Palpable Fear: Dilbert Creator Withdraws Support of UC Berkley

J. Soden brought this to our attention

It’s disgusting that in the United States of America people fear for their safety due to political disagreement. But thanks to radical agitators without a clue it’s now happening. The creator of the cartoon “Dilbert,” Scott Adams, has chosen to withdraw his presence and support of UC Berkley, his alma mater, due to the violence on campus:

Speaking of Hitler, I’m ending my support of UC Berkeley, where I got my MBA years ago. I have been a big supporter lately, with both my time and money, but that ends today. I wish them well, but I wouldn’t feel safe or welcome on the campus. A Berkeley professor made that clear to me recently. He seems smart, so I’ll take his word for it.

I’ve decided to side with the Jewish gay immigrant who has an African-American boyfriend, not the hypnotized zombie-boys in black masks who were clubbing people who hold different points of view. I feel that’s reasonable, but I know many will disagree, and possibly try to club me to death if I walk on campus.

The story continues via Breitbart:

Adams writes that a Berkeley professor “made it clear” to him that he wouldn’t be welcome on campus due to his political beliefs.

In July 2016, Adams regularly placed a disclaimer at the bottom of his blog posts which claimed that his endorsement of Hillary Clinton was made out of concern for his personal safety.

Note: I endorsed Hillary Clinton – for my personal safety – because I live in California. It isn’t safe to be viewed as a Trump supporter where I live. My politics don’t align with either candidate, but backing Clinton reduces my odds of dying at the hands of my fellow citizens. (And yes, I am 100% serious. It just happens to be funny by coincidence.)

Adams frequently praised President Trump during his run for the White House and was one of the few public figures who predicted his victory.

This is the legacy of the last administration and it’s ties to the radical elements of the sixties. It doesn’t resemble the America I know and love. It’s time to reclaim our streets by prosecuting to the fullest extent those who engage in criminal activity as a means of “political expression.”

Scott’s gone off the rails once or twice before. The polite thing to do is let it pass.

  2. Tina says:

Politely let it pass, is it?

That’s what you’ve done for eight long years of ineptitude leading to chaos and killing.

Yours is a world of invented convenience. No responsibility. How easy for you.

    • Libby says:

No, I meant let Scott’s hissy pass politely. He must know that very few actual students were involved in actual violence. He’ll come back around.

The UC system is an impressive accomplishment. It will throw its fiscal weight around, making extravagant demands, but worth maintaining, nonetheless.

      • Bryan H. says:

Adams would have more of a point if UC Berkeley hadn’t condemned the violence and defended Milo’s right to speak. Can he point to any action of the university that caused this? Can he point to any action they could have taken to stop it? According to the university the rioters were not students, but an outside group of “antifascists.” All reports seem to indicate this was the case. Why stop donating to the school because of the actions of outsiders who invaded the school?

        • J. Soden says:

“Defending the right to speak” also includes protecting those who would listen to speakers and arresting those who burn, throw rocks, and destroy property – which neither the campus cops nor Berkeley PD did. They just stood by and watched.
No wonder Adams doesn’t feel safe on Berkeley’s campus!

          • Bryan H. says:

“Berkeley police Sgt. Sabrina Reich said officers feared increased violence and more serious injuries if the violence escalated accompanied by a heavier-handed police response.”

But please, keep pretending you know how to handle a riot better than the police do.

          • Post Scripts says:

“But please, keep pretending you know how to handle a riot better than the police do.” Actually, I probably do know better. As a career police officer, I have done research on crowd control and written several police articles on it too. I’ve received specialized crowd control training and military training in crowd control. I’ve had an opportunity to exchange my findings with such notable places as the New Orleans Police, LAPD and others and I’ve read their departs policies on crowd control.

I’ve been there and done that for decades and now I am an advisor. I call into question her judgement or whoever issued those orders to not make arrests. They were too way too timid and this emboldened the demonstrators.

In my professional opinion, there was no reason for the police to behave that way, other than fear of a confrontation, but that’s what police do! Everything police do carries a risk. There’s no excuse for not making arrests, what we saw was just spineless management. They were clearly wrong. They grossly overestimated their opposition and the next riot could be a lot worse.

Wonder how many more alumni are doing the same, but not speaking up?

Heard Trump will also be cutting some of the grant funds, which will really cut into the universities studying fish running on treadmills.

Doesn’t this confidential David Brock plan to take down Trump sound familiar? Nancy Pelosi on one of the Sunday morning talk shows said there were already 60 filings against Trump. I assumed she was talking about filing court lawsuits. Copy of the plan is included in the article.

Read the Confidential David Brock Memo Outlining Plans to Attack Trump:
“Memo was handed out to big money liberal donors at posh Florida retreat

David Brock, the seasoned liberal operative and Clinton loyalist who founded Media Matters, huddled with more than 100 donors last weekend at the swanky Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Fla. to map out how Democrats will “kick Donald Trump’s ass.”

The Washington Free Beacon attended the retreat and obtained David Brock’s private and confidential memorandum from the meeting. The memo, “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action,” outlines Brock’s four-year agenda to attack Trump and Republicans using Media Matters, American Bridge, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), and Shareblue.

The memo contains plans for defeating Trump through impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

Meanwhile Pelosi: “We’ve seen nothing where we can where — where I can work with President Bush on…” and Maxine Waters: “And knowing that he’s responsible for supplying the bombs that killed innocent children and families in, um, in, um,” she said, forgetting the name before someone behind her whispered, “Aleppo.”…“Yeah, in Aleppo”

    • Tina says:

Notice not a word about how to create an atmosphere for job creation or economic vibrancy or defeating ISIS or improvements in education!

Democrats care only about their own POWER!

      • Bryan H. says:

“Notice not a word about how to create an atmosphere for job creation or economic vibrancy or defeating ISIS or improvements in education!”

Luckily we have a president who will tackle the tough issues, like how Nordstroms and SNL are so mean to him.

  4. Joe says:

Meanwhile Obombinable is living like a king…

“Barack Obama is living the proper sun-drenched life of somebody freed from the shackles of a stressful career. How exactly? By hanging out in the Caribbean with swashbuckling billionaire Richard Branson, of course.”

And of course you are paying for it. You can read about it here…

    • Libby says:

Oh, take a pill. They all get to have their protectors, Bush I and Bush II and Clinton and the O-man. Of course, the O-man, being still relatively young, will take some keeping up with … but them’s the breaks.

You’re just jealous cause you’re not a best-selling author. I thought you conservatives were supposed to admire the self-made millionaire? Not when it’s “of color” apparently.

      • Joe says:

O’bungle is hardly self-made. He’s been a government employee all his life and became a multi-millionaire by selling political favors.

        • Libby says:

You are untruthful. He made his big money from book sales.

And you are envious of someone of greater intellect and ability than yourself … which is (also) not particularly Christian of you … if, you in fact profess to be such a thing.

          • Joe says:

Well when you got your cronies making sure you get insane royalties and even the taxpayer’s footing the bill (US State Dept for instance bought $70,000 of Obongo’s books), of course you’re going to be rich.

And if Obongo is so smart how come he won’t release his college transcripts or test scores?

          • Bryan H. says:

Why do you refer to him as “Obongo?” Is that a racial reference?

          • Libby says:

            You have to ask?

          • Bryan H. says:

“And if Obongo is so smart how come he won’t release his college transcripts or test scores?”

If Trump is such a good businessman, why won’t he release his tax returns?

I think those are more relevant to the presidency than test scores, but I agree Obama should have released them. (But really, does anyone think Obama isn’t a good test-taker? By all accounts he was a good student, and he is nothing if not an academic, sometimes to a fault. I can’t imagine the results would be embarrassing for him.)

  5. Tina says:

If Branson’s a person “of color” he’s pretty darned pastel.

Obummer’s only half “of color”…you don’t even get how ridiculous you sound!
