The Rule of Law, Justice, and Civic Responsibility

statue_of_libertyA follow up story in the news, brought to our attention by J Soden, is an example of the many ways the law has been compromised in our nation due to corruption, divisive politics, and political correctness. The abuses of our government are ripping our nation to shreds. Political correctness is silencing citizens and running our justice system. Lies are accepted as truth. The result: The people are losing confidence in our government and the rule of law and that means loss of liberty!

You might recall the little five year old girl in Idaho who was raped and urinated upon by three preteen Muslim Migrant boys after being dragged into a laundry room. The Fourteen year old was maliciously video taping the attack when a woman entered the laundry to stop them. Outrageously, the city has failed to act appropriately t bring justice for the little girl and her family. Pamela Geller has the story:

After the attack, instead of getting justice, the victim’s family has been abused and targeted by law enforcement and medical authorities as if they were the criminals. The mother cannot get copies of the medical records of her own child, or transcripts of 9-1-1 calls made on the day of the attack.

In examining notes taken of their conversations with the victim’s mother, I was taken aback by how contemptuous they are of her. They talk down to her, as if she were the perpetrator, not the mother of the victim of this monstrous attack.

It is outrageous. And it gets worse. The supposedly seven-year-old rapist who put his penis in the girl’s mouth, urinated on her and in her mouth, and who reportedly owned the blue pocket knife that he used to threaten her, was never even removed from his home. That family still lives next door to the victim. For the longest time, the attacker wasn’t even limited in his access to the community’s children; now he must be supervised by someone 14 years old or older. When they stipulated this, the court had to have been aware that the boy who videotaped the rape was 14. This a gross insult against this victimized family — and a direct result of a judge’s decision.

Geller records the complete timeline of this family’s nightmare at the Breitbart link above.

I wish this very disturbing story were the only example of the breakdown we’re experiencing in our legal and criminal justice system, but as we have witnessed over the course of the last few years, this horrible event is not an isolated incident. Our nation is in crisis as profound as the days of our founding.

“These are the times that try men’s souls.” – Thomas Paine

The times indeed are challenging us to the depths of our very souls. Are we to be a nation of laws or a nation of men who use their power to oppress and control the people? In the past week (months) we have seen police officers murdered in our streets due to the blatantly irresponsible actions of our nations president and his justice department. After the latest shooting President Obama continued in his schizophrenic messaging. Although he did what he could not avoid, condemning the murders, he justified and encouraged violence when he said:

“And if police organizations and departments acknowledge that there’s a problem and there’s an issue, then that, too, is going to contribute to real solutions. And, as I said yesterday, that is what’s going to ultimately help make the job of being a cop a lot safer. It is in the interest of police officers that their communities trust them and that the kind of rancor and suspicion that exists right now is alleviated.”

The President is directly responsible for the “rancor and suspician” about which he speaks. His irresponsible words and actions do not solidly stand behind the Constitution, the rule of law, or the idea that justice for all will be fiercely defended in this nation. He instead stands behind notions of racial division, declaring before the world that racism runs rampant in our policing forces and in America. As a citizen who’s witnessed fifty years of healing and repair, of inclusion and tolerance I resent these specious, degrading, offensive words.

In the past few years we have seen police officers accused of targeting blacks by our nations president and justice department even before the facts of the case were known. In all cases the President and his justice department have been wrong, yet the stain of false accusation remains to taint and falsely accuse. This morning the fourth wrongly accused officer in the Freddie Gray case was found not guilty in these rush to judgement cases. In all of the cases made nationally and internationally prominent by Obama and his justice department, the criminality and defiance of authority of the dead citizen was pushed into the background as irrelevant when in fact these were highly relevant elements in the cases. Instead the false racist narrative that white cops were targeting black kids was hyped. This is disgraceful civic behavior, not to mention outrageous behavior o the part of our nations leaders.

In the last four years we have seen the rise of militant black activists that have been acknowledged by the administration even though they have physically attacked and intimidated fellow citizens. Some of these militant activist have issued remarks calling on blacks to, “”Rise Up and Kill Those Who Kill Us!” We take note of the New Black Panther who issued “Dead or Alive” posters for George Zimmerman. We are reminded of the Presidents attempt at humor as a candidate when he said, “if they bring a knife we bring a gun.”

Democrats of all races have supported the false racist meme. Fearful Republicans, intimidated by political correctness and ignorance of realities in America have also supported the lie. These elites wonder that an outsider has been chosen to be their Republican standard bearer.

Corrosion in civic responsibilities and the undermining of our justice system is not limited to these issues of race or to black leaders.

During the current administration our nations Internal Revenue Service targeted citizens because of their political views and in several cases used other departments of government to intimidate private individual citizens. See here and here. Our government under Obama also harrassed, intimidated and falsely accused FOX journalist James Rosen. The justice system not only failed to seek justice for the victims and uphold the laws of our land, in some cases it was complicit in the lawless behavior.

Climate Denier cartoon Branco Build-Case-600-CIThis administration used the power of the federal government to target private coal companies for destruction by imposing onerous costly regulations. The president also encouraged efforts to target entities they refer to as “climate deniers”:

(CNSNews.com) – Organizing for Action Executive Director Jon Carson said last week his group, which grew out of President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, will be calling out “climate deniers.”

“We’ll be calling out the climate deniers who are standing in the way of progress in Washington,” Carson said in an e-mail Thursday, the same day a supporter of more environmental regulations told a Senate committee “the warming over the past 15 years has slowed.”

When bullying “deniers” in Congress proved to be insufficient, the courts went into action:

The Democrat attorney general of the U.S. Virgin Islands is now targeting 90 conservative and free market groups in a phony and corrupt racketeering scheme meant to silence all opposition to the climate change movement. They have subpoenaed all their records and communications on climate change, even confidential donor information.

The lawsuit is based on the twisted assumption that denial of climate change constitutes fraud and anyone perpetrating it is liable for prosecution under the law.

<b.Confidence in our nations highest court has flagged over the past eight years. There have been several instances in which the Supreme Court’s decisions appeared to be political rather than constitutional. One of the most egregious instances was the Obamacare case in which the Obama government argued both that the mandate to buy insurance was a tax and a fee.

Perhaps the mother of all cases of injustice in our nation involves the Democrat candidate for president, Hillary Clinton. The failure of our government to hold Hillary Clinton responsible for her reckless behavior as the Secretary of State is unfathomable.

Our nation is indeed experiencing times that “try men’s souls.” Our nation desperately needs a revival in moral and civic responsibility from the least in our citizenry to those who hold it’s highest offices. We the people must not relent until our nation is once again restored to a nation of justice and liberty for all. The words of Thomas Paine should bring inspiration and comfort to those who feel our nation is already lost. Paine wrote those words in the midst of the contentious times of our founding when the people were divided about defying the King to declare individual freedom and justice. We have endured hard times before and we will endure and rise above the wreckage of the Obama administration to reaffirm our commitment to the Constitution and rule of law.

The Republican convention begins today. Trumps wife Melania will speak tonight. The theme for day one is “Make America Safe Again.” Look for Melania to speak about the importance of family, morals, values and civility, and support for law enforcement.

I stand with Trump because I stand for individual responsibility. I stand with Trump because I believe in blind justice. I stand with Trump because I believe in liberty for all. I stand with America and the precious ideals of our founding: Individual liberty and justice for all.
