Retired Law Enforcement Guy Has Problem at DMV

Posted by Jack

P` WRITES:…Advice to our Law Enforcement brothers and sisters, when seeking California DMV Drivers’ License renewal. Bring ALL documents for `REAL ID.`

Got my Calif DL renewal via mail. It said I have a good record, no accidents or tickets. “Respond at DMV before your birthday, pay $34, take eye test, get new picture and wait for License to come in mail.”

After a FIVE hour encounter at DMV, mission complete❗

Within a weeks time, my new license comes in the mail. Upon review noticed something different. New license says:

“Federal Restrictions Apply”.

What a surprise, I got A Non Documented Alien D-Lic, Calif. Assembly Bill 60, (AB-60) .

Went to my part time job at a Gun Shop. CAL-DOJ/Firearms Division put out a Notice that the new CDL (AB 60 License) IS NOT VALID TO PURCHASE A FIREARM !!!! Also not accepted as a form of ID to board an airline to fly anywhere beginning 2020.?

CAL-DOJ Notice shows clear examples of Federal restricted license and Copies of Real ID.

Call to CAL-DOJ confirms new CDL has these restrictions. I was advised by them to get a “Real ID”. Told That I must respond BACK to DMV, bring in my SS Card, my Birth Certificate and my proof of residence (Car Reg. in my name OK), pay additional fee and get this `Real ID`..

I responded back to DMV. After a 3 hour wait to speak to a supervisor, he says, “CAL-DOJ is wrong.” That “your NEW  Current  AB-60, Federal Restriction ID is good for Gun purchase.” SO I produced tgecCAL-DOJ info bulletin that negates such. AFTER 1 hour of more confusion and head scratching with DMV Management I gave them the CAL-DOJ info bulletin.

Conclusion by these state DMV employees:..”CAL-Dept. of Motor Vehicles and CAL-Department of Justice in conflict with policies”..❓

DMV instructed me to again APPLY to get the “Real ID”, pay $28 dollars more, produce SS card, birth certificate and proof of residence. Told him I had already paid $34 for the license.

DMV Response by new clerk: “sorry no info bulletins are sent out with DLic Renewal…?

Only way to get `Real ID` was to follow their policy of resubmitting.

I provided these items, copies made of all my documents, packet submitted with fingerprint and new picture..

Have to wait to see what arrives in the mail..?

While waiting inside Cal DMV, hours and hours, I noted many small children getting their photos taken, also their AB-60 ID’s. It’s easier to get that ID than renewing my regular, Cal Drivers Lic.!

I’m just a native son of SF, driving since 16, now 61. 34 years wearing a uniform, BADGE & gun. Holy SHIT Batman..! Just doesn’t seem right.! Governor Moonbeam BROWN and the Communist California Legislature got me…❗

…..My comment:

LEAVE WHAT’S LEFT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA🏀️‍♂️BEFORE YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM DOING SO..❗

Can’t remember (old age, y’know . . . ) if I’ve posted this here before, but here goes

Left Taxifornia for good in 2000. Re-registered all our vehicles in NV. Next tax season, CA DMV snatched our tax refund in payment for one of our vehicles they thought wasn’t registered. (All they had to do is run the VIN number to find that it was registered in NV) After 2 letters to DMV with documentation that we had moved outta Taxifornia with no response, we wrote to Gov Gray Davis and finally got a refund.

And DMV did it again a few years later, but this time they snatched $400 out of the one remaining bank account we had in Taxifornia for a truck we had sold 2 years previously! Took another letter to the Governator to get a refund. Good Sam magazine even did an article on our battles with Taxifornia’s DMV.

So if you’re leaving the once-Golden state, be sure to take your bank accounts with you!!!!

  3. Libby says:

Jack, you do the cause no good by re-posting this bogus horsepucky. DMV renewals simply don’t happen like this. They certainly don’t work like this for folk whose licenses are flagged “law enforcement”, not even retired LE. Unless you’ve done something naughty, you don’t have to set foot on the premises.

It particularly does not help your cause (at this particular time) when contrasted with the fact that in Florida, you don’t need no license, nor permit, nor nothing to purchase firearms.

And what’s all this “California” groaning about, when this whole debacle with Real ID’s is the work of the HSA, not Governor Moonbeam?

You people barely make any sense anymore.

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby, this letter was vetted by a Chief of Police and it is accurate. Of course there can be other methods to renew.

      • Libby says:

What do police chiefs know about DMV procedure?

I know enough to know you can’t possibly wind up with an “Alien” license (which is a brand new classification), by renewing a “Citizen” license. The computer simply will not do it.

Unless … the computer has help from a pissed-off clerk. A citizen who spends five hours in a DMV office being obtuse might just inspire such misbehavior.

      • RHT447 says:

I’m starting to see this on the gun forums as well. The AB60 licenses are raising hob there as well. Here is an interesting memo from ATF–

    • Tina says:

Libby: “…the fact that in Florida, you don’t need no license, nor permit, nor nothing to purchase firearms.”

      Legal Beagle:

Purchasing a gun in Florida is a relatively straightforward procedure. A licensed gun dealer supplies you with Form 4473 from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to fill out for a criminal background check. You’ll also need to provide an acceptable type of government-issued proof of identity, such as a driver’s license or passport.

      Florida Gun Purchases

To purchase a rifle or shotgun, you must be at least 18 years old. No waiting period is required. The minimum age for purchasing a handgun is 21, with a mandatory three-day waiting period unless you already have a state-issued concealed weapons permit. Background checks are required for both types of guns, but fingerprints are not. Florida doesn’t limit the number of firearms you purchase at one time with each background check. If you purchase additional weapons in the future, you must undergo another background check.

      Background Check Non-approval

If the background check reveals a felony conviction, active warrant, mental illness or domestic violence charge, you might not receive approval. That’s also true if you are currently using illegal drugs or you’ve been convicted of controlled substance charges within the past year. A dishonorable discharge or court martial from the U.S. military can trigger non-approval, as can renunciation of U.S. citizenship. If you were convicted of a felony as a juvenile and are still under the age of 24, it’s unlikely you will receive approval for a gun purchase in Florida. Illegal aliens can’t receive approval to purchase guns.

  4. Harold says:

No one could argue that California has some strange laws; let along now being a Sanctuary State, which clearly has proven not to be safe for everyone.

California’s DMV offices have earned the reputation of one of the most inconsistent entities in State Government. As Jack stated, yes there is other ways to renew, using them possibly helps simplify some procedures, not all. And when your at the mercy of bureaucracy, lord knows that in California Government regulations are a minefield.

So I have no reason to doubt the piece Jack posted about P’s letter, I do doubt the reply by Libby about “Police chiefs”, who live and die by DMV codes on the roads understanding DMV procedure on the” federal limits apply license” because if the normally trained DMV person behind the counter presses the wrong button you have a problem. Maybe that is were all the misunderstanding stems from.

Seems to be a issue when they press all the correct button as well.

    • Libby says:

“I do doubt the reply by Libby about “Police chiefs”, who live and die by DMV codes on the roads …”

DMV admin procedure and the Vehicle Code are not the same thing, Harold. Are you being deliberately obtuse? Are you attempting Tina’s favorite rhetorical device … refusing to abide by common definitions and objective reality?

It is not possible to communicate with people who do this … which is one of many reasons I spend little time here these days.

      • Tina says:

“It is not possible to communicate with people who do this…”

Your own internal conversations must be a riot!

“…which is one of many reasons I spend little time here these days.”

        BS

You spend little time here because you and your party currently look like a bunch lying, divisive, agitating sore losers…not to mention your party’s severe corruption problems.

        • RHT447 says:

Ha! Go Tina! You’re wearing Libby down.

          • Libby says:

And whose administration is full of folk who cannot get a security clearance? Some people’s definition of corruption is decidedly … uh … fluid?

I must also point out that the WH personnel “indictment ratio” between the OA and the TA decidedly favors the OA … and at only one year in!

What will the next three bring? Plenty of opportunity for me to drop in, from time to time, to rub your little noses into the consequences of an extremely poor decision.

  5. Tina says:

“…whose administration is full of folk who cannot get a security clearance?”

I remember marveling that Bill Clinton (as well as his wife and their merry band of criminal sycophants and co-conspirators) was able to pass scrutiny to become our nations president. The criminal scandals now being exposed around the fraudulent Russian dossier, fusion GPS, Uranium One and the multiple players of the Obama FBI and Justice Department and Hillary State Department add significant weight to the already criminal history of the Clintons and the threats they pose to our REPUBLIC!

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama represent radically extreme elements of the global elitist socialist that work to establish absolute control word wide. There has never been a greater threat to individual freedom and rights than these people represent. They are the ultimate in security threats!

    From around the web:

Eight high ranking Department of Justice and FBI officials have been removed, reassigned or are rumored to be leaving. They include the top FBI agents who worked on two of the agency’s most high-profile investigations in the past two years: the probe into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information as secretary of state, and the Trump-Russia collusion investigation.

… investigations into the investigators include Congressional inquiries and a multi-faceted probe launched by Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz surrounding the FBI decision not to prosecute Clinton. Specifically, Horowitz—who was appointed by President Obama—said he’s reviewing:

Allegations that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik should have recused themselves.

Allegations of improper political contacts by Kadzik.

Allegations that Justice Department and FBI employees improperly disclosed non-public information and were influenced by improper considerations in releasing certain documents just before the 2016 election.

…Fired: Sally Yates, Deputy Attorney General – Yates admitted that as Deputy Attorney General under Loretta Lynch, she engaged in the sensitive practice of unmasking and reviewing classified documents from “Trump, his associates or any member of Congress.” Later, as Acting Attorney General, Yates ordered Justice Department attorneys not to defend President Trump’s ban on certain Muslim visitors from entering the U.S.

Departed: Peter Kadzik, Department of Justice liaison to Congress, Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs. – Alleged conflicts of interest with the Hillary Clinton campaign and alleged disclosure of nonpublic information for political reasons.

During the FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton, Kadzik appeared to tip off Clinton presidential campaign chairman John Podesta about two issues: an upcoming hearing where a Justice Department official would be asked about the Clinton emails, and the timing of the release of some Clinton emails. Kadzik previously worked for Podesta as an attorney. He denied any wrongdoing.

“Retiring”: Andrew McCabe, FBI Deputy Director – Failure to exclude himself from leading the Hillary Clinton email probe despite alleged conflicts of interest.

Appointed by James Comey, McCabe led the FBI investigation that determined Hillary Clinton should not be prosecuted for her mishandling of classified emails. McCabe’s wife had reportedly received $700,000 for her unsuccessful Virginia senate campaign from close Clinton ally Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. (McAuliffe was also said to be under FBI investigation regarding campaign contributions from a Chinese businessman. He has not been charged and has denied any wrongdoing.)

“Reassigned”: James Baker, FBI General Counsel – Reportedly under IG investigation for allegedly improperly leaking information.

Baker also served as counsel for McCabe during Congressional questioning. Separately, Baker was allegedly in contact with a reporter who published the first story about an anti-Trump “dossier” alleging ties between Trump and Russia. (The reporter denies Baker was a source.) The dossier was presented shortly before the election as if it were an intelligence investigative file. But it turned out to be political opposition research funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Congress is investigating whether the FBI improperly used the dossier to convince a secret court to authorize wiretaps to surveil Trump associates. The FBI reportedly secretly offered to pay the author of the dossier to keep pursuing leads after the election, but the deal wasn’t ultimately consummated.

Some rats are abandoning ship in an effort to avoid public scrutiny others are being low-profiled. But it won’t matter. The criminality will all be exposed in due time.

Better shore up protections for your own nose Libby.
