Trump Talks to Vets – Disingenuous Dopey Dems Disparage as “Insensitive” and “Ignorant”

Posted by Tina

Donald Trump spoke eloquently to a gathering of veterans yesterday about PTSD, traumatic brain injury and other health problems that our veterans face when asked if he would “advocate for religious programs as an optional part of helping military members.” His remarks were criticized as “insensitive and ignorant” by the President, Hillary, Joe Biden and several people in the Hillary news outlets.

Trump quietly and reverently answered the question:

“When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat and they see things that maybe a lot of the folks in this room have seen many times over and you’re strong and you can handle it,” he said. “But a lot of people can’t handle it.”

When you consider the rising rate of suicide, and the lousy care at the VA, his remarks ring true. He spoke a simple and horrifying truth about the serious problem confronting many veterans that is not adequately being met by our government.

The veteran that posed the question, Staff Sgt. Robichaux, didn’t take Mr. Trump’s remarks as insulting:

“I interpreted his answer to affirm that the system is broken and he would take the necessary steps to address it,” Mr. Robichaux said.

“After eight combat tours in Afghanistan I came home and was diagnosed with PTSD, and I struggled with it,” he said. “Since my own recovery I’ve been privileged to help 1,100 veterans who have graduated from our program; none of whom have committed suicide since graduating. It’s a very important issue to me, which is why I was thankful for the opportunity to ask Mr. Trump about it directly.”

Vets helping vets…a situation that exists in part because the VA has dropped the ball. Criticism of Trump seems to be driven by the need to distract from the terrible record of the current Democrat leadership. Politics before service to our veterans. Nice going Democrats.

” … is remarks ring true.”

His remarks make no sense. Unless you copied it wrong, he must have meant to say “folks in this room have NEVER seen.” He then goes on to infer that those who cannot cope are weak. And, he does not, in fact say anything about anything he proposes to do for these weak people.

Are you going to let this man talk drivel to you forever? When is it going to dawn on you that this Emperor is buck naked.

    • More Common Sense says:

      Libby, you are pathetic!

Did you read the post? He was in a room full of veterans. He meant what he said (and the quote is correct)! Many of the people in that room HAVE seen the horrors of war. Those people came back without PTSD. The discussion is about those that did come back with PTSD. Both groups saw the same things but some were able to deal with it while some were not. Wouldn’t you attribute that to the individuals emotional and mental strength? What he said was never intended to disparage the veterans that suffer from PTSD. It was a “there but for the grace of god” type comment. Some veterans were strong enough to deal with what they experienced while others weren’t. That is not an insensitive insult. It is a fact no matter how you and the libs try to spin it.

        Well said MCS!

Some vets also saw things that were more difficult (mentally and emotionally) to handle than others.

      • Free Speech Defender says:

The problem is that whether or not a person develops PTSD doesn’t really have anything to do with “strength,” and mental illness is not a sign of weakness.

I do think this statement was overblown. I’ve seen some veterans pissed off by it. But it was ignorance, not malice, which led Trump to say this. It’s not as bad as many of Trump’s previous statements about soldiers, such as “I like people who weren’t captured,” or “They won’t refuse me” when I tell them to kill the wives and children of terrorists.

    • Tina says:

Gee Libby…you talk drivel all the time and you’re still posting here. I guess maybe we’re a little more tolerant than you progressive folks!

Seriously though, I’ve noticed you guys thrive on cute little sayings that don’t necessarily express the truth but still have power to persuade. Hope and change was a beaut! Given that, it’s not surprising that you lot also have no interest in what is actually communicated.

The vets in the room got what Trump was saying, they got his empathy, his sincerity, and his genuine concern, and they got his positive message that he would work to ameliorate the very serious problems returning vets face. (Including allowing them to see a doctor of their choice if the VA is responding with unreasonable wait times).

Ann Coulter on Trump: ‘Finally, we have a candidate who cares about Americans

This could easily be alternately titled “Ann Coulter demonstrates why Democrats, the left and left-wing media are a bunch of tedious pissants.”

    • Free Speech Defender says:

What Coulter means by that–and she makes this very, very clear in that interview–is “Finally, we have a candidate who hates immigrants as much as I do.” She specifically says she wants a total freeze on immigration in that interview. She’s become a one-issue voter, and her issue is “Who will save us from Mexican rapists?”

One of Obumble’s promises back in ’07 was to fix the VA, and his “fix” is just another of his failures.
Requiring members of Clowngress and their staffs, as well as the residents and workers at the white house to use the VA for their health needs would see a fix for our Veterans pretty darn quick.
Our Vets deserve WAY more than they’ve been given!

Sorry kids, submitting yet another off topic comment in Post Scripts, but I just had to share …

      #*%$#** brilliant, that! Thanks Pie.

I apologize for what has actually been the necessity of so many off topic comments. My time has been limited, and will be from now through the rest of the year, due to other obligations.

It would be possible to post any article you might wish to write about these off topic items of interest…it wouldn’t have to be brilliant or long. And what’s happened to your Friday Follies?
