Dutch Scraping Multiculturalism – Immigrants Seeking to Change Their Culture Not Welcome

Thanks to Pauline for submitting the following internet letter to us.  I checked it out and it’s fairly old, but its true.  The story came from Gatestone Institute written by Soeren Kern, dated June 23rd 2011.   The article includes information about the covering letter and the 15-page action plan.

The Netherlands , where six per cent of the population is now Muslim, is scrapping multiculturalism.

The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants to create a
parallel society within the Netherlands .

A new integration bill, which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament,  on June 16, 2015 reads:

“The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people.”

In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society, play a central role.  With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.

The letter continues: “A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens.”

It is necessary because otherwise the society  gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands .

The new integration policy will place more demands on immigrants.

For example, immigrants will be required to learn the Dutch language, and the  government will take a tougher approach to immigrants who ignore Dutch values or disobey Dutch law.

The government will also stop offering special subsidies for Muslim immigrants because, according to Donner;

“It is not the government’s job to integrate immigrants.”  (How bloody true!!!)

The government will introduce new legislation that outlaws forced marriages and will also impose tougher measures against Muslim immigrants
who lower their chances of employment by the way they dress.

More specifically, the government imposed a ban on face-covering, Islamic burqas as of January 1, 2015.

Holland has done that whole liberal thing, and realized – maybe too late – that creating a nation of tribes, will kill the nation itself.

The future of Australia , the UK , USA, Canada and New Zealand may well be read here.

READERS NOTE:  Muslim immigrants leave their countries of birth because of civil and political unrest . . . “CREATED BY THE VERY NATURE OF
THEIR CULTURE.”

Countries like Holland , Canada , USA , UK , Australia,  and New Zealand have an established way of life that actually works, so why embrace the unworkable?

If Muslims do not wish to accept another culture, the answer is  simple; “STAY WHERE YOU ARE!!!”

This gives a whole new meaning to the term, ‘Dutch Courage’ … Unfortunately Australian, UK , USA ,   Canadian, and New Zealand politicians don’t have
the guts to do the same.  There’s a whole lot of truth here!!!

Good Letter, Thanks to Pauline for submitting and Post scripts for posting…..

Agreed: Muslim immigrants leave their countries of birth because of civil and political unrest . . . “CREATED BY THE VERY NATURE OF
    THEIR CULTURE.”

Yet as pointed out they bring the very core of their failing culture to countries like the USA and demand we adjust to their values.

However try to do this in reverse and see what happens to you in their homelands.

What’s with this part? The article is from 2011, and originally said this:

“A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads:”

So who added the year “2015” in there, and why?

  3. Chris says:

I also feel like I have a very different definition of “multiculturalism” than this Dutch Interior Minister does. To me, multiculturalism means people from many different cultures coming together and learning from each other, taking what they’ve brought with them and combining it with their new home to make something new.

Donner seems to be defining multiculturalism as a system where people from different backgrounds set up their own semi-segregated communities in their new country, and don’t take part in the larger society of their new homeland. That’s the sense I get from most American conservatives who I’ve seen use the term as well.

By that definition, certainly multiculturalism is a failure, because segregation is always a failure. But I think there are ways to address it. Donner wants immigrants to learn Dutch–OK, is the government going to help immigrants with that? He wants them to not isolate themselves into their own ghetto-ized neighborhoods–OK, why are those neighborhoods so isolated in the first place, and what is being done about poor conditions there that would make them more welcoming to others?

I didn’t know how much segregation existed in my own home town until I started working at Wal-Mart and interacting with so many customers who clearly did not speak any English. On some days this was about a quarter to a third of my customers. But I don’t think the root cause of this is stubbornness. The root cause is poverty. These were mostly farm workers or other people who did not have time or money to take English classes. They live in poor, segregated ghettos because that is all they can afford. Many of them did not even own cars. There are a lot of factors that cause this type of social segregation and I don’t think they can all be blamed on the immigrants themselves.

If we want to promote further integration, (I find the word “assimilation” to have negative connotaitons) I don’t think we’re going to be able to do that just by telling immigrants to integrate. It’s going to require a wider social effort.

It’s also important to remember that EVERY generation of immigrants has faced similar critiques and been accused of not assimilating fast enough. What we’re seeing today might not really be all that different from what we saw in earlier generations.

  4. Tina says:

A recent story out of Seattle comes to mind:

Among the ideas suggested to make housing more affordable for Seattle residents is a segment that will allow Muslims to obtain home loans that are compliant with sharia law.

Countries such as Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom have embraced some forms of Islamic financing, particularly in the form of Islamic bonds known as sukuk.

“Sukuk act much like traditional bonds, delivering payments to investors until maturity,” USA TODAY reported. “To comply with Sharia, the bonds have to be tied to some sort of physical asset. Instead of interest, investors are being rewarded with a share of the profit derived from the asset.”

I don’t get how investors “get a share of the profit” but I’ll set that aside for now.

When immigrants come here part of the process is, or should be, assimilation. A nation divided does not work. How will it work if most of the people in a neighborhood have to pay interest but others don’t?

There must be for Muslims to make private arrangements that doesn’t change American law…perhaps through their mosques.

Mormons make these types of arrangements through the church all the time.

    Assimilate or pick another country.

  5. Pie Guevara says:

Chris exclaims “The root cause is poverty.” It is not. It is the lack of morality and basic human values. Impoverished people are not necessarily criminals nor saints.

Suppose Chris is correct. Should we allow millions of the impoverished to invade our nation?

  6. Pie Guevara says:

It is also important to remember that no immigrant EVER faced American Indian immigration law. Well, they did, but the American Indians had inferior weaponry.

Chris wants us to surrender to the flood of impoverished Mexicans for what reason? The same reason as wealthy Mexicans?

  7. Pie Guevara says:

My bad. This is not simply about Mexico and Mexicans. It is also about the flood of immigrants who are allowed to pass through that boarder.

  8. Tina says:

Assimilation is about making the place you’ve come to your new home by adopting the values, culture and traditions of that nation. If the people don’t want to be Americans, why come here?

That’s not to say their heritage has to be abandoned but it does mean in their everyday lives they would strive to be American. People who come here legally that I’ve talked to want to do just that. They come from poor, often oppressive countries and the freedom and opportunity they find here makes them want to be able to say, “I am an American.” They learn the language, they adopt the same dress, they are eager to participate.

People who come here to work and go back home are a different story. The reforms we need in our immigration laws should include something to address this problem effectively.

It’s my opinion that the concept of anchor babies should come to an end. This is the root cause of much of our current difficulties.

The purpose of assimilation is to create one people, aligned in their identity as Americans. One cannot be a little bit American or segregating by type. It’s divisive and leads to special rules and privileges. A nation divided will not stand.

Some of the traditions of other nations incorporate into America naturally. People come here and start businesses. Food is one example where our melting pot delights just about everyone. In the Southwest we find Mexican clothing and other goods. In New York you find a heavy Italian and Irish influence. But this happened naturally and not as a result of government intrusion or forced multiculturalism.

Unsavory types must be stopped. We would not bring them into our private homes so why would we invite them into our nation home?

It’s not up to accommodate immigrants; it’s up to them to learn our ways and adjust

  9. Harold says:

“That’s not to say their heritage has to be abandoned but it does mean in their everyday lives they would strive to be American. People who come here legally that I’ve talked to want to do just that.”

Well said Tina, if face your entire reply is well stated and a voice of reason.

Thankfully it fly’s in the face of any Liberal dribble posted above it.

Should any immigrate wanting the benefits of being an American not include efforts needed to achieve such, then they need to stay in their country of origin and customs they seek refuge from until they are willing to pay the price of freedom we offer.

  10. Harold says:

oops, typo in Well said Tina, ‘in fact’ is how it should read

Thanks Harold..and I don’t mind the typo as long as the point is clear and it was.

  13. Tina says:

The man is a smart negotiator. He’s challenging the left media in a way I appreciate. That doesn’t make him well informed on all issues or even an honest person.

I like Carly Fiorina’s style a lot better. Her ability to handle the media is great and her overall message hits the mark.

Like many Americans I’m really disgusted and growing more and more impatient with the media’s alignment with the democrat Party. I’m fed up with the games both the media and politicians, Democrat and Republican, play. I’m sick to death of liberal policies that have brought us to mediocrity. I’m sick of policies that grow government at our expense. I’m sick of policies that blunt every Americans chance to build their own nest egg. I’m sick of regulations that kill jobs and innovation.

I can’t see Trump winning in our primary.

Levin nailed it @ your link…love the man!

  14. dewey says:

Tina Trump is a Plutocrat born into wealth who learned how to make money off the bankruptcy laws.

Carly ruined HP. Her excuses are bogus. I worked for HP in Santa Rosa. She was horrible.

But I have a question for you.

Trump speaks of the USA as a company, a Brand. Why do we want a CEO for president to treat America as a company and it’s people as employees for the profit of the CEO’s and wall street investors?

We are not a company, however we have become USA INC. Politicians only work for those who donate to their campaigns.

Modern Fascism is mixing business and state, the Democrats and predominately Republicans are now guilty of treating our citizens like workers who need to work cheaper, longer, and that is not what the founding fathers were trying to create.

Again why do you think we are a business? American Brands are not even American any more, most are owned by holding companies as well, profit is for wall street.

Trump is up to something. He is hilarious. He does not even believe half of what he says. I have listened to his interviews with Stern for years. Stern always get’s The Donald to show he is not as he speaks in the political forum.

Reality is he is upsetting the GOP establishment going after Jeb, I find it amusing. But if he follows through he would be a King CEO not a president.

Another thing to point out, he has spoke against everybody except Walker and Fiorina as far as I can Tell. He is preforming for them? OR Will he actually run?

A great wall along the Mexican Border that is branded TRUMP? A wall that keeps Americans in? There are many a tunnel under the border and that is how they smuggle stuff in.

A Wall does not much of anything but maybe keep the poor immigrants out. The drug trade fly’s over and drops as well as tunnels them in.

Trump/Fiorina 2016? As Scary as Koch Walker 2016. Lesser of these evils is Hilliary who is also a corporatist.

The election and superpac paid Media is corrupt. EVen MSNBC is bought out. They are going to fire every voice for workers or opposing shows to the 1%.

Modern Fascism better called Corporatism by the Oligarchy.

Media is state corporate tv who panders to the superpac money it is billions in profits.

The Media is not aligned with the Democrats, It is aligned to all that domestic and foreign money buying elections. The Democrat party has it’s corrupt bought out politicians as well.

  15. Pie Guevara says:

I would vote for Carly Fiorina.

  16. Pie Guevara says:

Dewey was a janitor at HP.

  17. Mary says:

I agree with Tina that assimilation is necessary for any country to function well.
Education is essential to preserving that our democracy will be appreciated.

When people sneak in they not only miss this learning opportunity, they overwhelm our entitlment programs and create an underclass of isolated people who can’t assimilate.

We need controlled immigration or we are all in trouble. I am shocked at how many people can’t understand this!

  18. Tina says:

Dewey: ” Trump is a Plutocrat born into wealth who learned how to make money off the bankruptcy laws.”

I think there’s a lot more going on there but you go ahead and feed your cynicism if it makes you feel good.

    “Carly ruined HP’

HP hasn’t done well for some time. The competition from new companies is fierce and HP is an old dog in the race. Blaming Carly for all of HP’s troubles is ignorant.

“Why do we want a CEO for president to treat America as a company and it’s people as employees for the profit of the CEO’s and wall street investors?”

    We don’t.

We do want a man that knows how to get the economy rolling again. We want a man that knows how to handle the media. Not saying Trump is the man but the alternatives on the Dem side will see me voting for him should he win the Republican nomination…we’ve had enough failed socialist polices thank you!

The last seven years have been an economic disaster under the socialist policies of this administration, that, by the way, have not hurt Wall Street one bit.

There’s plenty at the trough for everyone as long as the kitchen is open for business…it’s been closed indefinitely for some time.

I agree there’s a lot of corruption in government and in some of our nations biggest companies…so what’s new? Human beings are flawed, always have been, always will be on this earth at least. It’s even worse when our leaders plot and collude with companies for personal advantage.

“the Democrats and predominately Republicans are now guilty of treating our citizens like workers…”

Many of our political leaders are guilty as charged but you have it exactly backwards when it comes to the ideology that defines the two parties. The last seven years should act as a life lesson in that department. Are you paying attention or just listening to the blather in your head?

” why do you think we are a business?”

I don’t. Please don’t put words in my mouth and try to stay conscious when reading my posts.

Trump is talking about America in a manner that at least some people can get. America was once the envy of the world because of our freedom and entrepreneurial spirit. The world looked to America for inspiration and assistance. Property rights and free speech are valuable gifts bequeathed to us from the founders…that is the American “brand” and we are losing it in favor of European socialism.

“Lesser of these evils is Hilliary who is also a corporatist.”

Hillary is a corporatist for Hillary’s benefit and whims…her foundation is as militant and radical as our current president…she’s just more covert about it. Both sit at the feet of Saul Alinsky. Hillary has legal problems and her polling numbers in key states stink! The camera doesn’t like her and she’s a terrible speaker. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Dem Party dumped her. Joe Biden? Bernie Sanders…please! There’s a governor that might give the party a small chance.

“The Media is not aligned with the Democrats, It is aligned to all that domestic and foreign money buying elections.”

Funny they always promote and defend Democrats and have a long record of treating republicans with disdain. Could it be that all that big money prefers the corporatist democrats because they favor power and control vested not in the people but in the elitist few?

The people gave us socialism and the corruption that flows when government get too big for it’s britches by voting democrat for over seventy years.

Wake up Dewey, you support the wrong party if you’re looking for our republic as founded.

It’s not easy to find good, honorable men to act as our leaders. It is still up to us to try and to hold them accountable. But you can’t ask the federal government to take care of all your problems without inviting modern fascism.

  19. Tina says:

Mary: “We need controlled immigration or we are all in trouble. I am shocked at how many people can’t understand this!”

Me too, Mary, but it tells you a lot about the state of education in America. Our own kids are not being taught the values that make America unique in all the world. they don;t have appreciation for their freedoms and the opportunity if affords.

Sigh…we will all just have to keep putting it out there. I know there are a lot of very dedicated teachers out there. Unfortunately many of them are products of our failing school system themselves. You can’t teach what you don;t know!
