Governor’s Fall from Grace

by Jack

Love conquers all, and in more ways than you might think. This time the wrong kind of love took down one of the best governors in the history of the State of Alabama. His name, Robert Bentley. He’s 74, married 50 years, 4 adult children, Paul, John Mark, Luke, and Matthew and 7 grandkids. He was a former representative to the Alabama legislature and served he country as an Army officer in Vietnam. When he won the governors officer he vowed not to take a salary until the State was in full employment mode. He reformed the size the state government and saved the taxpayers billions of dollars. Now all that good work, as a devout Southern Baptist, a Sunday School teacher, a family counselor, a mentor and governor has all been brought crashing down by one tawdry affair with a staffer and charges of corruption stemming from that affair.

Bentley did not mention the plea deal in his public statement. But he did apologize.

“I’ve always believed the honor of serving as your governor was a calling that God placed on my life,” Bentley said. “Though I have committed myself to working to improve the lives of the people of our state, there have been times that I have let you and our people down, and I’m sorry for that.”

“It’s been a long time coming,” Rep. Ed Henry, a Republican who initiated the move to impeach the governor, told Montgomery’s WSFA 12 News. “I’m glad to see that he did the right thing. I wish he had done it sooner — for his sake and for the state’s, instead of dragging us down this road.” Los Angeles Times

Look at how accomplished this man was, its hard to imagine that at his age he could allow himself to be done in such a low pedestrian scandal. No matter the standards and values we hold, no matter the good we do in our lives, we are still flawed human beings…and we do pay a price.

Glad to see it was a fellow Republican that forced him to step down…it was the right thing to do. And he was right, Bentley should have stepped down sooner.

    Another good idea!

Even if repealing Obumblecare or getting tax reform fails, this session of Clowngress would be a historic success if they were able to institute Term Limits.

    Hello

A Person’s sex life is no one’s biz.

WHat the issue was ? The Alabama Ethics Commission alleged that Bentley committed several felonies tied to the misuse of public resources in his attempts to cover up the alleged affair.

He was booked on 2 criminal counts.

Bentley reportedly threatened to arrest people in possession of the secretly-recorded phone calls.

He pleaded to misdemeanors as part of his resignation deal.

His words are empty. Truth is he was busted.

That is not remorse ….. That is empty words after the fact.

    These Politicians always get off.

He needs to be tried as any common citizen would be. This is why these Politicians do what they do.

Including Trump and Hilary. They Always get off with a slap on the wrist.

    That is called Corruption.

And back here in Calif. there is a growing movement to throw the bums out.

Did you all know it was a republican’s vote that got this gas tax to pass, after a democrat decided to vote no? And he got $500 million for his Tracy/Altamont area district for his vote.
