Healthcare Deadline Alert

UPDATE: Deadline delayed ~ see my post in comments below for details.

The deadline to sign up for Obamacare is next Monday, March 31st. Those who don’t have insurance must sign up or face paying a tax. Please be advised that the tax amount is $95 per adult and $47.50 per child or 1 percent of your household´s annual income…whichever is higher.

Find a handy form to help you figure what your tax will be if you are indeed declining to participate in the Obamacare program. This tax is mandatory for those who choose not to buy insurance by March 31st…the administration likes to call it the “individual shared responsibility payment” but remember the Supreme Court ruled it’s a tax, which is why we are all stuck with the ACA at least for now.

Also, remember if you have insurance already you must declare it on your tax return when you file.

Off topic. Here’s the latest on Benghazi.

As if those lying, thieving criminals did already steal enough of our money!

How much longer are Americans going to stand for this? It’s about time they rise up on their hind legs and do something!

Just heard the President will delay the sign up deadline:

Though the Obama administration repeatedly insisted that its March 31 enrollment deadline for Obamacare’s first year was “firm,” many observers predicted that the administration would combat lagging sales of health law-sponsored insurance plans by extending that deadline. Sure enough, on Tuesday night the White House indicated that it would be postponing that drop date in order to squeeze as many people as possible into the program.

Amy Goldstein of the Washington Post broke the story. Goldstein reports that the revised deadline “will apply to the federal exchanges operating in three dozen states” and extend for two to three weeks.

On the spectrum of things that the White House has pushed back or changed about Obamacare, this is a relative tweak. The original open enrollment period for the first year of Obamacare was set up to last for six months; instead it will last for 6.5 months. Unlike some of the clearly illegal extensions and delays that the White House has put forth, this one appears to be legal; the text of the Affordable Care Act doesn’t specify how long the open enrollment period should be, leaving that task to the regulators at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

CMS: ‘We don’t actually have the statutory authority’ to extend deadline

But that’s not what the Obama administration was saying until now. On March 11, Julie Bataille, the appropriately-surnamed spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said that “we have no plans to extend the open enrollment period. In fact, we don’t actually have the statutory authority to extend the open enrollment period in 2014.” On March 12, when Rep. Kevin Brady of the House Ways and Means Committee asked HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius: “Are you going to delay the open enrollment beyond March 31st?” Sebelius replied, “No, sir.”

However, in that same testimony, Sec. Sebelius gave herself the loophole that she is now using to push back the deadline. “We have made it clear that if, through no fault of their own, they were unable to enroll, that eligibility extends to a delayed enrollment period, and they will have a special enrollment period we have the authority to grant.”

But the administration isn’t going to bother with those caveats in the end. Reports Goldstein, people who haven’t signed up by March 31 will be able to “rely on an honor system” to attest that “they tried to enroll before the deadline…the government will not try to determine whether the person is telling the truth.”

How long ago was this piece of trash legislation passed?

Peggy I look forward to that next open hearing.

Aren’t all of these delays what Ted Cruz was asking for when he was accused of shutting down the government, which was really done by Obama and Reid?

Hopefully, everyone will remember the barricades keeping WWII vets out of their memorial this November when they vote. Did anyone hear how all of those signs and barricades were printed and on hand the first day of the shutdown?

Tina, You mean another Obamacare “Period” was just another one of those Obama “probably not”

Obamas namesake is really a disaster that seems to consume itself daily.

The ‘Roll Out” of the law appears to be a bus under which the American public has been thrown under. Once more by poor Administrative(lack of) leadership we have a currently failed program, and the not so surprising thing to me is lack of support by the very people who helped re-elect Obama and maintain his incompetent cabinet of theorists.

    Freedom tax.

It is none of the IRS’s business whether anyone has health insurance or not. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Democratic party, Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, Ginsberg, Breyer, and especially Roberts, and can go to hell. May all of the above please drop dead at their earliest possible convenience.

No Insurance Is Better than Unapproved Insurance Under Obamacare

Obamacare penalizes the ‘wrong’ insurance 18 times more than no insurance.

Obamacar Threatens in New Release —

“You only have a few days left to get coverage for 2014,” the email said. “Remember, if you don’t sign up by March 31st, you can’t get covered until next year,” the email continues. “If you can afford to pay for insurance and choose not to have it, you could pay a fee of up to 1% of your income on your 2014 taxes.”

Ostensibly 5 million have signed up. That figure is questioned and is very likely just another a bald faced lie from the Obama administration, an administration that is adept at bald faced lies.

But, what the heck, let’s accept that figure as truthful no matter how dubious a claim it is. There are approximately 300 million American citizens (low ball figure). This means that 98.3% of the population has not singed up for ObamaAbuse and is subject to a 1% income tax.

    Are you getting it yet?

I repeat, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Democratic party, Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, Ginsberg, Breyer, and especially Roberts, can go to hell. May all of the above please drop dead at their earliest possible convenience.
