John Kelly “Stunned” and “Broken Hearted” by Rep. Frederica Wilson’s (D-Fla.) “Negative Description” of Call to Fallen Soldiers Wife!

Re-posted from The Hill:

White House chief of staff John Kelly lashed out at Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) on Thursday, saying he was “stunned” by her negative description of President Trump’s call to the wife of a U.S. soldier killed in Niger.

“I was stunned when I came to work yesterday morning,” he told reporters during an impromptu appearance at the White House press briefing, adding he was “broken hearted” over the negative publicity surrounding the call.

Wilson revealed that Trump told the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson that her husband “knew what he was getting into.”

“I would have thought that was sacred,” Kelly said of Trump’s conversation with Myeshia Johnson. Wilson was present for the call.

Wilson’s statements “eroded [it] a great deal,” said Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general who lost a son in Afghanistan.

He said so much more. I am looking for the video…and will add the link if it’s available!

Twitchy has the video from CNN: “It stuns me that a member of Congress would listen in on that conversation. It absolutely stuns me. I thought that, at least, was sacred.”

I don’t see a denial that Trump said Johnson “knew what he was getting into” anywhere in Kelly’s comments.

Which means that when Trump denied he said that, he was lying about what he told the widow of a fallen soldier.

    • Tina says:

Did you listen to all his remarks or just react to those quoted?

Trump didn’t deny that he used those words; he denied that his words were meant as anything but praise!

When he says, “I didn’t say that” he is responding to the false interpretation of his remarks.

John Kelly DOES address the remarks made by Trump in his recounting of the advice he gave Trump prior to the call…which he witnessed!!!!!

I’m done, Chris. You can rail till you’re blue; I will not give another second of my time to such petty, disrespectful, partisan, BS.

        Tina,

Your resident pissant focuses only on what he thinks damns Trump. Whether Trump said “knew what he was getting into” or not is of little importance. Unfair and prejudicial characterizing it as insensitive and callous is all that matters to this transparent demagogue who hates Trump. Do you really give a hoot what chimp thinks? All Chris ever does in these pages is crap in his paw and sling it.

        • Tina says:

Pie my obligation is to the wider readership of this blog. I respond in order to make sure such opinions are considered from a broader perspective. So it isn’t that I “care” what Chris thinks so much as I care what our readers find or discover in the exchange.

“Trump didn’t deny that he used those words; he denied that his words were meant as anything but praise!

When he says, “I didn’t say that” he is responding to the false interpretation of his remarks.”

You are now abusing the English language in order to argue that a serial liar did not lie. This is ridiculous. “I didn’t say that” means “I didn’t say that,” not “I said it but meant it in a different way than you took it.”

If Trump had said “Yes, I did say Sgt. Johnson knew what he was signing up for, and I stand by it. He bravely signed up for the possibility of dying for his country, and my comment was meant to honor that sacrifice,” I would not only consider that an honest comment; I would applaud it.

But he said “I didn’t say that,” which was dishonest. It was a lie.

I do agree that Wilson should not have shared the contents of the call. That was unethical. I can see why she thought she should do it after Trump degraded past presidents by claiming they didn’t make phone calls, but that doesn’t make it right.

C SPAN coverage of Kelly’s remarks today —

      Thanks for the link, Pie.

His remarks in full are remarkable for many reasons. His own status as a Gold Star father makes them even more poignant.

The criticism leveled at Trump is also demeaning to Kelly since he instructed Trump in what he could say, including the misunderstood words, “he (your husband) knew what he signed up for.”

Ms. Wilson needs to explain her voting record against vets and the military.

Florida Democrat Wilson no friend of veterans, vote record shows:

“t turns out that U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson has frequently voted against measures intended to help veterans and their families, according to VoteSmart.org, a vote-tracking site whose founding board members included former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.

The measures that Wilson opposed included a bill that could have ensured that families of four soldiers slain in Afghanistan in 2013 received death and burial benefits.

In fact, Wilson’s voting record on veterans issues may call into question the sincerity of her recent defense of U.S. service members and their families.

Despite Wilson’s claim to be “committed to honoring our service members, not only with words but with deeds,” she has voted against most bills ensuring continued funding for veteran benefits, including payments to widows of fallen soldiers, the vote-tracking site shows.

She has also opposed measures designed to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In March 2013, Wilson opposed the “Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act,” which prevented a government shutdown and provided funds for the U.S. military and the VA.”

The orthodox press who have willfully mischaracterized Trump’s phone call for days are furious at Kelly for so thoroughly rebuking them.

Case in point, this chimp from CNN —

    Brian Fallon‏ @brianefallon

Kelly isnt just an enabler of Trump. He’s a believer in him. That makes him as odious as the rest. Dont be distracted by the uniform.

      Also a great find, Pie.

It seems the more they lose the more desperate and “odious” they become. And they are losing big time. Governors, state houses, Congress and the presidency were just a start…media…football…Hollywood…education…the courts…block by block and armed with the ideals of our founding we are reclaiming America. It’s true that some will come along kicking and screaming but the goal is more than worth the struggle.

      • Peggy says:

Totally agree, the dems are losing on so many fronts they are getting desperate. Using Gold Star families is the lowest and most desperate act, as of today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Their acts of desperation is IMO because Trump fights back, unlike past republican presidents who didn’t, at least not for anything I can remember.

Another major mistake the dems are making is their failure to realize every time they attack Trump they really are attacking the 62 million voters who voted for him and the growing number of democrats who are ashamed of Wilson’s behavior and support our military.

Both parties have problems, but the dems are imploding.

  5. Harold says:

It has clearly become the norm that the more Trump and his administration do to reverse the fecklessness of the Obama years, the more agitated and animated the liberals become.

Sort of like turning on a light in a filthy house and watching the cockroaches scurry for cover. Keep it up Trump, just remember, draining the swamp is one thing, dealing with the snakes that inhabit it is another.

  6. Peggy says:

Here’s another foot in mouth video for dems. Have to love how easy it is these days pulling up the history of the last present’s words.

Obama: “The job you signed up for is not easy. It can mean long shifts and late nights. It demands focus, and determination, and great bravery in the face of unknown dangers. When you run into that building or chase down that suspect, you will be risking your own life in order to protect the lives of men and women you have never met, and some that you may never know.

But you knew all that when you joined the academy. You knew the risks involved, you knew the sacrifices required, and yet you stood up and said, “I’ll take that risk. I’ll make that sacrifice. I will do that job.”

Wilson now describes herself as a rock star and Kelly as a racist. God I love Democrats.
