Too late for gun-control, we’re all doomed. Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe told reporters yesterday that 93 million American people die from gun violence every day. A shocking number indeed, because that means that 2/3rds of the entire population of America has been killed in the past 2 days and today bunky, well…. your number is up! (McAuliffe, shown below, made a correction from 93M to 93 a day, but not until he repeated this mindless number 3 times and he was still wrong, it’s a lot less than 93!)
The ridiculous remark came as the Gov was giving a press conference following the shooting of five people at a baseball practice for members of Congress – including Republican Whip Steve Scalise, who was critically injured. McAuliffe glossed the fact this would have been a bloody massacre had it not been for a couple of armed security officers who engaged the shooters and killed him before he could kill his intended targets…. republican lawmakers.
How about we take a serious look at the bigger picture on gun violence and who is doing it and forget that clown McAuliffe. He’s the last guy we need to seek out for facts and once you know the facts, it makes one wonder why the liberal gun-grabbers are so obsessed over destroying our 2nd Amendment right. Okay, here we go:
New York Times article: “…death rate from gun homicides is about 31 per million people — the equivalent of 27 people shot dead every day of the year.” This according to their best research and this completely contradicts McAuliffe’s off the cuff number of persons killed per day.
FBI: According to the former FBI chief, the number of people killed by the police turns out to be remarkably unreliable. (No duh.)
“We can’t have an informed discussion, because we don’t have data,” FBI Director James Comey said in the House of Representatives in October, 2016.
“People have data about who went to a movie last weekend, or how many books were sold, or how many cases of the flu walked into an emergency room. And I cannot tell you how many people were shot by police in the United States last month, last year, or anything about the demographics. And that’s a very bad place to be.”
Ah, but according to the BBC News Magazine who did their own investigation, they determined that on average about 990 people are killed by police per year. 99% justified. That’s 13.2 killed per day by police, so we better deduct that from the 27 shot per day according to the New York Times! One the other hand, according to the group Black Lives Matters… these characters would still be classified as victims. Oh sure, they were just nice black folk who did nothing wrong and were probably sitting on their front porch when the cops just came along and shot em. Nah, I’m not buying what BLM is selling, are you?
In 2012, Violence Policy Center released a fresh analysis of federal crime and health data found 259 justifiable self-defense shootings that resulted in death, non-death were not counted. This seems to be about normal, so let’s deduct .79 persons per day from the annual total. The best guestimate is on average 9,500 people used a firearm inappropriately in some way and that led to a death last year. This number may appear large, but it does not even make the top 10 causes of death in the USA every year, according to the study reported by Medical News Today.
This nation and again [on average] according to the Uniform Crime Report as kept by the Dept. of Justice, will have about 1.2 million violent crimes, including murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault in a year. Or put another way, 1.2 million scenarios in which there was potential for someone to kill in self-defense.
Now let’s revisit those 990 police shootings compared to the 1.2 million scenarios for self defense and it puts that 990 number in better perspective doesn’t it?
And the leading per capita criminal offenders by race and by a wide margin are blacks, but Gov. McAuliffe makes no mention of this, then again that’s a large part of his voter base. So for purely self-serving political reasons the Black Lives Matters version of the truth is often left unchallenged. Nothing to see here folks, move along…what a joke.
The sad truth is, since 2001, the share of black-on-black as a proportion of those killed of each race peaked at 91.9% according to an investigative study in 2016 by US News Reports. This statistic is the 3rd rail of politics and nobody is willing to speak about it, they would rather talk about the NRA and the legal gun owner like they are the problem that only more gun control can solve.
Traffic accidents injured 4.6 million in 2016 according to National Safety Center. NSC estimates the cost of motor-vehicle deaths, injuries, and property damage in 2016 was $432 billion.
Oddly, we don’t see liberals racing up to the tv news camera’s with their driver improvement legislation. Wait, that would be too logical. Based on their history for gun legislation our liberals ought to be pushing for anti-car legislation, after all cars are killing people, just like guns kill people, absent people using them. Well, we can’t blame the people who are responsible can we? We better blame the object… it’s more politically viable. So, following this logic we ought to blame water for drownings.
