Bank Robber Caught

by Jack

For some reason the ER didn’t reveal the address of the man who allegedly robbed Tri-Counties Bank.  I’m wondering, was it because he didn’t have an address?  If he was a transient this would be a very important fact to reveal to the community.  We’ve been victimized by transients pouring into Chico for the last few years and bringing a lot of crime (stabbings) with them.    Then again some people may not want that known because they have their own agenda.   Guess we shall have to wait and see.    “An officer made contact with Sean McCarthy, 48, who ran. The officer’s K-9, Grobi, caught up with him. McCarthy was arrested after fighting with the dog and other officers.  Police found money from the robbery on McCarthy, according to a Chico police press release. No gun was located.”

Since when does any felon’s address make the papers? Can’t have you vigilantes frightening the children, if there should happen to be any.

Libby, of course you would agree with Dewey because neither of you understand how patterns are helpful to fighting crime. You instead go off again on some tangent that is completely irrelevant because it fits your bias.

Dewey, for the last 130 years or more people who are arrested for serious crimes in Chico usually have their address printed in the local paper. During this time there’s not been one instance of mobs taking the law into their hands. It would be helpful for the community to know, for problem solving reasons, if the people committing major crimes like murder, robbery and grand theft are established local residents or if they are new arrivals as in transient types. This is to see if there is a pattern. If there is a pattern, that’s the first step to mitigating these crimes. Dewey, you really need to think deeper before you speak.

Yes indeed he is transient . I know this piece of crap. He is either in prison or rehabs racking up tax payers dollars. For some reason guy rents keeps taking him back to try and employ him. But that never works either. Jody alsdorf from tri county treatment gives him a free bed whenever she likes. Even though NO one else gets that kind of treatment. I hope the scum is off the streets for awhile.

Debbie thank you for sharing that with us. People need to know this stuff. I see new transients arriving every day and it’s a major problem. They are not hard to spot, almost always males between the ages of 25 and 40, but lately I’ve seen a number of younger females on the road travelling with men.

The new arrivals will be carrying a major backpack load fill with all kinds of camping gear and clothing. They usually travel in 2’s and 3’s. They setup camp right off usually in upper park if space is available, or under nearby bridges and along the creeks not far from the upper park or downtown. Within a few days they have scored a mountain bike and they learn the routine where to go for free stuff from other transients. The police are told to tread lightly because the chief does want to single them out for enforcement. However, saturated enforcement is what it takes to discourage more new arrivals. Right now our city liberals have extended so many free things to them Chico is a prime destination for those on the road. Bidwell park if full of transients hanging out and sleeping almost all day long. Then they prowl at night and see what they can make off with or they stay drinking or doing drugs. Everything the liberals here have done so far has only encouraged more bums to come here. But, if you ask these bleeding hearts about the bums, they are convinced these are almost local people laid off because of the economy. They’re just trying to get by until they can find work… (choke) W-O-R-K!? WHY?

Jack, again, I’m concerned here. There are now, it seems, two subjects under discussion.

First, I quarreled with this “address in the paper” thing. I’m right and you’re wrong. The ER would never print the address of an arrestee in the paper. Their exposure to civil liability would be huge. The most you’ll ever get is “resident of Magalia.”

And your vagrant bank robber is, alas, a resident of Chico.

Now as to patterns of criminal activity: the cops did, indeed, apparently, have experience of this fellow and his habits, and so they caught him.

This is all cool, and an entirely different subject.

So, I’m thinking I might be seeing signs of mental confusion here … in addition to our usually vociferous differences of opinion.

No Libby, he’s not my vagrant bank robber, I just wondered if he might be a transient? Did you not notice the commenter who knew the bank robber and confirmed he was a problem person who has been hanging around for some time, but he was by no means what we would call a resident of Chico. And it’s you who got the ER story wrong. It was not his criminal history or habits that led to his arrest, it was the fact the cops saw him run from the bank who went in pursuit and then called for a canine unit that eventually caught him. Don’t believe me? Here’s the story, “Within a few minutes, officers spotted a man in the Lindo Channel, near the 800 block of Manzanita Court, by the Holiday Inn and Roses and Ivy Elder Care. Chico police Sgt. Scott Zuschin said two officers had just pulled into the parking lot of the bank when the suspect was racing out. Once they heard the radio call, they were able to start the search. All other officers who were available “saturated the area,” Zuschin explained. An officer made contact with Sean McCarthy, 48, who ran. The officer’s K-9, Grobi, caught up with him. McCarthy was arrested after fighting with the dog and other officers. Police found money from the robbery on McCarthy, according to a Chico police press release. No gun was located.”

As for the address of suspects being shown in the paper, I’ve seen many times where an address has been published and other times when its been omitted and still other times when they just refer to a person’s city. This is a judgment call Libs, there’s no exposure to liability. The press has a legal right to published an arrested person’s address, period. I’m surprised that you would not know this? Almost everyone else knows, it’s called freedom of the press. It’s called public information. It’s about the 1st amendment. The paper has no liability for publishing an arrested person’s address..it’s protect speech.

The funny part is you act like we are equal footing for our opinions in this case. Libby, with all due respect did you forget that I’m a retired police detective?

I can imagine; Bidwell Park alone has to be a major draw!!

“…they are convinced these are almost local people laid off because of the economy.”

An economy brought to us by liberal policy! The liberal response to a bad economy, feel sorry for people. That’s why they think more money from taxpayers and more/better services will help…it shows how sorry they feel. (Ugh)

Young unemployed people need jobs…pity don’t do squat!
