UN Ambassador Samantha Power Shows Obama’s True Colors. Judge a man by his deeds; judge a president by his legislation and appointees.

US Ambassador Samantha Power once quipped American’s foreign policy was akin to that of the Nazi’s. And most recently she tweeted, “Daniel Pearl’s story is reminder that individual accountability & reconciliation are required to break cycles of violence.’

Huh? Just what exactly is that supposed to mean? Who should is accountable and who should we be reconciling with? It sounded like she was blaming Pearl. The tweet response as angry as it was swift. As a result, Ms. Power has since tried to walk back what she said.

spower478 (Power shown at left) Just before her appointment the Times Israel reported,””A decade-old video of Samantha Power calling for the US to shift Israeli military aid to Ramallah and to deploy forces to protect Palestinians from IDF troops may prove a hurdle in the UN envoy nominee’s confirmation process.” No hurdle at all, as it turned out, this fit’s perfectly with Obama’s views.

The reporter went on to say, “You should watch the video to see her snide laughter when she speaks of ignoring Jewish voters. But even with just this transcript, it’s difficult to decide what’s the worst of it. Is it her casual comparison of the IDF’s anti-terror campaign to the violence that led to Srebrenica or the Rwandan genocide? Is it her dismissal of the moral question surrounding admittedly “fundamentally undemocratic” actions as irrelevant because “liberal democracy” requires the invasion of allies with whom we disagree? Is it her endorsement of Tom Friedman’s moral equivalence between Yasir Arafat and Ariel Sharon?”

In another article at the Blacksphere website: “You should watch the video to see her (Power) snide laughter when she speaks of ignoring Jewish voters. But even with just this transcript, it’s difficult to decide what’s the worst of it. Is it her casual comparison of the IDF’s anti-terror campaign to the violence that led to Srebrenica or the Rwandan genocide? Can you believe this is our Ambassador to the UN?

    No.

But this is the radical type of person Obama would appoint, so in that respect I can believe it.

She is the wife of Cass Sunstein who once, according to Salon, proposed having…

“…the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-‘independent’ advocates to ‘cognitively infiltrate’ online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems ‘false conspiracy theories’ about the Government….

…He also proposes that the Government make secret payments to so-called “independent” credible voices to bolster the Government’s messaging (on the ground that those who don’t believe government sources will be more inclined to listen to those who appear independent while secretly acting on behalf of the Government). This program would target those advocating false “conspiracy theories,” which they define to mean: “an attempt to explain an event or practice by reference to the machinations of powerful people, who have also managed to conceal their role.”

    Absurd right?

But we have to wonder, to what degree have this couples views infiltrated the presidents mind to affect policy? IRS targeting, NSA snooping, attempts to have the FCC intimidate about programming…this administration has been way over the top.

Ever heard of the “Atrocities Prevention Board”?

What is Presidential Study Directive 10 (PSD-10)?

PSD-10 was an August 2011 directive by the President of the United States declaring the prevention of mass atrocities and genocide to be a “core national security interest and core moral responsibility” of the United States. PSD-10 ordered the creation of a Atrocities Prevention Board (APB). It also directed the National Security Advisor to lead a comprehensive review to assess the U.S. government’s anti-atrocity capabilities, and recommend reforms that would fill identified gaps in these capabilities.

What is the Atrocities Prevention Board and why does it matter?

The Atrocities Prevention Board is a new interagency body formed on April 23, 2012 to ensure that genocide and mass atrocity prevention are a priority at the highest levels of the U.S. government. It is meant to provide a comprehensive whole-of-government approach to identify and address atrocity threats and oversee institutional changes to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. The Atrocities Prevention Board seeks to fill a major gap in U.S. foreign policy. As President Obama explained when calling for the Board’s creation in August 2011, “sixty six years since the Holocaust and 17 years after Rwanda, the United States still lacks a comprehensive policy framework and a corresponding interagency mechanism for preventing and responding to mass atrocities and genocide.” With PSD-10 and the new Atrocities Prevention Board, the U.S. government now has that framework.

Who is on the Atrocities Prevention Board?
The Atrocities Prevention Board (APB) is made up of representatives from several agencies including the Departments of State, Defense, Treasury, Justice, and Homeland Security, the Joint Staff, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, The Central intelligence Agency, and the Office of the Vice President – all of whom are at the Assistant Secretary level or higher. It is chaired by the National Security Staff’s Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights.

How well has this fancy shmancy new board worked so far in the Middle East and Africa? Anyone? Some consider the drone attacks on villages somewhat genocidal.

But most of what this administration does is for show…just creating this board means that Obama has “done something” about genocide!

Powers is part of the very radical elements on the left. She is a citizen of the world type who believes the UN should have much greater powers and is about changing definitions of words to fit the progressive world view of power and control in the hands of the few…CATO:

The first several chapters of A Problem from Hell (Her book) are devoted to the tireless travails — spanning more than two decades — of Polish legal scholar Raphael Lemkin to invent and legitimize the concept of genocide and to make it a crime under international law. Lemkin’s achievement was the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which defined genocide as “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group, as such: Killing members of the group; Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; Deliberately inflicting on the group the condition of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”

It is important to recognize that this legal definition of genocide is very different from the more common dictionary definition, which probably is how most people think of it. The American Heritage Dictionary defines genocide as “the systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.”

Did you spot the weenie words in the UN definition? Try, “Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group”

That could mean something as simple as allowing a religion to exist! Definitions like this are ripe for abuse and allow for selective targeting by tyrannical abusers.

This is the woman who referred to Hillary Clinton as “a monster” during the primaries…takes one to know one I guess.

The Washington Post’s Jennifer Ruben refers to a Gallup Poll that, “For the first time, more Americans think President Barack Obama is not respected by other world leaders than believe he is,” and it’s pretty clear why they do:

It is not hard to see why. Around the goal the president has generated contempt, dismay, or disappointment — but rarely respect. He has shied from enforcing his own red line. He has failed to articulate a U.S. policy toward the countries undergoing turmoil in the Middle East. He’s pushing a rotten deal with Iran. He bugged out of Iraq entirely, and now an al-Qaeda flag flies over Fallujah, where just a few years ago Americans lost their lives by the dozens to turn back jihadists. …

…Instead of declaring that a decade of war is over he would do well to declare that we live in times of great opportunity but also danger. He could say specifically we stand with the students in Venezuela, the dissidents in Cuba, the imprisoned victims of Vladimir Putin and the people throughout the Middle East yearning to be free. A simple statement of where we stand and whom we support (with free peoples and those seeking freedom) would be a start.

The CS Monitor asks, “Will Obama’s new atrocities board lead to more Libya-style operations?”

Creation of the new board (Atrocities Prevention Board) represents a victory for the “interventionist” wing of the Obama foreign policy apparatus. The president’s announcement was hailed by Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the United Nations and a key advocate of a forceful US role in Libya last summer.

Ambassador Rice, who is considered by some a leading candidate to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of State in an potential Obama second term, said in a statement that “atrocities” like those of Libya, Cote d’Ivoire, and Syria “are not inevitable.” But she added they will only be stopped by strengthening “the world’s will and capacity to make ‘never again’ an enduring reality.”

The new board will be chaired by Samantha Powers, the National Security Council senior director for multilateral and humanitarian affairs and another interventionist hawk.

This administration won’t be taken seriously no matter what they do. The world must endure the next three years and pray we all survive. His leadership has resulted in chaos and death and the rise of our enemies to greater heights of power.

Reverend Al Sharpton Takes Time Off From Holy Duties To Make TV Appearance

NEW YORK—Taking a break from his busy schedule of pastoral duties, the Rev. Al Sharpton set aside time Monday evening to make an appearance on a cable news channel, sources have confirmed. “Given his professional obligations and personal devotion to spreading the Gospel, we were simply thrilled that the reverend was able to find time for us and come on our show,” television producer Sophie Josten said of the 59-year-old Baptist clergyman, who when not conducting a worship service, ministering to the sick, or teaching a seminar at a local divinity school reportedly prefers to spend his time sequestered in silent prayer. “After we showed him how to speak into his microphone properly and told him which camera to look into, he took to it like a pro, generously sharing his views on any topic that came up during the broadcast. He left in a hurry though, no doubt to spend his evening offering one-on-one spiritual counseling to members of his congregation, but we’re sure glad he was able to fit us in.” Sources close to the reverend confirmed that after quickly reprising his role as a guest host on WWE Raw, Sharpton’s next stop would be the hospice where he volunteers as a chaplain.

Well that does sound like the Rev. Al, what a humanitarian. He’s so highly thought of many women of color have chosen to name their babies after him…but, why use his last name? Weird.
