Magical Thinking

The President’s recent remarks following the San Bernardino attack bothered me a lot, and not for the obvious reasons. They featured a new gun control proposal that seemed out of place to me. It had never come up before by any leftist gun grabber so it stuck out like a sore thumb:

“Right now, people on the No-Fly list can walk into a store and buy a gun.

This sudden revelation signaled news to me that would soon make Obama look incompetent. So Obama, being magical, jumped to the front to make us think he’s leading the parade! Words are all it takes to absolve this man from responsibility.

We’ve also been reassured recently that the government has an “extensive” vetting schedule for refugees coming into our country. Okay…but even if an extensive policy is in place, can we trust the bloated federal government to carry it out with the military precision required to keep Americans safe? It all depends on whether you believe in the power of magical thinking or you’re wide awake and living in the cities and towns of America where reality happens.

A report today in the Freebeacon is evidence that Americans should be very concerned:

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D., Mass.) disclosed that a congressional investigation recently found that at least 72 people working at DHS also “were on the terrorist watch list.”

Imagine! Terrorist wannabe’s checking for terrorists in the homeland. But don’t worry…the powers that be have this…all will be well. Obama believes in magical thinking!

But…was Fort Hood “Workplace Violence?” Is ISIS a “JV Team?” Is ISIS contained? Were the couple in San Bernadino terrorists…or not!

More from the Freebeacon:

DHS continues to fail inspections aimed at determining the efficiency of its internal safety mechanisms, as well as its efforts to protect the nation…a recent report…found the Transportation Security Administration, which is overseen by DHS, failed to stop 95 percent of those who attempted to bring restricted items past airport security.

Under Obama’s leadership, and current gun policy as carried out, not only has it been possible for terrorists to purchase guns, it’s been possible for persons of questionable background to come into our country on an engagement visa. Under his leadership a reported 95% failure rate occurs at our airports! Under his leadership, and a party that held a super majority for two full years, gun control was never addressed and now the President reveals to us that people on the no-fly list can buy guns…he calls the problem a loophole! I’d call it a failure to be wide awake. I’d call it a failure to take the necessary steps to keep America safe!

And if all of that isn’t crazy enough, we learn that terror watch list suspects work in the Department of Homeland Security!

fairy dustBut hey…in the world of Magical Thinking, “What difference at this point does it make?”

We can always just sprinkle a little fairy dust…

(Nobody will die…really…trust us)

Obumble himself is a big danger to the country. Shouldn’t he be on the no-fly list?

Here’s a university president that’s not waiting for Obama to keep his students safe.

Also, wasn’t it reported that there are individuals who are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood working in the Obama administration. Two that come to mind are Valerie Jarrett and Huma Aberdine.

    Cut and paste—

“I have wasted endless hours debating to what degree the various followers of the Unreality Principle are complicit in their own self-deception, and have finally resigned from the debate in disgust. The question is a paradox. When a man is trying to deceive himself, he is his own victim, deceiver and deceived at once. And successful self deception results in his not knowing himself to have successfully deceived himself: so arguing that he really does not know better is merely to say he is skilled at something akin to auto-hypnosis.

If any Leftist is being deceived about what Leftism truly is or truly says, it is deception by invitation.

Therefore, to me, it is a meaningless question to ask whether President Obama or anyone else ‘actually’ believes that Global Warming causes terrorism, or ‘actually’ thinks we should not pray for the victims of a mass shooting because Caesar is more potent than God. There is no ‘actually’ with these people: there is nothing below the surface appearance.

The surface appearance, by design, is all that there is. Intellectual honesty and introspection are what their mental system is designed to avoid.

I think we should demand open carry be legal in all legislative buildings in the states it is legal.

I mean why can we not open carry in Congress? We need to demand DC allow open carry. Lobbyists can walk around strapped to guns.

I would certainly work hard for that movement!

In fact I think it is time to do away with murder laws. If one feels threatened they should be able to shoot.

Dewey your attempt at humor fails because of your ignorance about the law and it’s purpose.

Laws do not prevent crime. Laws do not prevent terrorism. They do define what is unacceptable in our civil society. They can act as a deterrent, especially when we maintain high moral standards in our society, but are not guaranteed to do so. Criminals and terrorists don’t care about the laws of civil society which bring us to purpose.

Laws give our civil society a defined method for prosecuting after the fact or for acting in defense of our nation.
