Although the processes of climate change are not completely understood, an important causal candidate is variation in total
solar output. Reported cycles in various climate-proxy data show a tendency to emulate a fundamental harmonic sequence of a basic
solar-cycle length (11 years) multiplied by 2N (where N equals a positive or negative integer). A simple additive model for total
solar-output variations was developed by superimposing a progression of fundamental harmonic cycles with slightly increasing
amplitudes. The timeline of the model was calibrated to the Pleistoceney-Holocene boundary at 9,000 years before present.

The calibrated model was compared with geophysical, archaeological, and historical evidence of warm or cold climates during the
Holocene. The evidence of periods of several centuries of cooler climates worldwide called ”little ice ages,” similar to the period
anno Domini (A.D.) 1280-1860 and reoccurring approximately every 1,300 years, corresponds well with fluctuations in modeled
solar output.

A more detailed examination of the climate sensitive history of the last 1,000 years further supports the model. Extrapolation
of the model into the future suggests a gradual cooling during the next few centuries with intermittent minor warmups and a return
to near little-ice-age conditions within the next 500 years. This cool period then may be followed approximately 1,500 years from now
by a return to altithermal conditions similar to the previous Holocene Maximum.

Why is a study from fifteen years ago news?

  2. Harold says:

Oh oh ,this posts subject matter is going to heat up…….

Geez, Jack. Don’t you and these scientists know the science has been settled?

Anyone who does not believe in AGW is incredibly ignorant, a kook or a shill for the oil and coal companies. Just ask the liberals who infest this blog. Or ask Obammie, Pelosi or Algore.

  4. Tina says:

Okay Chris, try a 2015 article about a physicist’s report on the subject.

I know, I know he would be “discredited” in your world because he’s not a climate scientist.

But Jürgen Lange Heine is “a physicist with the German-based European Institute for Climate and Energy.” An excerpt from the article:

Heine argues that warming during the 20th Century was not caused by increasing carbon dioxide emissions, but instead by increasing solar activity, changes in cloud cover caused by cosmic rays and huge amounts of cloud condensation nuclei in the atmosphere from the nuclear weapons tests conducted from 1945 to 1963.

Climate scientists have attributed this warming largely to carbon dioxide emissions emitted from human activities, mainly from burning fossil fuels, but Heine says the connection between carbon dioxide and temperature is only superficial.

“Despite steadily rising carbon dioxide levels observed in the years 1945 to 1975, as well as since 1998, a decrease or stagnation in global temperatures occurred that does not fit with the carbon dioxide hypothesis,” Heine wrote.

The “stagnation” in global temperatures since 1998 Heine refers to is known as the “pause” or “hiatus” in global warming. Both satellite-derived and surface temperature readings show no significant warming trend in global temperatures for the last 10 to 20 years.

More here for those who like some specifics.

    This article:

n Cold Climate Change we will take a good look at the increasingly violent world of volcanoes. In April of 2015 we have some big volcanoes blowing their tops off adding more sunlight-blocking materials high into the atmosphere. Many major eruptions have happened, or are in progress, with no one publically paying attention to their cumulative cooling effect.

Last week (aPRIL 22, 2015) southern Chile’s Calbuco volcano erupted for the first time in nearly half a century, spewing a giant funnel of ash ten kilometers high into the sky and prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency. The 6,500 foot (2,000-meter) Calbuco last erupted in 1972 and is considered one of the top three most potentially dangerous among Chile’s 90 active volcanoes.

The science is not settled, we still have a lot to learn.

    Manufactured political “crisis” is irresponsible.

Brain washing future generations is unforgivable!

Liberals that spout the AGW crap are deceitful, alarmist, self-serving, and arrogant…a bad combination.

Harold I’m more than happy to help fulfill your prediction!

Hard to believe in an ice age when the temp here in AZ is 117 . .

  6. Pie Guevara says:

Tina gets it, Chris, the English major booby prize winner is full of it as usual.

  7. Steve says:

I just want to know WHEN the global warming/cooling frozen wasteland/desert wasteland san Francisco underwater disaster is going to happen. It’s been predicted for 40 some years now and it still hasn’t happened. Is there some point where the science has to put up or shut up?
