    Teddy was also bitten by the progressive bug. In defeat he formed the Progressive (Bull Moose) Party with a platform that included:

    A National Health Service to include all existing government medical agencies.

    Social insurance, to provide for the elderly, the unemployed, and the disabled

    A minimum wage law for women

    An eight hour workday

    A federal securities commission

    Farm relief

    Workers' compensation for work-related injuries

    An inheritance tax

    A Constitutional amendment to allow a Federal income tax

    He may have thought patriotism was standing by the nation rather than an individual or party but he sure was in favor of the progressive ideals of big federal government control.

    “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.”

    Tried to find when he said it, but no success. Wondered if it was before he became president and the power corrupted him.

    Evidently epic fail boy is all for adoration of presidents and public officials as a way to express patriotism. Typical progressive.
