CalExit?

Shankar Singam is leading the charge for California to cecede from the nation to form a seperate nation. He says California is “not the United States.” That’s true for all of the states. In fact those states agreed to form or to join the United States of America to mutual benefit under the Constitution. The man is obvioulsy not steeped in knowledge of our founding and Constitution. He is aligned with globalist that would love to see our Constitution decimated and our nation cut down to size.

Singham’s explanation for people leaving the state explains his global socialist vision, which is a disaster (Venezuela) in the making. the following is part of an interview with Tucker Carlson reported by real Clear Politics:

The Calexit proponent also said it is a “good thing” that the middle class is fleeing the state because it will make room for the “new wave” of immigrants. Singam told Carlson that “the United States” should be thanking “us” for “exporting” the state’s middle class to the rest of the country.

“If everyone in the middle class is leaving, that’s actually a good thing. We need these spots opened up for the new wave of immigrants to come up. It’s what we do,” Singam told Carlson.

Carlson responds to Singam’s claim that California is one of the largest economies in the world, saying that is due to the large wealth gap between the rich such as tech companies and the poor. Carlson pointed out that there is basically no middle class as they are packing up and moving out of the state.

“Your state or country or whatever we’re calling it now, there’s been a massive exodus of middle-class Californians to neighboring states. The numbers are there. You’ve lost hundreds of thousands making between $100,000 and $200,000 over the past 10 years and they’ve enriched Idaho and Montana and even Wyoming and Washington state. If it’s such a well-run place, why are the middle class leaving?” Carlson asked Singam.

“Tucker, you have to look at the bigger picture here,” Singam answered. “The fifth largest economy in the world. Just repeat that. Say it again. We are the fifth largest economy.”

“That’s the first time I’ve heard that,” Carlson said. “It’s basically the economy of Mexico. You’ve got a small number of rich people, the tech people, and then you’ve got a ton of poor people and the middle class is leaving. That’s a recipe for instability. You’re aware of that, right?”

“If everyone in the middle class is leaving, that’s actually a good thing. We need these spots opened up for the new wave of immigrants to come up. It’s what we do. We export our middle class to the United States. You guys should be thanking us for that,” Singam said to a stunned Carlson.

“Not only that, when our middle class does move out to Texas and Colorado they are taking our values out to the United States. If you look at Texas, in fact, all the major cities Californians are going to they are turning blue. And soon enough Texas will be a blue state,” Singam said.

This guy actually thinks the people leaving California are taking lefty values with them? There may be some who are looking at better economic and educational conditions for their kids. California ranks 49th in education. But most are conservatives who sense the state has left the values and government policies that made America great are being shoved out of California.

Excuse the repetiton, Singam is nothing if not a talking billboard of talking points for the globalist socialists of California. Singham also claimed the exiters would eventually “get bored” in their new states and come back…yeah sure. California will turn into an even greater hell hole of poverty, homelessness and crime. who would want to stay much less come back.

Here are a few facts that should alarm Californians whether or not the exit movement succeeds:

California still sends more revenue to the federal government than it receives but just barely:

In January 2017, the California Legislative Analyst’s Office said by several measures California is, indeed, a donor state, but just barely. It receives $0.99 in federal expenditures per dollar of taxes paid, which is below the national average return for states of $1.22 per dollar paid, according to its review of a 2015 New York Comptroller study.

California is deep in debt:

SACRAMENTO — California has come a long way to dig itself out of budget deficits, but the state remains on shaky ground due to nearly $400 billion in unfunded liabilities and debt from public pensions, retiree health care and bonds, financial analysts say.

“Yes, the state’s budget is balanced if you are looking at what they are required to spend cash on this year, but not when you look at their expenses,” said Gabe Petek, a credit analyst with Standard & Poor’s.

California’s debt and liabilities that are concerning financial analysts, particularly the state’s rapidly growing unfunded retiree health care costs, which grew more than 80 percent over the past decade. California has promised $74 billion more in health and dental benefits to current and retired state workers than the state has put aside.

Bond debt also has risen substantially in California, with the state’s reliance on borrowing for infrastructure resulting in 1 of every 2 dollars spent on those projects going to pay interest, according to the Department of Finance.

Tucker asked Singam what he planned to do about military bases and federal lands in California…he mumbled something about the federal government “renting” the land and that the US military is stationned in other countries, why not the “nation” of California?

Good luck negotiating with the United States of America on that!

What do you think California…will the loony left accomplish their exit?

Glad to see sanctuary city Stockton is interested in Sessions new policy. It is one of the he77 holes of crime as Jack has relayed through his son.

Just have to say, it’s wonderful to see adult stature in our government.

How ironic that’s it’s being delayed by Taxifornia’s own liberal justice and environmental systems.

Ironic indeed. The bad news is these delays cause costs to go up. I like the private sector alternative mentioned at the end of the article:

While high-speed rail stumbles, the hyperloop, the Elon Musk-backed alternative that would use new technology along existing rights of way, achieved a new milestone by running nearly 200 miles per hour in a test Saturday.

Government should stick to governing and devising policies that empower the people to innovate and advance.
