Israel Stands Against Relentless Radical Enemy

Israel will extend a humanitarian cease fire through Sunday night; Hamas rejects Gaza truce, fires three rockets into Israel.

That’s the latest news from the AP and Reuters. But the truth is that the terror threat Israel faces is unrelenting. It feeds on hatred of the Jews and an intentionally created victim-hood of the Palestinian people. Israel has survived because of the strength and dignity of its people whose own core religion is based in good works and compassion. Through bus bombings, rocket attacks, suicide bombers and the constant awareness that disaster can strike at any moment the Israeli people have prevailed and thrived on a tiny strip of land in a vast hostile region. Anyone that takes the time to notice can easily see that Israel is not the aggressor and truly desires to live in peace.

But peace is never an option for Israel. The ongoing threat nearly every home in Israel is equipped with a bomb shelter. It means that every young person is called into military service. It means that Israel is constantly innovating; involved in research to find new ways to defend themselves. Sympathies for their perceived victims means that Israel must walk a tight rope of diplomacy; strong defensive measures bring condemnation, a weak response could lead to death d destruction for its people. Meanwhile the so-called victims in this fight shield terrorists and war making materials behind women, children and the sick and elderly. They preach hatred in their schools and train their children to become suicide bombers. It’s madness when the only thing that stands between them and peace, between them and a permanent state is their hatred for the Jews. If they are victims, they are victims of the cold blooded terrorists who use them as weapons in their religious wars.

Israel revealed that they currently face a much greater threat than in the past:

The prime danger, the second half of the terror strategy that has required us to send our troops into Gaza, has turned out to be Hamas’s cross-border tunneling, the scale of which was not publicly known until the last few days. Labor Party leader Isaac Herzog spoke Tuesday of the “unimaginable” mega-terror attack Hamas is believed to have been planning — sending hundreds of terrorists swarming through those tunnels to massacre Israelis in the Gaza-envelope kibbutzim and moshavim. Netanyahu said Sunday that the intended Hamas attacks on kibbutz kindergartens, homes and dining halls would have been “catastrophic.”

Five times in recent days, trying to use those tunnels before the army finds them, well-armed terror gangs have made their way through — entering them from beneath homes in the Gaza neighborhoods a few hundred yards from the border, and emerging inside Israel. An estimated 20 Hamas gunmen have been killed in the subsequent confrontations; so have six IDF soldiers. Kibbutzim and moshavim close to Gaza have been placed on shutdown for long hours while the army made sure there were no more killers on the loose. Troop deployments on the Israeli side have been significantly bolstered.

But those are defensive measures. The real battle is taking place in those Gaza border neighborhoods — Shejaiya, Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun and others — where thousands of Israeli solders are searching, house to house, for the tunnel entrances. Dozens of openings have been found — multiple entrances to the underground passages that also have multiple exits on the Israeli side. Time after time, Hamas gunmen have sought to surprise the Israeli soldiers by rising out of the earth from these openings, and firing. They’ve been largely unsuccessful. Ten Hamas gunmen were shot dead attempting the feat from one tunnel opening inside a mosque on Sunday, military sources said — just one of numerous such incidents.

Israel says some 210 Hamas fighters have been killed; more than 20 have been captured and are providing intelligence on the tunnels.

Israeli soldiers have been killed in booby-trapped buildings and by children as young as thirteen who were wired as suicide bombers.

But the most disturbing development for me as an American looking on is our nations failure to stand firmly behind Israel and against the deadly aggression of the terrorists. Our decision to shut down flights to Ben-Gurion airport was a clear signal of weakness and capitulation; a clear signal that America would do very little to come to the aid of our long time friend and ally, Israel. Another very disturbing realization is the fact that we continue to fund an organization that feeds rockets into the hands of Hamas:

…Gaza’s terrorist government hides its rockets in schools, fires from next to mosques, buries its ammunition under homes, sets up its command and control centers in hospitals. We all now also know that when its rockets are found in schools run by UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency), UNRWA gives them back to Hamas (and the US keeps on funding UNRWA). (emphasis mine)

If that isn’t bad enough the Telegraph reports tonight that North Korea is negotiating with Hamas in an arms deal:

Hamas militants are attempting to negotiate a new arms deal with North Korea for missiles and communications equipment that will allow them to maintain their offensive against Israel, according to Western security sources.

Security officials say the deal between Hamas and North Korea is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and is being handled by a Lebanese-based trading company with close ties to the militant Palestinian organization based in east Beirut.

Hamas officials are believed to have already made an initial cash down payment to secure the deal, and are now hoping that North Korea will soon begin shipping extra supplies of weapons to Gaza.

“Hamas is looking for ways to replenish its stocks of missiles because of the large numbers it has fired at Israel in recent weeks,” explained a security official. “North Korea is an obvious place to seek supplies because Pyongyang already has close ties with a number of militant Islamist groups in the Middle East.”

It’s embarasing that America’s hapless, politicized media continues to wrongly present Israel as a radical aggressor nation:

On CNN, the Islamist Turkish prime minister says Israel has “surpassed what Hitler did.” A CNN reporter calls Israelis “scum”; a NBC reporter tweets a scurrilous article calling U.S. Jews who join the IDF “America’s Israeli jihadists”; and a writer for Gawker says it’s time to send the Jews back to Germany. Reporters once embedded with military forces. Now the talking points of a military force—the talking points of Hamas—are embedded in the U.S. media.

And the always political American left is beginning to float the absurd notion that Republicans (Or the Tea Party) are interested in starting WWIII. Are they completely void of even basic awareness about the result of the last five years of progressive liberal appeasement policy? Can they be any less adult and more stupid? Yes…yes they can!

Anti- Israel protesters have taken to the streets to protest Israel both in in Europe and in America. Many of these are ill-informed students who would follow the bus to any cause driven party but lets not deceive ourselves, many more are people who just hate Jews and who sympathize with the terrorists and their intent to wipe Jews and Israel from the face of the earth.

Meanwhile, our own leadership continuesto exist in a full blown narcissistic universe. President Obama vacations and is kept informed (by tweet?)… (And hopefully well guarded, thank God). Secretary Kerry continues to work on a cease fire, the affect of which would only allow terrorists to re-arm and regroup to attack Israel again. I wonder if he’s tried his signature guitar diplomacy yet? Whatever…Israel is having none of it.

Who can blame them! When your enemy will not relent until you are decimated, and your allies cannot be counted on to stand by you, there is little left to do but mount the strongest defense possible and world opinion be damned. God bless and keep them.

It’s good to see how clearly some (many?) Americans see this.

Israeli Ambassador REAMS OUT CNN for not reporting UN statement that says Hamas makes UN schools a target:

    “This is EPIC.

Israeli Ambassador to the US, Ron Dermer, reamed out CNN host Erin Burnett for CNN showing split-screens of dead and injured children for 2 hours, showing reports from their reporter in Gaza, while not once mentioning the fact that just yesterday the UN Secretary General issued a statement warning people that Hamas is storing weapons in these UN schools and thus making them a target.

Demer hits hard from the beginning of the interview and doesn’t let up until it’s over.”
