US Fired 59 Tomahawk Missiles – Syrian Airfield the Target

Posted by Tina

President Trump ordered a missile strike in Syria in response to the brutal chemical weapons attack that killed up to 100 people:

Two U.S. warships in the Mediterranean Sea fired 59 Tomahawk missiles intended for a single target — Ash Sha’irat in Homs province in western Syria, the officials said. That’s the airfield from which the United States believes the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fired the banned weapons.

There was no immediate word on casualties. U.S. officials told NBC News that people were not targeted and that aircraft and infrastructure at the site were hit, including the runway and gas fuel pumps.

“Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children,” President Donald Trump said in remarks from Mar-a-Lago, his family compound in Palm Beach, Florida.

“It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons,” said Trump, who called on other countries to end the bloodshed in Syria.

There will be no red line threats from the Trump administration. The world now knows it for a certainty.

Plug “Ash Sha’irat ” into Google Earth. The air base is just to the west. 59 Tomahawk missiles? The place must be nothing but rubble and holed runways.

From else where on the web—

I think there are still some pieces missing to this puzzle. I do think that President Trump saw an opportunity to project U.S. power and keep the bad guys off balance guessing what he will do next. Time will tell if he was right.

  2. Post Scripts says:

This would never have been necessary if Obama had not mess of things in Syria and Iraq. Dopey Obama left a world far more dangerous than when he took office because he had no clue how to be the Commander in Chief… he was pure lib thru and thru.

  3. Dewster says:

You guys miss Obama too much

So where is the intel? Also you realize we have been lied to about Syria. Also we arm both sides right?

Where did the gas come from?

Remember they said they shipped it all out.

Time for the truth……. and it will come out

  4. Dewster says:

ALso they did not take out the Airstrip. Syria used it today.

what was it 50 million spent? Wasted Spending.

but we are too broke to take care of our own country? Those missiles cost taxpayers 1.4 million each!

Warning Russia to protect Russian soldiers and the actual damage to the base prove this was an expensive Game.

Funny how Crooked Hillary came out of the woods to beat her war drums saying we must take out their airfields before the strikes.

There were at least 3 chlorine attacks after the Sarin gas was removed from Syria…. no media then?

Guess who has stock in Raytheon? Trump

Tomahawk maker’s stock up after U.S. launch on Syria

We still do not have solid intel on who launched the gas attack.

Did Trump make a deal? Tillerson is going to Russia Tuesday.

THose Sanctions you said never work? Worked so well Putin wants them removed cause they crippled the Russian Economy and halted Tillerson’s Exxon Russian deal.

Sorry folks things are worse not better.

    Smokescreens and Mirror’s.

In any case what happens in the next few weeks will give us the answers.

Big Fail Trump! People are on to you.

How many civilians have died before this and now we care?

    • Tina says:

      Daily Mail:

US missiles appear to have shattered hangars, destroyed at least nine Syrian jets, weapons and a fuel store
Images from al-Shayrat military airfield near Homs also shows a cratered runway and part of a Tomahawk
Many Syrians react with joy at Donald Trump’s decision to attack Assad target after chemical weapons row
Russians warned ahead of the strike using a special military-to-military hotline and convoy seen leaving

As Trumps advisors said the Russians were warned using the channels already open between our military forces per previous agreement.

Big fail, people who are “on to” Trump. So stooopid.

      • Dewster says:

No Tina smart and responsible. All we do not know is was Trump Played?

That was an illegal attack, Egypt asked the US and Russia to work it out. Another country held up a picture of Powell to remind them of the false WMD story to start war in Iraq.

We are an Imperialist country that starts wars for oil and has a privatized Military that needs their stocks to go up.

How many Politicians made money the last couple days on these stocks? trump did too.

That is what we are. Greedy Imperialists.

        • Tina says:

Unless you have actual evidence to suggest Trump was “played” it is foolish to say so.

Just as you do not have a clue as to the meaning of fascism you also do not have a clue as to imperialism: “an action that involves a country extending its power by the acquisition of territories”

America does not concur nations to posses or own them as England, Spain, and France did, for instance, back in the days when “Kingdoms” were still the pathway to strength in the world.

The idea that we are a “greedy” nation is patently absurd! Not only have we freed nations from tyrants, we have aided nations as they rebuild following wars, and we have generously given cash, food, medicines, and charity as citizens and through independent charities all across the world. We have built roads and water supplies and brought medical treatments…what is wrong with YOU! No nation is without fault. It seems to me you go out of your way to bash ours. If you hate this country so much you should leave it, fool!

“How many Politicians made money the last couple days on these stocks?”

Not as many as there are average Americans who also made money on the stocks. Get real. Do you have a pension, Dewey. If so I’ll bet you too made a nice little profit. So what! It is not illegal or immoral to invest and make profits from companies like Ratheon. If the day comes when missiles from Iran or N. Korea are headed for our shores you’ll be damned glad we have the ability to defend ourselves.

Also see comments on another thread for responses from the nations of Israel, Egypt and Jordan…all praising the action. Don’t project your own insane imaginings into the situation.

  5. Tina says:

Trump haters are up to their eyeballs in hope that this was huge mistake…or a “smokescreen involving big corporate “power” and “profits.”

Let them continue to flap their incoherent gums.

    Sundance:

…the key principle behind the direct regional talks previously outlined (non-discussed in MSM) has been a clear understanding -between President Trump and the regional coalition they have formed- that ALL EXTREMISM must be confronted in order to achieve the desired regional result.

That said, last night, in the immediate aftermath of the strikes, Secretary of State T-Rex and National Security Advisor McMasters, outlined the reasoning, objectives and substantive considerations behind the U.S. decision.

The media is not adequately reporting on this briefing.

[…] that as Assad has continued to use chemical weapons in these attacks with no response — no response from the international community — that he, in effect, is normalizing the use of chemical weapons, which then may be adopted by others. ~T-Rex

♦ SECRETARY TILLERSON: Good evening, all. I think what we want to try to do is give you a little bit of background on how we got to the statements by the President and the actions that were taken tonight.

As you’re well aware, Bashar al-Assad has carried out chemical attacks this past week on civilians, including women and children, and carried out attacks earlier — last month, March 25th and 30th in Homs Province, as well. We have a very high level of confidence that the attacks were carried out by aircraft under the direction of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. And we also have very high confidence that the attacks involved the use of sarin nerve gas. At least the past three attacks were fairly high — we have high confidence on that.

I think it’s also clear that previous agreements that had been entered into pursuant to U.N. Security Council Resolution 2118, as well as Annex A agreements that the Syrian government themselves accepted back in 2013, whereby they would surrender their chemical weapons under the supervision of the Russian government.

Now, the U.S. and the Russian government entered into agreements whereby Russia would locate these weapons, they would secure the weapons, they would destroy the weapons, and that they would act as the guarantor that these weapons would no longer be present in Syria.

Clearly, Russia has failed in its responsibility to deliver on that commitment from 2013. So either Russia has been complicit, or Russia has been simply incompetent in its ability to deliver on its end of that agreement.

I think the other thing that’s important to recognize — that as Assad has continued to use chemical weapons in these attacks with no response — no response from the international community — that he, in effect, is normalizing the use of chemical weapons, which then may be adopted by others. So it’s important that some action be taken on behalf of the international community to make clear that these chemical weapons continue to be a violation of international norms.

I think it’s also important to recognize, as I think everyone does, the chaotic circumstances that exist on the ground in Syria, with the presence of a battle underway to defeat ISIS, the presence of al Qaeda elements inside of Syria, and a civil war that is underway.

So, clearly, one of the existential threats we see on the ground in Syria is if there are weapons of this nature available in Syria, the ability to secure those weapons and not have them fall into the hands of those who would bring those weapons to our shores to harm American citizens.

So there are a number of elements that, in our view, called for this action and which we feel was appropriate. We feel the strike itself was proportional because it was targeted at the facility that delivered this most recent chemical weapons attack. And in carrying this out, we coordinated very carefully with our international partners in terms of communicating with them around the world. And I will tell you that the response from our allies in Europe, as well as the region in the Middle East, has been overwhelmingly supportive of the action we’ve taken. (emphasis mine)

Follow the link to read remarks made by NSA Director McMaster.

The entire world is weary and waiting for a leader that will move in the right direction to eliminate these threats to the civilized world. It appears we now have such a leader.

And by the way…Nikki Haley is standing tall at the UN:

US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said on Friday the Trump administration was ready to take further steps if needed.

“We are prepared to do more, but we hope that will not be necessary,” she told the UN Security Council. “The United States will not stand by when chemical weapons are used. It is in our vital national security interest to prevent the spread and use of chemical weapons.”

US allies from Asia, Europe and the Middle East expressed support, if sometimes cautiously.

It’s about time we showed some spine.

  6. Dewster says:

Tina it is childish to think Trump haters hope anything is wrong when it comes to war. History has shown us the lies. Caution is better than WW3.

In the 1970’s it is documented the CIA considered using an unmanned plane to be shot down saying it was full of kids on spring break. All to start a war. All their ideas are in a declassified doc.

    Wake UP

    • Tina says:

“It is documented” is a silly phrase…it doesn’t mean anything.

Ideas from a “declassified doc” also don’t mean anything. It is taken out of context. The Intel community comes up with all kinds of scenarios…it doesn’t mean we actually follow through or even that they would be seriously considered. This is a case where a little knowledge can be dangerous and make you look incredibly stooopid.

You might start questioning the motives of those who peddle this crap.

  7. Dewster says:

Seymour Hersh’s reporting was vindicated later by the Turks

He said “«That ambassador who was killed, he was known as a guy, from what I understand, as somebody, who would not get in the way of the CIA. As I wrote, on the day of the mission he was meeting with the CIA base chief and the shipping company. He was certainly involved, aware and witting of everything that was going on. And there’s no way somebody in that sensitive of a position is not talking to the boss, by some channel».

    Goggle arond read his reporting

Fact is we created this mess we are not some innocent glorious country.

Time for the people to own our crimes and be cautious moving forward.

The McCain/Clinton types want WW3 Period that is why I was dead set against Hillary

  8. Tina says:

Have you bothered to notice we are not fans of McCain or Clinton at Post Scripts?

We are not an innocent country, no country is. On the whole the USA has been a force for good in the world.

We did not “start” this either. Radical Islamic terrorists have been a pox on the world for centuries, including during the early days of our founding:

Blockquote>As we watch the Somali pirate incident unfold in the Middle East, it serves as a reminder that, besides 9/11, Islam has had one other shaping influence on the history of the United States: we have a navy, thanks to the sea-going Islamic thugs of Thomas Jefferson’s day, the Barbary Pirates.

Even prior to our Declaration of Independence in 1776, Islamists under the control of an Ottoman warlord in Algiers were pirating American ships and enslaving their Christian crews. Thus our forefathers had early experience with state-sponsored terrorism, as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya all joined in the fun.

Prior to 1776, American ships had some measure of protection from the Royal Navy, which was replaced by French protection during the war for independence. But when that expired in 1783, U.S. ships came under attack again almost immediately, with the taking of the merchant ship Betsey by Moroccans in October of 1784.

Between 1785 and 1793, 13 American ships were captured along with 119 crewmen by Algiers alone. This was followed by the capture of the USS Philadelphia in 1804 with its crew of 307 sailors.

(As a side note, Lt. Stephen Decatur gained naval immortality by leading the USS Intrepid into the harbor of Tripoli, boarding the Philadelphia under cover of darkness and torching it, an act Admiral Horatio Nelson called “the most bold and daring act of the age.” Said the pope, the Americans by this action “had done more for the cause of Christianity than the most powerful nations of Christendom have done for ages.”)

Congress had begun dishing out handsome ransom payments to rescue ships and free enslaved American sailors. In other words, the first thing our forefathers tried, in responding to Islamic terrorism, was appeasement.

Two future presidents, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, were dispatched in 1786 to London to negotiate a peace treaty with the Dey of Algiers. They reported the Dey’s reason for his Islamically-inspired hostility towards America:

“[I]t was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

Does that have a familiar ring to anybody? This mindset is part of Islam, root and branch; always has been, always will.

This commitment to jihad, you will note, occurred long before American “imperialism,” before any use for oil had been discovered, before there was a state of Israel, and before America had done anything to anybody. Militant jihad, then, as it does today, stems from a profoundly dangerous religious impulse that sees only the World of Islam (Dar al-Islam) and the World of War (Dar al-Harb), with the world of Islam spiritually obligated to use force to subdue the infidels and bring them to belief in Allah and his prophet.

President George Washington warned Congress in 1793, speaking of the Barbary Pirates: “If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace…it must be known that we are at all times ready for war.” This speech led directly to the creation of the U.S. Navy in 1794.

    Wake up yourself!
