The truth that many “Ferguson” protestors hoped would never come out is now here. The 3 months of tedious investigation involving the FBI, Ferguson police, the Dept. of Justice and the St. Louis Grand Jury is now over and the grand jury found Officer Darren Wilson innocent of any wrong doing. They concluded the evidence was overwhelming. Michael Brown was the aggressor and his actions led to his own death.
The protestors in Ferguson, some who have come from hundreds of miles away to riot won’t let truth get in the way of vengeance. They decided long ago to riot and they are, despite a video of the final 10 shots fired that proves Wilson told the truth. They were fully prepared too react with shock and outraged for the TV news and they will, no matter what.
President Obama did all the he reasonable could to heighten racial tensions in a rush to judgment, but in the final analysis he was completely wrong, just as he was in the Trayvon Martin case and the Louis Gates case before that.
As you know, Eric Holder and several White House representatives were dispatched to Ferguson to meet with the friends and family of Michael Brown. It was an act that fueled the volatile situation because it was a mistake and a rush to judgment. It can only be seen for what it was, a move greatly sympathetic to Brown’s family and it was done at the expense of an innocent police officer. Wilson was acting within the law and in self defense, the evidence was overwhelming.
Obama’s actions fed the wrong narrative of what happened, it cast suspicion upon the white cop and the Ferguson Police Dept. and likely led to subsequent acts of violenced. Too many black leaders made assumptions based on false testimony and incited the black community decrying justice for Michael Brown, but now the truth is out and it was Darren Wilson who was being victimized. He was innocent of wrong doing! In the coming hours it will be interesting to see how Browns supporters react to the truth.
If you listened to the statement by the District Attorney, you have no choice but to conclude Michael Brown was the aggressor. You also have no choice but to conclude many of the so-called witnesses lied gave false and misleading statements in the beginning, some recanted and some were proven liars based on evidence that refuted their statements.
Some of those witnesses who said the Officer shot Brown in the back later admitted they were not even present. They finally recanted saying they were just repeating what they heard from others, but so many black leaders believed them without question and that’s disturbing. If this Ferguson mob had their way Wilson would have been lynched because he was white.
Some in the black community will never accept the truth and will continue to believe the lies that fit their bias, but I’m hoping many more will step up and do the right thing and admit… they were wrong. They should speak up and admit we should never rush to judgment because of a person’s race. If it’s wrong for white people to do that, its equally wrong for black people to do it.
If Ferguson has taught us anything, its that racism in certain sections of this country is still a serious problem that has been made worse by racially biased President. The hot-heads and race-baiters will always be among us, that’s just a fact, although it is surprising to find it in our president. However, no matter what side those low characters are on, it’s up to us to reject their rhetoric and stop the violence. That takes a lot of courage…I hope we are up to it.
