Saudi Arabia Launches Co-Ordinated Military Exercise

Posted by Tina

CNN reports the Saudi’s have begun military exercises with twenty participating Arab and Muslim nations in North Eastern Saudi Arabia. The exercise will involve operations on land sea and air and has been dubbed, “North Thunder. The nations involved include:

Jordan, Bahrain, Senegal, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Kuwait, the Maldives, Morocco, Pakistan, Chad, Tunisia, Comoro Islands, Djibouti, Malaysia, Egypt, Mauritania and Mauritius.

North thunder is meant to send a clear message that these nations, “…stand united to confront all challenges and maintain peace and stability in the region.” it comes two months after the intention to form a 34 nation coalition to fight terrorism was declared.

It’s good to see an Arab nation take the lead in the fight to defeat the terrorists. The question is where will the efforts lead?

It seems there is quite a bit of worry about another world war. Adding to this concern is the recent statement by Russia’s Prime Minister Medvedev that Russia and the West have “slid into a new “cold war” over tensions in Syria.
