The Melting Pot – Good Place to Recruit Terrorists

by Jack

The spread of terrorism in the US gets next to no reporting in comparison to reporting ongoing about Ebola.  Yet, we are far more at risk and involved with the war on terrorism.

Until just a few days ago the FBI has never made it known that we’ve actually had quite a few American citizens going to fight as terrorists, mostly with Islamic groups in Africa.   When we look passed ISIS recruits the numbers jump into the hundreds of militants.   The media was focused on ISIS when asking the FBI about terrorists, but that is a very specific question.  If the media has inquired, what about Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Boko Haram, and dozens of other Muslim terrorist fronts, how’s their recruiting going in the US?   Well,  now that’s a totally different story that has been downplayed or overlooked.

more47For example – the case of three teenage girls being investigated for trying to join Islamic State militants.   A Colorado school official said the Denver area girls — two sisters ages 17 and 15, and a 16-year-old friend — were intercepted in Germany when trying to connect with terrorists in Syria.  The girls were of Somali and Sudanese decent and they were recruited online, as were many others.

“Social media has played a very significant role in the recruitment of young people,” said FBI spokesman Kyle Loven in Minneapolis, home to the largest Somali community in the U.S. Authorities there have been concerned about terror recruiting of the young for years.

“What we’ve experienced here in Minneapolis is that young, disaffected youth who exist primarily on the fringes of society — they seem to be more susceptible to this type of propaganda, unfortunately,” Loven said.

Terror recruiting has been a problem for years in Minneapolis.   Since 2007, roughly 22 young Somali-Americans have traveled to Somalia to take up arms with al-Shabab, an al-Qaida linked group. Those were all men.   Wait, uh, Minneapolis has had a terrorist recruiting problem for years?  Minneapolis is hardly a name that comes up when thinking about Al Qaeda or ISIS recruiting.    That raises the question, what other American cities with large Muslim populations do we have to worry about?   Suddenly this radical recruiting situation looks a whole lot different.

The internet has made it possible for overseas terrorist recruiters in Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Chechnya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc., to dip into our great melting pot and search for new recruits.  So far, they’ve been rather successful, even though we’re only talking numbers in the hundreds.   That’s still a lot of risk to manage.

How many terrorists does it take to cause 3.3 trillion dollars in damage and kill thousands of Americans?  The answer would be 19.  This is the number of hijackers on 9/11.  So, when some liberal spouts off how only a small minority of the Muslims in the US have turned to terrorism, you have no reason to take comfort.  The numbers so far are more than enough to put this entire nation at great risk should these radicals be allowed to return.  To date, there is nothing being done to block their return.

The religious and speech rights we all share in this great melting pot are a weakness that terrorists exploit. More than one person has reported that mosques claiming to preach only a peaceful brand of Islam have secret meetings with a select group within the mosque where violence against Israel, America and the west is preached. The information is available at Jihad Watch, Counter Jihad Report, and Mapping Sharia. Unfortunately some of the reports this information was taken from originally are “no longer available,” in other words, they have been scrubbed from the web.

As long as some people in the melting pot are unable to think outside the politically correct box, we in America, including Muslims who love America and practice their faith peacefully, will be forced to exist in the denial bubble.

It doesn’t help that our children are being taught to think of America as an evil force in the world. There are plenty of non-Muslim America haters seeking to fundamentally transform this nation because they find it so objectionable.

Call me crazy, but I think its vital that people who live here agree with and value this nation. Our immigration laws need to better serve the people and do a better job of keeping America hating elements OUT!

You live in a paranoid bubble of your own creation … and you’re getting to be soooooooo tedious with it.

Libby, lets start with which part of the story do you deny is true? That terrorists are not recruiting from within the US? That we intercepted these teens on the way to join up with ISIS boyfriends? Do you deny the FBI reports? What? It’s real easy to be smug and talk salty, but without substance its just hot air. At least Chris tends to cites facts and is more focused on what he doesn’t like. (Must give credit when credit is due)

Jack the thing I find tedious is the superior tone of those who refuse to name the enemy and like to pretend terrorism is not a problem and evil men and women are not targeting us for “fundamental transformation” and sharia dominance.

How is it the left can see Hitler and the Nazi’s for what they were but cannot see the similarities in this global threat?

    • Post Scripts says:

A good question Tina. I think it all goes back to political correctness about racism. Hitler was an easy target because he was white. But, with modern day Nazi’s and a Hitler-like thugs in the Arab world, how do the liberals hold them accountable without appearing racist? It’s got the liberals tied in knots! lol Sure, they know they’re bad and we should condemn them, but in their world they have to tread so carefully, so they do all kinds of gyrations to avoid saying (((((Muslim)))) in the same sentence with the word terrorism. It’s almost funny how they bend over to do this.
