Worthy of Being Read.”

I agree with you, Tina. I’ve condemned racist and sexist attacks on conservative politicians here too many times to count.

You have not done the same for racist and sexist attacks on liberal politicians.

The “Welfare Chex” box, aside from being overtly classist, also has racial connotations.

  7. Harold says:

Racism in America is no longer mainly about race. Sure, race is involved in a peripheral manner, but racism has mainly become an excuse, a dodge, a way to escape responsibility and even shift the blame toward someone for your own emotional response to anything you disapprove of.

Keeping in mind that we live in a nation with a black President and a black Attorney General, yet you can’t go a day in this country without hearing liberals complaining about what a racist country they live in.

America is so racist why? just because so many liberals say it’s racist because they’ve heard other liberals say the country is racist.

As far as I am concerned, appealing to racism with regards to politics became a dead dog political loser in this country when the Democratic Party joined the GOP in being opposed to racist policies.

Lighten up America, we used to laugh at ourselves a lot more, back when people were not so split by poor political direction, from both parties!

  8. Tina says:

Chris: “You have not done the same for racist and sexist attacks on liberal politicians.”
    Put a sock in it

Hate to burst your little self righteous bubble there Chris but having you run around condemning people on the left or right to prove yourself impartial means zot. You support a party that plays those cards politically to destroy individual people and to divide the nation during elections…the media plays along with them. Clarence Thomas was worthy to serve as a Supreme Court judge. The left conjured up bogus charges against him and put on a show trial in the court of public opinion for the sole purpose of destroying not only him, but the image of a Republican putting a decent, accomplished man of color on the bench. They couldn’t have that; it challenged the left’s storyline that Republicans are racist. The same with Condi Rice, Alberto Gonzales, and Mitch McConnels wife, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao. Racism and classism exist in that party used are as a tool to fight political wars and as such are much more damaging and reprehensible than are the jokes and cartoons from either perspective. Clowns to the left and right don’t bother me…the clowns who use race and class to win elections do.

I won’t march at your command or bend to your will, Chris. I’m not a prejudiced person. I believe in Dr Kings philosophy and judge people as individuals on the basis of merit, performance, and ideals.

So put a sock in it you class and sex conscious hall monitor.

The “Welfare Chex” box, aside from being overtly classist, also has racial connotations.

Only in the mind of someone who can’t think outside that PC box. Dr. Thomas Sowell could give you a lesson or two in the reality of leftist “caring” about minorities. As a man of education and experience that predates any of us here he speaks from experience and authority:

The poverty rate among blacks was nearly cut in half in the 20 years prior to the 1960s, a record unmatched since then, despite the expansion of welfare-state policies in the 1960s.

Unemployment among black 16- and 17-year-old males was 12 percent back in 1950. Yet unemployment rates among black 16- and 17-year-old males has not been less than 30 percent for any year since 1970 – and has been over 40 percent in some of those years.

Not only was unemployment among blacks in general lower before the liberal welfare-state policies expanded in the 1960s, rates of imprisonment of blacks were also lower then, and most black children were raised in two-parent families. At one time, a higher percentage of blacks than whites were married and working.

None of these facts fits liberal social dogmas.

While many politicians and “leaders” have claimed credit for black progress, no one seems to be willing to take the blame for the retrogressions represented by higher unemployment rates, higher crime rates and higher rates of imprisonment today. Or for the disintegration of the black family, which survived centuries of slavery and generations of government-imposed discrimination in the Jim Crow era, but began coming apart in the wake of the expansion of the liberal welfare state and its accompanying social dogmas.

The left has a lot to answer for Chris. It’s time you started looking at the things that really matter and quit falling into the political games that liberals play to keep you off center.

“I believe in Dr Kings philosophy.”

If Dr. King were alive today, you’d call him a Marxist, and you know it. Chris S.

Chris some might, I doubt that many would, but what would your side call him or is everyone on the left perfect? I think they would call Martin Luther King an Uncle Tom. Some might call him a House N’gr for his working with republicans. Some might call him a token or a puppet just like they do to Justice Thomas and so many others who have become successful without playing the race card every 5 mintues. Your side has a lot of names for blacks that espouse conservative views like protection of marriage, right to life, etc. How do you reconcile that ugliness as you criticize the rightwing?

  10. Chris says:

Jack, I’ve explained before that such labels against conservative blacks are wrong, but I don’t get why you think they’d be applied to Dr. King, who had harsh words for Republicans of his day:

“The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right. The “best man” at this ceremony was a senator whose voting record, philosophy, and program were anathema to all the hard-won achievements of the past decade.
Senator Goldwater had neither the concern nor the comprehension necessary to grapple with this problem of poverty in the fashion that the historical moment dictated. On the urgent issue of civil rights, Senator Goldwater represented a philosophy that was morally indefensible and socially suicidal. While not himself a racist, Mr. Goldwater articulated a philosophy which gave aid and comfort to the racist. His candidacy and philosophy would serve as an umbrella under which extremists of all stripes would stand. In the light of these facts and because of my love for America, I had no alternative but to urge every Negro and white person of goodwill to vote against Mr. Goldwater and to withdraw support from any Republican candidate that did not publicly disassociate himself from Senator Goldwater and his philosophy.”

  11. Tina says:

Chris: “If Dr. King were alive today, you’d call him a Marxist, and you know it.”

A lot has happened since Dr. Kings assassination. He was a registered Republican with deep religious roots. His principles certainly would not go well with the great distance we’ve come in morals and values since the sixties. Though he favored Marxist redistribution ideas toward the end I imagine he would have favored education and training to what has transpired under Democrat policies for the black members of our society. He might have come back to Republicans under Reagan…not sure what he would think of Obama but with his strong religious beliefs Its hard to imagine he would tolerate the abortion levels for black women…or the criminal tendencies of the current administration.

I’d say it’s a toss up. We do live in very odd times in America.

  12. Pie Guevara says:

The usual gang of gut churning, vomit inducing race baiters whine about “Welfare Chex” as if that were somehow racist. This sort paradigmatic progressive faux outrage is tiresome, to say the least.

  13. Tina says:

MLK was boondoggled by the young radical Democrat Marxists as well as the southern opportunistic Democrat racists of the day that could see the writing on the wall and posed as friends to the black man for their own selfish political ambitions.

Their “solutions” to help”the black man have, after nearly fifty years, been disastrous for the black family, and in particular black children and black men. Too many are born to single moms, remain stuck in poverty, stuck in bad schools, stuck in drug habits and prisons and maybe worst of all existing without the religious grounding that Dr King would have advocated.

Dr. King would not recognize what has become of the Democrat Party or of many/most black people today.

Those radical left policies certainly have not followed the advice given by the likes of Booker T. Washington:

“Our greatest danger is that in the great leap from slavery to freedom we may overlook the fact that the masses of us are to live by the productions of our hands, and fail to keep in mind that we shall prosper in proportion as we learn to dignify and glorify common labour and put brains and skill into the common occupations of life; shall prosper in proportion as we learn to draw the line between the superficial and the substantial, the ornamental gewgaws of life and the useful. No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem. It is at the bottom of life we must begin, and not at the top. Nor should we permit our grievances to overshadow our opportunities.” …

…”…I pledge that in your effort to work out the great and intricate problem which God has laid at the doors of the South, you shall have at all times the patient, sympathetic help of my race; only let this be constantly in mind, that, while from representations in these buildings of the product of field, of forest, of mine, of factory, letters, and art, much good will come, yet far above and beyond material benefits will be that higher good, that, let us pray God, will come, in a blotting out of sectional differences and racial animosities and suspicions, in a determination to administer absolute justice, in a willing obedience among all classes to the mandates of law. This… coupled with our material prosperity, will bring into our beloved South a new heaven and a new earth.”

Neither of these two men could have imagined the welfare state we now all live under or the oppressive welfare state that many black people live under. This is not the vision they fought so hard to bring to fruition! Both were driven by values of excellence, merit, work, and personal responsibility. Neither would have been impressed by either the failure of redistribution to see black people joined in the ranks of fellow working Americans or the use of race and class warfare in politics.

Had these leftist/Marxist policies not been adopted black men and women would have better advanced their own cause just through dedication, ambition, and work.

Democrats saw the black man as a victim class and exploited them as such. The great sin of the Republicans is that they didn’t see them as victims but as fellow human beings with the same capacity advancement given the chance.

Prejudices die as people become accustomed to one another…children lead the way. Democrats, by creating a racial victim class placed barriers in the way of natural progress.

  14. Chris says:

Tina: “He was a registered Republican”

That is not at all true. Who has been feeding you this garbage?

“He might have come back to Republicans under Reagan…”

Do you want to know what MLK actually thought of Reagan? Here are his own words:

“When a Hollywood performer, lacking distinction even as an actor can become a leading war hawk candidate for the Presidency, only the irrationalities induced by a war psychosis can explain such a melancholy turn of events.”

    http://www.aavw.org/special_features/speeches_speech_king03.html

“Its hard to imagine he would tolerate the abortion levels for black women…”

Of course he would despair over the black abortion rate. In fact, he spoke out against it during his acceptance speech of the Margaret Sanger award, which he received from Planned Parenthood and considered one of his most prized possessions:

“There is scarcely anything more tragic in human life than a child who is not wanted. That which should be a blessing becomes a curse for parent and child. There is nothing inherent in the Negro mentality which creates this condition. Their poverty causes it. When Negroes have been able to ascend economically, statistics reveal they plan their families with even greater care than whites. Negroes of higher economic and educational status actually have fewer children than white families in the same circumstances.”

While it’s clear that MLK was saddened by the black abortion rate, it’s equally clear that he favored different solutions to the problem than you do. MLK firmly believed in the importance of access to family planning. There’s little doubt that he would support free contraception today, which is the only policy proven to reduce the abortion rate by 70%.

    http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/10/05/study-free-birth-control-leads-to-fewer-abortions/

MLK Jr. would continue standing with Planned Parenthood today, just as he would continue standing with unions, anti-racists and anti-war advocates. We all know which side they belong to and which side has been attacking them.

“MLK was boondoggled by the young radical Democrat Marxists as well as the southern opportunistic Democrat racists of the day that could see the writing on the wall and posed as friends to the black man for their own selfish political ambitions.”

How dare you. For you to say that one of the greatest civil rights leaders was simply “boondoggled” into his beliefs is offensive. It also completely contradicts your earlier statement that you “believe in Dr Kings philosophy.” You clearly disagree with the vast majority of it. And it’s not even a respectful disagreement; you’re violently opposed to nearly everything the man stood for.

Most conservatives who claim MLK as one of their own acknowledge almost nothing about King except the “content of one’s character” line. They’ve selectively taken that one line out of context and ignored nearly everything else MLK advocated for. They use it to argue against affirmative action, welfare and reparations, not knowing or not caring that MLK favored all of those things.

“Neither of these two men could have imagined the welfare state we now all live under or the oppressive welfare state that many black people live under.”

Ridiculous. The welfare state advocated by MLK Jr. was bigger than any we’ve ever actually had in this country. He favored a guaranteed national income and an economic bill of rights. MLK would look at today’s society and think we haven’t done enough redistribution. He would see a lot of the problems you identified as resulting from the decline in unions and the minimum wage. He would not blame the existence of welfare for the need, as conservatives do today.

You mention MLK’s religious background as somehow proving his conservative credentials. But MLK would be ashamed of the way the modern Republican party has corrupted Jesus’ message of helping the poor and replaced it with a philosophy of Randian selfishness, which is completely anti-Christian. He would be joining the Pope in condemning the dangers unfettered capitalism, just as he did when he was alive.

You know nothing of MLK’s actual positions, and your attempts to claim his as ideologically kindred are totally dishonest.

  15. Tina says:

The National Black Republican Association (PDF), that’s who!

Dr. Alveda King chronicles the history of black republicans up to the death of MLK and points out it was the Democrat KKK that MLK was fighting such a fierce battle against in the South! Hard to imagine he would be a democrat in those circumstances.

It’s probably a mute point since at the time blacks weren’t able to vote much less register to vote especially in the South where MLK’s battle was mostly fought. The argument over which party he was affiliated with has more to do with the republican support of blacks that has been left out of most of the history. How many have heard for instance the following…

    Gateway Pundit:

On September 28, 1868, a mob of Democrats massacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana. The savagery began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. Several African-Americans rushed to the assistance of their friend, and in response, Democrats went on a “Negro hunt,” killing every African-American (all of whom were Republicans) in the area they could find. …

…Ann Coulter wrote about the history of blacks and the NRA back in April.

This will give you an idea of how gun control laws worked. Following the firebombing of his house in 1956, Dr. Martin Luther King, who was, among other things, a Christian minister, applied for a gun permit, but the Alabama authorities found him unsuitable. A decade later, he won a Nobel Peace Prize.

How’s that “may issue” gun permit policy working for you?

The NRA opposed these discretionary gun permit laws and proceeded to grant NRA charters to blacks who sought to defend themselves from Klan violence — including the great civil rights hero Robert F. Williams.

A World War II Marine veteran, Williams returned home to Monroe, N.C., to find the Klan riding high — beating, lynching and murdering blacks at will. No one would join the NAACP for fear of Klan reprisals. Williams became president of the local chapter and increased membership from six to more than 200.

But it was not until he got a charter from the NRA in 1957 and founded the Black Armed Guard that the Klan got their comeuppance in Monroe.

Williams’ repeated thwarting of violent Klan attacks is described in his stirring book, “Negroes With Guns.” In one crucial battle, the Klan sieged the home of a black physician and his wife, but Williams and his Black Armed Guard stood sentry and repelled the larger, cowardly force. And that was the end of it.

As the Klan found out, it’s not so much fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.

The NRA’s proud history of fighting the Klan has been airbrushed out of the record by those who were complicit with the KKK, Jim Crow and racial terror, to wit: the Democrats.

This era marks the spread of Marxist influence in American politics that began in the unions and would soon bleed into media and education. The Democrats saw the writing on the wall and set about, Marxist style, to co-opt the republicans by lying about their own racist history and pandering to black voters. Johnson’s Great Society was part of that plan.

More history at Why MLK Was Republican – Human Events

“But MLK would be ashamed of the way the modern Republican party has corrupted Jesus’ message of helping the poor…”

Jesus never once said that people should help the poor by giving money to government! Jesus spoke to people as individuals! He taught for the single purpose of saving souls through belief in Him!

The lefts Marxist idiocy that government programs and central planning was part of his message or can substitute or make up for or should supplant individual, personal giving is insane and grossly innacurate!

I don’t doubt or dispute the Marxist influences on Dr. King and agree his speeches reflect those influences. the point was whether or not Dr. King would relish and be proud of the result today.

I say he would not be proud of it. I can’t imagine how anyone could be proud of it. The progressives won; Obamacare is their crowning piece of legislation…and the black social fabric since 1965 has become an absolute mess. there are some bright stars of achievement but overall the result of progressive policy is just horrid.

  16. Chris says:

Tina: “The National Black Republican Association (PDF), that’s who!

    Dr. Alveda King”

    Yeah, I had a feeling.

Tina, the fact that you believe Alveda King (who is not a doctor) just shows how epically misinformed you choose to be. Alveda has been practically disowned by the rest of the King family and her claims that her uncle was a Republican are contradicted by his own son, as you could have seen in the above Politifact links.

She also once said, “Allowing gay couples to marry amounts to genocide and will lead to the extinction of the human race.”

Do you ever stop and vet the sources you use? Oh wait, I forgot: the whole notion that there are credible and non-credible sources is a liberal invention that is elitist, PC and tyrannical.

“Hard to imagine he would be a democrat in those circumstances.”

I never said he was a democrat! The fact-checking links I posted show that MLK Jr. was deliberately non-partisan and likely did not have a party affiliation. We do know that he aggressively spoke out against Goldwater, but that he had kind words for some Republicans like Nixon. But for the most part he critiqued both democrats and republicans.

“It’s probably a mute point since at the time blacks weren’t able to vote much less register to vote especially in the South where MLK’s battle was mostly fought.”

Not sure if you’re talking about the obstacles to voting that blacks faced, like poll taxes and literacy tests, but legally blacks have had suffrage since the late 1800s. MLK Jr. certainly would have been able to register with a political party if he wanted to.

Look, every educated person knows the racist history of the Democratic party. This has not been expunged from the history books as conservatives like to believe so that they can revel in their persecution complex. But we also do not ignore things like the Southern Realignment or Goldwater’s opposition to the Civil Rights Act, or everything that’s happened since.

If MLK Jr. said in 1964 that the Republican party had begun to embrace racism, I doubt it’s because he was “boondoggled” into believing this by racist Democrats. When MLK Jr. talked about racism, I think he knew what he was talking about.

“the point was whether or not Dr. King would relish and be proud of the result today.”

And as I’ve explained, I highly doubt MLK Jr. would see our current problems as a result of welfare/redistribution. More likely culprits are the decline in the min. wage, the decline in unionization, outsourcing, the fall of the manufacturing industry…the welfare system is a band-aid that has never been strong enough to fix all of these problems. The fact that so many now blame the welfare system itself shows that we are a long way from achieving MLK’s full dream.

  17. Tina says:

Chris: “Alveda has been practically disowned by the rest of the King family”

BFD. They embrace the Democrat lies about black history. They carry water for the Democrats because they promise them freebies…some of them have sold their souls and sold out the black community in the process…enriching their own lives without real concern for the quality of life blacks have under Democrat policies.

” every educated person knows the racist history of the Democratic party ”

What about the uneducated and the lousy educated in order to get their votes? How do you continue to support the party that has lied to blacks for fifty years and kept them uneducated and stuck in poverty for fifty years?

“If MLK Jr. said in 1964 that the Republican party had begun to embrace racism, I doubt it’s because he was “boondoggled” into believing this by racist Democrats”

Why because they’ve proved to be such upstanding politicians and citizens so far? What the hell is wrong with you Chris. We have for the last what, eight years, chronicled incident after incident showing the lies, the trick, the underhanded methods continuously used by the Democrat Party and you just let them blow over you like it was nothing.

Bah…you aren’t worth the time. You are ignorant, you are brainwashed, and you are closed minded. A trifecta!

  18. Chris says:

“BFD. They embrace the Democrat lies about black history. Tina,

Please tell me, specifically, which members of the King family you are referring to with this assertion. It would also be nice if you could provide evidence to back up these attacks, though that may be asking too much. So just names would be fine.

I was referring specifically to Coretta Scott King as well as her and MLK’s son. Is that who you are talking about?

“How do you continue to support the party that has lied to blacks for fifty years and kept them uneducated and stuck in poverty for fifty years?”

Because obviously, I don’t believe they’ve done that?

Look, you’re the one who has told a proven lie in this thread. You claimed that MLK Jr. was a Republican. That is a lie.

Can you point to any lies I have told in this thread?

As of now, you are showing that you are the one lying to and about black history, not me.

“Why because they’ve proved to be such upstanding politicians and citizens so far?”

Um, no. Because I think MLK Jr. was an intelligent man who knew racism when he saw it, and wasn’t likely to be “boondoggled” into believing that Republicans were racist by Democrat’s magical black people brainwashing powers.

    Do you disagree?
