It’s Clear Illegals Voted – What Can Be Done?

Paul Mirengoff at Powerline quotes Hans von Spakovsky and John Fund at WSJ on the issue of illegal immigration votes:

[A] 2012 study from the Pew Center on the States estimat[ed] that one out of every eight voter registrations is inaccurate, out-of-date or duplicate. About 2.8 million people are registered in more than one state, according to the study, and 1.8 million registered voters are dead. In most places it’s easy to vote under the names of such people with little risk of detection. . . .

In 2015 one Kansas county began offering voter registration at naturalization ceremonies. Election officials soon discovered about a dozen new Americans who were already registered—and who had voted as noncitizens in multiple elections. . . .

One district-court administrator estimated in 2005 that up to 3% of the 30,000 people called for jury duty from voter-registration rolls over a two-year period were not U.S. citizens. A September report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation found more than 1,000 noncitizens who had been removed from the voter rolls in eight Virginia counties. Many of them had cast ballots in previous elections, but none was referred for possible prosecution.

A 2014 study by three professors at Old Dominion University and George Mason University used extensive survey data to estimate that 6.4% of the nation’s noncitizens voted in 2008 and that 2.2% voted in 2010. . . .

A postelection survey conducted by Americas Majority Foundation found that 2.1% of noncitizens voted in the Nov. 8 election. In the battleground states of Michigan and Ohio, 2.5% and 2.1%, respectively, of noncitizens reported voting. In 2013, pollster McLaughlin & Associates conducted an extensive survey of Hispanics on immigration issues. Its voter-profile tabulation shows that 13% of noncitizens said they were registered to vote. That matches closely the Old Dominion/George Mason study, in which 15.6% of noncitizens said they were registered.

Others have looked at the issue.

Investor’s Editorial:

…in fact, it’s almost certain that illegals did vote — and in significant numbers. Whether it was three million or not is another question.

While states control the voter registration process, some states are so notoriously slipshod in their controls (California, Virginia and New York — all of which have political movements to legalize voting by noncitizens — come to mind) that it would be shocking if many illegals didn’t vote. Remember, a low-ball estimate says there are at least 11 million to 12 million illegals in the U.S., but that’s based on faulty Census data. More likely estimates put the number at 20 million to 30 million.

What’s disappointing is that instead of at least seriously considering Trump’s charge, many media reports merely parrot leftist talking points and anti-Trump rhetoric by pushing the idea that Republicans and others not of the progressive left who seek to limit voting to citizens only are racist, xenophobic nuts.

But there is evidence to back Trump’s claims. A 2014 study in the online Electoral Studies Journal shows that in the 2008 and 2010 elections, illegal immigrant votes were in fact quite high.

“We find that some noncitizens participate in U.S. elections, and that this participation has been large enough to change meaningful election outcomes including Electoral College votes, and congressional elections,” wrote Jesse T. Richman, Gulshan A. Chattha, both of Old Dominion University, and David C. Earnest of George Mason University.

More specifically, they write, “Noncitizen votes likely gave Senate Democrats the pivotal 60th vote needed to overcome filibusters in order to pass health care reform and other Obama administration priorities in the 111th Congress.”

Specifically, the authors say that illegals may have cast as many as 2.8 million votes in 2008 and 2010. That’s a lot of votes. And when you consider the population of illegal inhabitants has only grown since then, it’s not unreasonable to suppose that their vote has, too.

See more from Breitbart’s Neil W. McCabe.

Back to Von Spakovsky and Fund for how to fix the problem:

The Trump administration should direct the Department of Homeland Security to cooperate with states that want to verify the citizenship of registered voters. Since this will only flag illegal immigrants who have been detained at some point and legal noncitizens, states should pass laws, similar to the one in Kansas, that require proof of citizenship when registering to vote. The Justice Department, instead of ignoring the issue, should again start prosecuting these cases.

I’m all for prosecuting these federal crimes. Getting California, New York or Virginia to cooperate would be a challenge and I submit it is in these states, with their sanctuary city mentality, that the problem is likely over the top.

Dream on, Tina … or continue to contribute to the Trumpsters’ epic imperviousness to fact.

Or even … here’s an idea for a new business … the “Hitlerian Big Lie” media franchise. Trump can no longer pursue the project, but … from the in-coming administration you could positively get subsidized.

The authors say…. Some people say….. Accusing is one thing proof is another. This is propaganda. If there is proof one needs to address it. If they had the proof you are saying they would not bring it to light? Cause why? LOL

If I accuse Tina of voting 100 times and put it in print does it make it true?

So what do you do? Find proof and file a case.

What about the massive fraud of interstate cross check? Throwing people off the rolls cause their names were the same as other people in other states? In some cases the middle initials were not even the same. Ya know there is only 1 Andy Garcia or Jack Lee in the United States Right? How many States did Jack Lee vote in?

Vote fraud is extraordinarily rare. A comprehensive study found 31 fraudulent votes in one billion cast.

I am for the reevaluation of any and every part of suspected Election fraud, Voter Fraud ect ect But there is an insane amount of Election Fraud and very litter Voter Fraud. Tell the truth!

Hillary lost millions of voters by the DNC Election Fraud.
Both Parties cheat the people for power.

I do believe I read some posts against the recounts filed by Jill Stein. Using the law to look for the results of CrossCheck and/or what really went on?

That is a Good thing so why are MI republicans blocking it? What are they afraid of?

No one trying to change the election. Just stop the cheating.

Just like Hillbots trying to blame the rest of us for loosing. There was no way millions were going to vote for her after seeing the cheating LIVE! On livestreams. That is why they are fighting against net neutrality. That pesky phone streaming real events and truth is not good for the fascists who run this country.

Bottom Line Donald Trump will be the President, He has refilled the swamp and will continue to lie to his voters as he rakes in the big bucks and undermines the last thread of Democracy.

Also Trump did not save any jobs at carrier he is exploiting the truth. Those were corporate jobs that were not leaving anyway and the jobs scheduled to go to Mexico are still going. Media lies to you both conservative and so called Liberal.

So all these recounts and actual proof of any fraud is good.

  3. Peggy says:

Two ways to confront noncitizens voting in national elections.

First, as mentioned from a legal full frontal attack to make sure only US citizens are allowed to vote for national candidates. My understanding is there is just one voter registration form, not two. One for both state and federal elections, instead of one for state and local elections, for those states that have passed laws to allow illegals and noncitizens to vote, and another for US citizens who can vote in local, state and national elections.

A national task force needs to be formed and funded with the authority to force states to clean up their voter rolls, following current election laws.

Second, there’s a saying, “Nothing changes until it becomes important to them” Meaning, the democrats will never agree to clean up noncitizens illegally voting as long as they are the ones benefiting. What would happen if they stopped benefiting and the republicans did instead?

Republicans need to follow the Trump and Rand Paul campaign strategy to go after the Hispanic and urban/inner city vote. Both groups are known to have strong faith based and hard working ethics foundations, which align more with the republican platform than the democrats.

Democrats will be shouting from roof tops to stop noncitizens voting when republicans are the ones benefiting instead of them.

  4. No Longer Deplorable J Soden says:

There is no conceivable reason NOT to require proof of citizenship AND voter Photo ID in order to cast your ballot. Those that cry that this restricts voting are full of beans. The post office, doctors, health departments, banks, airline travelers, Clowngressional buildings, hospitals, DMV, insurance companies, even welfare departments all require ID yet the most important voice of the people – voting – is somehow NOT ID required?

Sorta off topic, but having to do with election shenanigans . . . .

Off Topic — Email shows why General James ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis will make an outstanding Secretary of Defense.

In the run up to Marine Gen. James Mattis’ deployment to Iraq in 2004, a colleague wrote to him asking about the “importance of reading and military history for officers,” many of whom found themselves “too busy to read.”

His response went viral over email.

    [Dear, “Bill”]

The problem with being too busy to read is that you learn by experience (or by your men’s experience), i.e. the hard way. By reading, you learn through others’ experiences, generally a better way to do business, especially in our line of work where the consequences of incompetence are so final for young men.

Thanks to my reading, I have never been caught flat-footed by any situation, never at a loss for how any problem has been addressed (successfully or unsuccessfully) before. It doesn’t give me all the answers, but it lights what is often a dark path ahead.

With [Task Force] 58, I had w/ me Slim’s book, books about the Russian and British experiences in [Afghanistan], and a couple others. Going into Iraq, “The Siege” (about the Brits’ defeat at Al Kut in WW I) was req’d reading for field grade officers. I also had Slim’s book; reviewed T.E. Lawrence’s “Seven Pillars of Wisdom”; a good book about the life of Gertrude Bell (the Brit archaeologist who virtually founded the modern Iraq state in the aftermath of WW I and the fall of the Ottoman empire); and “From Beirut to Jerusalem”. I also went deeply into Liddell Hart’s book on Sherman, and Fuller’s book on Alexander the Great got a lot of my attention (although I never imagined that my HQ would end up only 500 meters from where he lay in state in Babylon).

Ultimately, a real understanding of history means that we face NOTHING new under the sun.

For all the “4th Generation of War” intellectuals running around today saying that the nature of war has fundamentally changed, the tactics are wholly new, etc, I must respectfully say … “Not really”: Alex the Great would not be in the least bit perplexed by the enemy that we face right now in Iraq, and our leaders going into this fight do their troops a disservice by not studying (studying, vice just reading) the men who have gone before us.

We have been fighting on this planet for 5000 years and we should take advantage of their experience. “Winging it” and filling body bags as we sort out what works reminds us of the moral dictates and the cost of incompetence in our profession. As commanders and staff officers, we are coaches and sentries for our units: how can we coach anything if we don’t know a hell of a lot more than just the [Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures]? What happens when you’re on a dynamic battlefield and things are changing faster than higher [Headquarters] can stay abreast? Do you not adapt because you cannot conceptualize faster than the enemy’s adaptation? (Darwin has a pretty good theory about the outcome for those who cannot adapt to changing circumstance — in the information age things can change rather abruptly and at warp speed, especially the moral high ground which our regimented thinkers cede far too quickly in our recent fights.) And how can you be a sentinel and not have your unit caught flat-footed if you don’t know what the warning signs are — that your unit’s preps are not sufficient for the specifics of a tasking that you have not anticipated?

Perhaps if you are in support functions waiting on the warfighters to spell out the specifics of what you are to do, you can avoid the consequences of not reading. Those who must adapt to overcoming an independent enemy’s will are not allowed that luxury.

This is not new to the USMC approach to warfighting — Going into Kuwait 12 years ago, I read (and reread) Rommel’s Papers (remember “Kampstaffel”?), Montgomery’s book (“Eyes Officers”…), “Grant Takes Command” (need for commanders to get along, “commanders’ relationships” being more important than “command relationships”), and some others.

As a result, the enemy has paid when I had the opportunity to go against them, and I believe that many of my young guys lived because I didn’t waste their lives because I didn’t have the vision in my mind of how to destroy the enemy at least cost to our guys and to the innocents on the battlefields.

Hope this answers your question…. I will cc my ADC in the event he can add to this. He is the only officer I know who has read more than I.

    Semper Fi, Mattis

Oh Dewey, it appears your the Grinch that is stealing everything from others and only because of your own twisted view of the world, as displayed in your post’s.

First of all, Americans that have patriotic concern for this country do not need ‘Good Luck’ wishes, it’s the sore losers with the child like actions of cry babies like your self and others of your ILK, clearly you guys are “full of it”, your the ones that needed that needed this solid “time out and changing”. So, my Butt headed thinker, if your going to act like children, go ahead but remember it’s those VET’s in need of everyone’s respect and help that help preserve your right to act like A$$ wipe.

You don’t have to be gracious, least of all condescending about the direction America is wanting. This election was a decree for change made possible through acheck and BALANCE system envisioned by our founders to represent the thoughts and feelings of ALL Americans , not just those of the concentrated thinking of an elitist gathering.

Given the outcome of this election, you have to accept that most all of this country’s hard working class felt Hillary was a poor choice, no strike that ,”The absolute WRONG choice”, and those that helped Obama must have felt the same, cause they didn’t’ respond to her phony rhetoric at the ballot box in the same manner.

We on the right, felt Obamas terms in the office of President were wrong, especially the second one, but we didn’t act like a bunch of pre adolescent cry babies in the street.

Given the divided nature of America today (thanks to Obama) we did as you said “Pick yourselves up by your bootstraps” and we clearly sent a message to DC that we are tired of being governed by special interest and crooked politicians who only seem to do things that benefit their power base. So it time to put your big boy pants on pal and try to help unite this country once again.

Give it a chance to work, because your Liberal BS sure as he!! does not, at least by the people you select to run it, maybe that’s where you need to focus your attention.
