Biggest Lease Holders In Canada’s Oil Sands Are Not Koch’s

The Koch Brothers have been targeted for demonization again in a Washington Post article titled, “The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers”. But the story isn’t true. John Hinderaker of Powerline explains that the writers of the article, Steven Mufson and Juliet Eilperin, relied on a report issued by a far left wing group, International Forum on Globalization to supply the facts for their story.

Why this article and why now? The point seems to be to link the Koch Brothers with Keystone Pipeline and to rally support to keep the President from going forward with it. But that isn’t the only thing going on here. Hinderaker uncovers another seedy aspect to this propaganda driven story:

Who is Post reporter Juliet Eilperin? Among other things, she is married to Andrew Light, who writes on climate policy for the Center for American Progress. The Center for American Progress is an Obama administration front group headed by John Podesta, who is a “special advisor” to the Obama administration. CAP’s web site, Think Progress, has carried out a years-long vendetta against the Koch brothers that has focused largely on the environment.

Please read John Hinderaker’s article in full to get details that make the Post article pure fiction.

Also, the next time you hear something terrible said about the Koch brothers please take it with a grain of salt. They are wealthy men but their businesses provide many good products, they employ a lot of people, and they also just happen to have charitable hearts.

It’s only bad for conservatives to have freedom of speech and expression. It’s acceptable to this administration and its supporter to use the IRS and the media to suppress their opponents any way possible.

“The group that flagged Republican Sen. David Vitter’s comment praising the Koch brothers received $1.5 million from progressive billionaire George Soros.

“I think the Koch brothers are two of the most patriotic Americans,” Vitter said this week at a Louisiana town hall, referring to billionaire conservative donors Charles and David Koch. “Maybe this is a good example, because I’ll be honest with you, God bless the Koch brothers. They’re fighting for our freedom.”

The super PAC American Bridge 21st Century posted video of Vitter’s statement for operatives and the mainstream media to use the senator’s remarks against him.

American Bridge 21st Century, formed by David Brock to capture Republican gaffes, received a $1 million donation from Soros in 2012. Soros gave another $500,000 to the PAC on December 30, 2013. Soros also gave $1 million to Media Matters in 2010 to attack Fox News.

Though the media has vilified the Koch brothers since the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in the Citizens United case, it has shied away from reporting on pro-Obama Super PAC donor Soros’ lavish spending for progressive causes and his influence in the mainstream media.

Soros is also a major donor to the Center for American Progress, the think tank whose advocacy arm oversees the journalism outlet ThinkProgress, which was accused by former writers of coordinating closely with contacts in the Obama administration.

The Koch brothers are the 59th biggest political donors in the United States, with the country’s six largest union donors spending fifteen times more than the Kochs between 1989 and 2014.”

More insight into the motives and connections behind the smearing of the Koch’s at PJ Media.

Trashing the Koch brothers is a favorite progressive/liberal/Democrat pastime. When you cannot win an argument, fear a policy, ideology, or political influence and/or clout, launch ad hominem and be a vicious as you can be in your attack.

The Washington Post is, of course, nothing more than a propaganda arm for the Democratic Party. Like the vast majority of the MSM. Sure, they have token conservatives on board, but they only serve as window dressing.

    Excellent PJ Media link, Tina.
