Who’s in Charge of Security Here at Home

Posted by Tina

This morning came news that four men with known ties to terrorist organizations tried to cross into America on the Texas Mexico border…the date, September 10th. The men were apprehended at two different border stations.

A report from Breitbart today tells of a call by ISIS for Lone Wolves in America to target US military personnel, find out where they live, and “show up and slaughter them.” On September 16 a Rochester NY naturalized American from Yemen, Mafid A. Elfgeeh, was charged with trying to recruit lone wolf attackers who would target “American military personnel returning from the Middle East.”

A union immigration official told Andrew Johnson of National Review that changes to immigration law put in place recently by the President make it easier for terrorists to enter the country:

In a statement obtained by National Review Online, the U.S. National Citizenship and Immigration Services Council, a union representing 12,000 federal immigration agents, sounded the alarm that not only could jihadists “slip across our porous southern border,” but that fighters could also “exploit our loose and lax visa policies to gain entry to the United States.”

USCIS cites two main issues: a dearth of resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for enforcement and tracking and the administration’s decision to increase the number of immigrants allowed in for asylum purposes.

“Our caseworkers cannot even do in-person interviews for people seeking citizenship, they cannot enforce restrictions on welfare use, and they even lack even the basic office space to properly function,” union president Kenneth Palinkas said in the statement. “Applications for entry are rubber-stamped, the result of grading agents by speed rather than discretion. We’ve become the visa clearinghouse for the world.”

Knowing all of this it is of little comfort to know that President Obama’s choice to head up National Security is Jey Johnson who was a top money bundler for Obama but has very little management, executive, or immigration experience:

DHS employs 240,000 people and boasts a $40 billion budget. Johnson, unlike his most recent predecessors, has never actually held an executive position governing a state or managing a complex organization. Let me summarize his relevant experience in border security, port security, airport security or immigration enforcement: Zero. Zip. Nada.

News coverage instead stresses that Johnson is the “first African-American” to hold the No. 1 position at DHS. Because, you know, diversity will keep us safe. Here’s more you should know about Johnson: He’s a lifelong beneficiary of the government/law firm revolving door, dating back to the Clinton years. In a recent interview with a legal website, Johnson cheerfully bragged that his initial “foray into national security was a fluke, really. The Clinton White House recruited me to be general counsel of the Air Force. I had no idea what the job was about, had never been in the military and had never set foot in the Pentagon.”

Yes this guy can write legal papers till he’s blue but does he know how to run the department charged with securing our safety at home? I sense that those who work under him and the President area little more than nervous and overworked and buried under a mountain of upper management decisions.

This reminds me of the DHS scandal and cover up.

Controversial DHS Adviser Let Go Amid Allegations of Cover Up:

“A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) adviser long engulfed in controversy over his radical views was let go from his role in the department last week after a long fight by lawmakers and others to revoke the individual’s privileges at DHS.

Mohamed Elibiary was until last week a senior member of DHS’ Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). After years of controversy about his status at DHS, Elibiary announced his final day with the department on Twitter earlier this month and said he would remain close to the agency.

Media outlets have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his departure, speculating that his provocative comments about the “inevitable” return of the Muslim “caliphate” may have played a role.

New documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon indicate that Elibiary had no choice in the matter, and that he may have been let go by DHS in order to minimize the fallout from an investigation into allegations that he improperly accessed and used classified materials obtained with his security clearance.

“I think two things contributed to him getting the boot by DHS,” Poolse said. “The first was that Twitter gave the world an unfiltered look into the twisted extremist worldview of Mohamed Elibiary. It is amazing that someone in Homeland Security public affairs didn’t put the clamp down on that. So his social media use was attracting nothing but negative attention.”

“The other thing was that the phony … investigation into Elibiary’s document leaking was quickly unraveling,” Poole said. “I knew the ‘investigation’ was phony because neither my source or myself were ever contacted by DHS about the matter, and members of Congress who were making inquiries knew that at best it was one-sided. And when DHS couldn’t provide a single email or document in response to the Judicial Watch FOIA to prove this investigation ever took place, the jig was up.”

“I suspect they’re cutting him loose so they don’t have any more congressional inquiries about how they handled, or more accurately didn’t handle, that matter,” Poole said.

Obumble is sending 3000 military to fight Ebola in Africa, yet our southern border remains a sieve…
And when the next terror attack here is found to have come via Mexico, da Prez will scramble frantically to find another video to blame.

  3. Libby says:

In charge? The agency that caught them is certainly on the ball. Nothing is good enough for you people.

Or … Breitbart don’t generate ad revenue unless your knickers are in a twist.

I wouldn’t let ’em twist my knickers.

  4. Post Scripts says:

    J. Soden, I’ve been told that US military will be used to build clinics. That’s not the mission of our military. And that means they won’t be using any protective gear while working in the Ebola hot spots.

  5. Post Scripts says:

Libby, the fact that 4 jihadi’s on 9/10 were picked up by border patrol is no reason to think others have not tried and had better results. The point being, until we have a more secure border our national security is left too much to chance.

  6. Tina says:

The agency that caught them is overwhelmed due to the idiocy behind the administration’s immigration games, as are the immigration courts.

I am happy they caught these guys… I didn’t say I wasn’t. I said it doesn’t give me comfort to know the people at the top are amateurs considering the times in which we are living.

As if your panties were not in a twist all during the previous administrations eight years.

The big question for HS is how many were not caught and what are they up to? You may not want to think about it, or talk about it, but that doesn’t mean we have to stick our heads in the sand.

Oh, and NPR “don’t generate no revenue” without government, corporate, foundation, and university assist so put a cork in it.

  7. Tina says:

So true Jack; they only have to get lucky once! To remain safe we have to work to prevent every one of them.

  8. Dewey says:

Everything wrong in the world is Obama’s fault and George Bush is a saint got it!

    • Post Scripts says:

Dewey, who said everything in the world is Obama’s fault? Not me, nor anyone here! There’s a bizzillion things that are NOT his fault and could never be his fault, but those things that are open to criticism are too numerous and they can not be explained away, short of admitting to his incompetence. Take off your blinders.

  9. Libby says:

“To remain safe we have to work to prevent every one of them.”

Not possible. Unless you want to live in a self-imposed Gulag of a State … which I do not.

    • Post Scripts says:

It’s not possible to stop every one of them. We know that. However, we should try. No Gulag State is required to try…key word try…as in make a diligent effort. To act in a prudent manner. To be cautious and cognizant of the risks. In other words…we must try harder and smarter.

  10. Dewey says:

    Post I have no blinders….

There are big issues to fight him on. GOP fake crap is to hide the stuff they do not want people to know

Why not take a look at Canada’s FIPA Harper just shoved on the Canadian people and their reaction…TPP will be ours…

Corporations are destroying the sovernighty of countries with these trade agreements. When a corporation can sue a country for lost profits because they did not get their way… World fascism…

try stepping outside the box, ignore conspiracy theories and look at actual documents!

McClintok wants to sell off Yosemite if he gets the chance! Koch Boyz want it! Drill baby Drill China needs Oil!

I fully disagree with you and I have lot’s of beefs with this admin

  11. Dewey says:

BTW Bush named Homeland Security, Obama uses the word and now other politicians are calling us the homeland.

We are not the Homeland…That was Hitlers name for his Homeland he was creating for his Aryan nation

We are the United States of America

  12. Tina says:

Libby: “Not possible. Unless you want to live in a self-imposed Gulag of a State … which I do not.”

Nor do I, but the goal still should be that…nonchalance is what brought the towers down. Also Boston, Fort Hood…we can do better than that and have.

  13. Libby says:

Tina, don’t contradict yourself. If you mean: “Yes, I do” … then say so.

  14. Libby says:

Oh … and Jack … you too.

  15. Tina says:

Libby you’re such a phony…ordering people around, demanding they pay up, advocating very restrictive big government controls in peoples lives…you’d love to create a gulag society as long as you could call the shots.

You fool no one; your bossy, controlling nature just makes comments like the above a much bigger joke.

  16. Post Scripts says:

Libby, I appreciate your solo view and I try to see things through your eyes, I really do! Why would I do that if I am a crazy right-winger?

Because all perspectives should be considered! We try to do that here, but sometimes it’s real frustrating when folks do hit and run comments/

That’s a major problem I keep running into with your posts. You almost never elaborate enough to fully justify your positions, you just trash ours and exit. This does not advance learning. Say what you would do to fill the void if our ideas are tossed out. That would mean we’re in a dialog and I could respect that. Chris and I frequently have those kind of dialogs. But, the bottom line here is that would be helpful to understanding Libby. Please know, I am not picking on you, I am asking to know more about what you are thinking. If someone values what you have to say I would think you would want to take advantage of it and tell them. This is not a trap, it’s just an offer to consider more of what you are saying…that’s all.

  17. Dewey says:

Tina those comments to Libby are uncalled for and sound like a hater. You owe them an apology.

  18. Tina says:

Dewey: “Tina those comments to Libby are uncalled for and sound like a hater.”

Put a sock in it, Bozo, and look in the mirror. There is nothing so hateful as a person who demonizes with every other breath…unless its a person who constantly lectures. What d’ya know, you do both.
