Hobson’s Choice Part II – A Solution?

by Jack

Donald Trump received a gift from a veteran in much the way one would receive a new tennis racket. The gift was the man’s purple heart, which is a medal awarded for either being killed or wounded in the line of duty. “I’ve always wanted one these,” said Trump as he held it up before the crowd. The tone and the way he said it, makes me unsure he actually knew what it was.

trumpThe New York Times found earlier that Trump received five draft deferments that exempted him from military service while he was in college.

Trump’s lack of military service was also underscored by his latest sparring with two Muslim Gold Star parents who lost their son in Iraq in 2004. The bereaved father, Khizr Kahn, said Trump had “sacrificed nothing and no one.” Trump replied, “I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard.”

Sometimes during a heated campaign it’s better to not to respond to every slight and just let some things go, but this is not the Donald’s way.

Now many notable elected conservatives like John McCain, Paul Ryan and Lindsay Graham, have found themselves in the uncomfortable position of being forced to say they take strong exception to some of Trumps statements; that such comments do not reflect their values or the values of the Republican Party.hillary-clinton-benghazi-600x337

President Obama said yesterday, “If you find yourself constantly having to say you strongly disagree with him, why are you supporting him?” The last person I want to define how we run an election is President Obama, but one can’t hide from the logic of his question. Obama accused Trump of being unfit to hold office, but he had nothing but gushing praise for Hillary the serial liar. So, I have to ask democrats that still have a moral compass, why are you supporting Hillary? You know she is incompetent and a liar? How low are we willing to go with that bar in order to elect [our] candidate?

Folks, I say this with all due respect and sincerity. I say this now because I can’t escape the reality of what we’re doing, its become too obvious. I wish we could declare both candidates unfit to hold office and just let their Vice Presidential picks run for the office. I think the American people would be so much better served, if we could. Otherwise, if either of these two unfit people gets into the Presidency, it’s going to be a disaster for America. Yes, I still feel the least disasterous would be Trump… but that’s one heck of a gut wrenching choice. It’s like asking, do you want to be dragged into Hell on roller skates or sand paper? This election is making me sick.

It seems to me you are faced with a choice between someone whom you have deep disagreements with, and someone who doesn’t actually have any beliefs for you to disagree with. You will probably disagree with 90% of the decisions Clinton makes as president, but you will at least know she is making those decisions based off of some sense of reality and awareness of what’s going on in the world. Trump, on the other hand, did not know that Russia had already invaded Crimea until a reporter told him the other day, didn’t know what Brexit was three weeks before the vote, and had never heard of the nuclear triad until a reporter told him. Trump can’t be trusted to make any decisions, because he doesn’t know anything about the world, and shows no curiosity or desire to learn. Clinton is an informed and experienced leader whose beliefs and values differ from yours. Wouldn’t you rather vote for someone with genuine beliefs you happen to disagree with, then someone who pretends to share your beliefs while actually holding no beliefs or knowledge whatsoever?

“…you will at least know she is making those decisions based off of some sense of reality and awareness of what’s going on in the world. ”

Total crap. Hillary Clinton will make decisions based on what is beneficial to herself, her foundation, and her aspirations to be a world leader…America comes last! This has been her record for thirty or more years.

“Clinton is an informed and experienced leader…”

Who destroys everything it her path. LOOK at the Middle East. Look at the way she and Obama stood up to Putin? Look at the way he made them look like fools when he started bombing in Syria because we didn’t have a plan. Lok at the way she ran the State Department in secrecy and then lied and broke the law to cover it up. Your description defies logic, reason, common sense and the facts.

Your description of Trump flows not from the reality of the whole person and his experience, but from a narrow, nasty partisan well scripted cartoon being carefully constructed with the help of the partisan left media.

“…while actually holding no beliefs or knowledge whatsoever?”

If you were speaking honestly about Trumps qualifications, making a real comparison, I’d have more respect for your opinion. As it is you are just Chris, being Chris.

    • Pie Guevara says:

It seems to me you enjoy making false dichotomies, Chris.

    Agreed Jack.

The thing that makes it more sickening is that it reflects conditions in our society.

Democrats promised Hillary her place in history. Obama took her slot so now they really owe her. that’s the main reason she is their candidate despite the fact that she has been described as a criminal by our own FBI and yet not indicted and despite the fact that her efforts in the ME have made a horrendous mess and spawned scandal. There are very few people in the Democrat Party who will rise to fill this roll in the immediate future…the radical dem leadership is growing old.

Republicans ran 17 qualified candidates. Donald Trump beat all of his competitors for two reasons. Despite his gaffs (they used to call them gaffs, more polite I guess) and bombastic, insensitive style he pulled the curtain away and exposed the left wing media and he was an outsider…the same reason Bernie won over so many Democrats.

The people are tired of political elites in both parties. the people are fed up with lies and policies that work against them. people are fed up with a terror and border problems that are never resolved and getting worse. people are fed up with the lousy economy and lack of buying power.

The racial divisions are incredibly disheartening for anyone who live through the sixties and seventies. That it was fostered and fed really makes me sick.

Trump has a difficult job. We’ve complained that Bush, McCain, and Romney “never fought back” when faced with personal attacks. Trump has to fight back and please people who expect him to act like a gentleman when dealing with devious contrived attacks!

Is it any wonder this election is sickening?

    • Jake says:

“She has been described as a criminal by our own FBI”

The FBI did not describe Hillary Clinton as a criminal.

Why did you say that they did?

      “Republicans ran 17 qualified candidates.”

Please tell me you are not including Ben Carson here.

      • Pie Guevara says:

Re : The FBI did not describe Hillary Clinton as a criminal. Why did you say that they did?

Clearly, Comey did demonstrate that Hillary lied to the American people about her email server. Clearly Comey demonstrated that Hillary was grossly negligent (not his words, of course) in her handling of not only potentially sensitive documents but actual classified documents, a criminal violation of her oath of office and for anyone else holding office at ANY level in the State Department.

Clearly people have been prosecuted, indicted, and jailed for less and equivalent violations of national security law as Hillary.

Cleary Comey dropped the ball and caved to political pressure when he said, there is “no basis to conclude she lied to the FBI” about her email practices.” He could have pursued that.

Clearly Comey could have pursued Hillary’s gross negligence security violations, but chose not to.

Clearly Hillary has criminally violated national security laws, but the FBI and the Justice department have both refused to pursue an indictment.

Clearly Chris does not see Hillary as a national security threat nor Hillary as an unindicted criminal.

Clearly Chris turns a blind eye.

Clearly Chris is intentionally myopic and obtuse while banging the drum for HilLIARy.

      • Pie Guevara says:

        Lastly…

Clearly there is a new defense for criminal negligence violations of national security. If you did not “intend” to violate national security, you get off.

It is called The Hillary Defense.

This is a fundamental transformation of the laws governing national security.

        GOOD JOB OBAMA ADMINISTRATION!

I am 100% confident that The Hillary Defense will be deployed to criminal negligence violations of national security in the future. This is not a good thing, it is an extremely bad thing. It is but another demonstration just how deeply the federal government has been corrupted by Obama and his Democrat cronies and toads, and is given a pass by equally corrupt sycophantic water carriers like Chris (er, Jake).

  3. Tina says:

Pie we’ll see how long the Hillary Defense is deployed. What do you want to be it only works for Hillary?

  4. Libby says:

So why are you worried? Pence was approached for the VP slot with the proposition that he would run the show … Trump taking the role of bloviator-in-chief.

Me … I wanna see it happen. I am fairly panting to see it happen.

It is the only thing that will shut you stupid, selfish morons up … finally, and forever.
