Red Hen Refuses Service to Sarah Huckabee-Sanders

by Jack

The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, VA., is located about 200 miles from Washington D.C. So, it came as a surprise that Sarah Huckabee-Sanders might be dining in their small eatery.

It all began when the Chef at the Red Hen called the co-owner, Stephanie Wilkinson, at home to give her the news. She couldn’t believe it, so she rushed down to the restaurant to see for herself. Sure enough, there was Sarah Huckabee-Sanders with a party of 8. She was hard to miss. Her table equaled about a third of the total occupancy. Wilkinson went to the kitchen and called for a quick staff meeting. She told the staff that she could ask her leave and they all said, “Yes!” As she would later say, there was no question in her mind that she had to make a “moral” decision because she felt Sanders represented an unethical administration.” Wilkinson approached the table, “I said, ‘I’m the owner,’ ” she recalled, ” ‘I’d like you to come out to the patio with me for a word.”

Sanders obliged her and Wilkinson escorted her to the tiny patio. She said, ‘I’d like to ask you to leave.’ ” “I explained that the restaurant has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation. ( Hmmm… I think Wilkinson just set herself up to be the judge and jury, not to mention being a mind reader.)

Sanders replied politely, “That’s fine, I’ll go.” She returned to her table and explained she was being kicked out. Her company was told they could stay, but they declined and offered to pay for what they had consumed, basically this was only some diced cheeses. Wilkinson told them it was on the house.

After the restaurant closed one of her employees posted a photo on Facebook of the note Wilkinson left for the next shift, “86 – Sara Huckabee Sanders,” read the note, below the reminder to buy more Pellegrino. 86 is restaurant lingo for don’t serve her. Apparently he thought posting this note was okay, but it set off a firestorm of opposing opinions when the news went viral. Sanders would later Tweet her response to this indignity, “I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so,” the press secretary wrote. “Her actions say far more about her than about me.”

I think this incident is a new low even for liberal politics, it’s also the second such incident that happened in less than a week. Prior to this a secretary for Homeland Security was asked to leave another restaurant.

Wilkinson judgement to toss the White House staffer was a gross overreaction to political differences, but even now, in hindsight, she said she would do it again.

Knowing how strongly she feels about her politics, I sure wouldn’t eat in her place, she might spit in my soup!

    One response: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/06/hah-hacker-changes-menu-of-little-liberal-red-hen-restaurant-that-tossed-out-sarah-sanders-and-her-children/

Red Hen was #1 out of 61 eateries on Trip Advisor before the Sanders boot. Yelp reviews dropped them from in the 4’s down into the 2’s.

  2. Harold says:

    copied from internet article:

“(Newser) – The little Red Hen restaurant in rural Virginia found itself squarely in the middle of a big Beltway brouhaha after Sarah Huckabee Sanders was turned away on Friday night, and now the owner gives the Washington Post the backstory. Stephanie Wilkinson was home when her chef called around 8pm to say that Sanders had walked in with a group, and wondered what to do. Wilkinson drove to the restaurant, confirmed that it was indeed Sanders, and asked her staff, “Tell me what you want me to do. I can ask her to leave.” Wilkinson notes that some of her employees are gay. “They said ‘yes.'” Wilkinson says she asked Sanders to step outside, and though “I was babbling a little … I explained that the restaurant has certain standards … such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation.” Asked to leave, Sanders said, “That’s fine. I’ll go.” (I think that comment seems to fly in the face of the restaurant actions, just more Liberal CYA BS, my thoughts not those of the article)

Sanders’ group elected to clear out with her, and offered to pay for their entrees, which were being prepared; Wilkinson opted not to charge the group. Usually, politics aren’t on the menu at the Red Hen, Wilkinson says. “I’m not a huge fan of confrontation. I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.” That business was mired firmly in controversy Saturday, with trolls of both flavors clogging the Red Hen’s Yelp page (which now has two stars), its reservation line, and even shouting from the sidewalk in Lexington. The restaurant opted not to open Saturday night, writing in an email that, “We would like to avoid exposing our patrons to any potential unpleasantness from outside entities.”

Really how about unpleasant internal entities?
My thoughts are, considering it was the Chef that called the owner, and we all know what a disgrudled chef or serving staff can do to food, Sanders and her group made a wise decision to leave.

Civility in America seems to have taken a leave of absence from the minds of Liberals. What a bunch of narcistic berating fools Liberals have become, or have they always been such and now are just being outed?

Trumps approval rating is rising as he gets things done…the more they pull this crap the higher it will go.

They don’t live lives of tolerance, they just smugly preach it. It takes a humble spirit to live in peace with those who hold different views. Sarah Sanders can do it. They are a party stricken with collective, emotional, explosive behavior.

    • Libby says:

“Trumps approval rating is rising as he gets things done … the more they pull this crap the higher it will go.”

How CAN you say this? It is a flaming untruth. Trump’s approval rating is right where it’s always been, in the high thirties. There was a little spike in May, but then he opened is big mouth again.

I’ll tell you what stat’s rising … the one measuring the percentage of the population who think he should be impeached; it’s hit the early-forties … nearly Nixon levels.

One the other hand, nobody is really comfortable about this escalation in societal angst. And it’s really weird, because the Sessions strategy is no huge escalation in the sort of inhumanity already being perpetrated at our southern border.

Apparently, what we can’t stand is a braggart who brags on it, who lies about it, and most heinous of all, tries to blackmail the opposition with it.

The lowest of the low, is The Donald.

      • Tina says:

The only true polls are the ones that take place on election day.

June 18, 2018, Business Insider, “Trump’s approval rating just reached its highest level yet in the gold standard of presidential indicators”

President Donald Trump’s approval rating is at an all-time high of 45% in the Gallup weekly tracking poll. … Trump’s approval rating at this point in his presidency lines up with the ratings of other presidents at similar times in their first terms.

“the percentage of the population who think he should be impeached…”

CNN polls, like most others, find ways to deceive with polling data. The put their thumbs on the scales by polling a higher percentage of Democrats or radical democrats and ask leading questions like, “If Trump starts WWII over North Korea should he be impeached?” In any event you should know the number is weighted by the 70% of Democrats polled who want him impeached and…”Overall, 41 percent of Americans polled believe Trump should be impeached and compelled to leave office, while 53 percent disagree.

“Apparently, what we can’t stand is a braggart who brags on it, who lies about it, and most heinous of all, tries to blackmail the opposition with it.”

What you can;t stand is that you lost the election…sore losers!

Of course Barack Obama didn’t have to “brag” cause the sycophants in media did plenty of that for him. Still, he wasn’t afraid to use the words I, me, and my every single time he spoke…if that ain’t braggin’ I don’t know what is.

Don’t know what makes you think Trump is lying or trying to blackmail the opposition…I’d need examples…so I can’t speak to that but I’d be willing to take it on if you can provide some meat.

I’ll put Trumps record at this point against any others and then we can discuss “low.”

In fact…something tickles at the back of my brain…something about keeping my doctor……

  4. Tina says:

LOL Jack, our favorite yammering rad leftie in the House weighed in:

“I have no sympathy for these people that are in this administration who know it’s wrong for what they’re doing on so many fronts. They tend to not want to confront this president or even leave, but they know what they’re doing is wrong. I want to tell you, these members of his cabinet who remain and try to defend him, they won’t be able to go to a restaurant, they won’t be able to stop at a gas station, they’re not going to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them. They’re going to protest. They’re absolutely going to harass them until they decide that they’re going to tell the president, ‘No, I can’t hang with you.’ This is wrong. This is unconscionable. We can’t keep doing this to children.”

Radical lefties don’t know how to do anything that isn’t ugly, intolerant, destructive, or divisive.

  5. Pie Guevara says:

This would be fun. People wearing MAGA hats and t-shirts peacefully flooding the Red Hen, sitting down, and waiting for service.

    • Tina says:

That would be fun! Polite as he77! Let em throw us all out…maybe they could use buses….

(I’d post a few links to distributors but I wouldn’t want to help make them targets of the left’s hate machine.)

      • Peggy says:

The Red Hen is closed until July 5th. Guess they needed a vacation after all of hate they gave out and the blow-back they got. Or they decided to clean up the place inside and out. Guy is already cleaning the windows. LOL

Wonder what the lost revenue will cost them? Other businesses in town are also complaining about the negative attention.

        • Post Scripts says:

Don’t be surprised if another restaurant in that town offers the Sanders group a free dinner as a way of saying we are not all hateful people. It would be great advertisement.

          • Peggy says:

From what I’ve read and heard this was a family get together a hundreds of miles away from their home. Don’t know if other Sander’s family members live there or too traveled there for the weekend. I doubt any family members would accept any free meal if offered.

Right now I’m watching other town people speaking out against what the owner of The Red Hen did and how its reflected so badly on their little town. She’s resigned her membership from the town business organization she belonged to.

The future is not looking good for her, the business and her employees. Small towns don’t take kindly to those who bring shame upon them. Now, instead of being remembered for the burial sites of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee everyone will remember it for The Red Hen house that brought disgrace to their town.

She was inspired by an evil political mind set. A political desire to strike at ICE and discredit it. This is what passes for journalism these days. Their needed adversarial position to remain a watchdog has been corrupted by a leftist political agenda.

The damage done was pure evil. An honorable man’s reputation has been smeared grievously by a (admittedly stupid) left-wing harpy from hell. He will never be able to remove that stain.

      • Pie Guevara says:

Re “Pure stupid is more like it”: Not to put too fine a point on it, but here is the pertinent definition of the word calumny —
A false and malicious statement designed to injure the reputation of someone or something.

This looks a staged incident. Why would Sanders travel 200 miles to dine at this tiny non-descript restaurant? Other than to create an incident.

    • Post Scripts says:

Why would she travel 200 miles to eat? Hmmmm… well, I’ve travelled that far to meet up with friends and family before for a dinner, in fact it was a birthday party. But, hey I’m going with your conspiracy theory…yes, those people could all be in on it! Her friends/family saw an opportunity to dine at a place where their very presence would cause the owner to come down, hold a staff meeting in the back kitchen, get a group consensus to remove Huckabee-Sanders and later post the story on facebook. And how did they (Huckabee-Sanders, et al) know this would play out exactly this way by merely showing up? It’s probably because they can see into the future! That means they were space aliens, extraterrestrials, they knew exactly what was going to happen – there could be no other explanation! Huckabee-Sanders is probably one of them. This explains a lot!

  9. Libby says:

    This is interesting …

    https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/25/liberals-attack-bondi-sanders-trump-667934

I’m not sure I concur with the “you started it” defense. But this is what happens when you push people beyond their comfort zones. The Donald’s response, to threaten marshall law, is not helpful … very poor leadership, in fact.

    • Post Scripts says:

My take from this article was that the left is behaving poorly and irresponsibly… again. “Two senior Trump administration officials were heckled at restaurants. A third was denied service. Florida GOP Attorney General Pam Bondi required a police escort away from a movie about Mister Rogers after activists yelled at her in Tampa — where two other Republican lawmakers say they were also politically harassed last week, one of them with her kids in tow. In the Donald Trump era, the left is as aggressively confrontational as anyone can remember.” That’s pretty awful… don’t like where this is headed.

    • Post Scripts says:

The article did publish at least one lie and it’s easily provable, “As Republicans complain about the confrontations, Democrats say it’s a simple reaction to the president’s radical policies. It’s little different, they say, than what conservatives did to Democratic lawmakers during President Barack Obama’s first midterm elections, when town halls became spectacles of shouting about Obamacare.
“This is certainly nothing new,” Rep. Dina Titus, a Nevada Democrat, said in recounting her 2010 loss. During the campaign, tea party activists would use bullhorns at “Congress on the Corner” events she hosted in front of grocery stores. “There was [also] a lady who followed me around everywhere. … I also recall that some of the tea party people spit on some of our members as they walked into the House to vote.”

There was no spitting. That incident was captured on video tape and at the very worst what it was was an older gentleman protester trying to yell something to a Congressman a few feet away and he possibly sprayed a tiny bit of saliva during his effort to get the words out. We’ve all seen that. When were kids we would reply, “Say it don’t spray it.” There was no deliberate spitting, that part was a completely self-serving lie that keeps being repeated for the convenience of the liars.

      • Tina says:

The incident occurred when the tea party was minding it’s own business, holding up signs in a peaceful protest, when Speaker Pelosi, wielding a huge gavel (threatening weapon?), backed by black caucus members, crossed the mall to seek out and provoke tea partiers with accusations of racism. The spittler was indeed just trying to express himself in the heat of the moment. Even after the incident was explained and accusations of racism discredited the left media continued to call TP’ers racist.

It’s a game out of the same old lefty playbook. Been going on for decades.

    • Pie Guevara says:

Libby justifies and defend violent harassment and intimidation. Why am I not surprised? It is just the sort of person she is — a leftist moron who thinks that anyone who disagrees with left wing group-think is pushing ***holes like her beyond “their comfort zones.”

It should happen you Libby, then how the little piggy would squeal.

      • Pie Guevara says:

        Pam Bondi Assaulted

Libby, THIS should happen to YOU. Then maybe you might rethink your pigheaded and moronic defense of such outrageous and unacceptable behavior. (Oh, just wishful thinking, Libby will always be a pigheaded moron no matter what.)

      • Libby says:

Dude, you are not in position to be outraged. As we speak every “Red Hen” … restaurant, grocery store, carpet cleaner and baby-sitting service … in the land is being subjected to, at the very least, right wing vitriol.

        So, just settle down.

Addressing the larger issue: our fraught social fabric is only getting frayed BECAUSE we on the left have commenced to exhibit behaviors you’ve been perpetration all along. And we have refrained, all this time, BECAUSE we know that heckling people in restaurants is rude, and evolved people do not do it.

But when is enough … ENOUGH?

And I cannot but be pleased that the: “oh, what can you expect from people like that?” contingent of our society … largely resigned to shrugging off a-hole behavior … has seemingly come to the point of … ENOUGH.

And now Chuck is remonstrating with Maxine, and energies will be turned into more productive means and methods, i.e., the mid-terms.

        • Tina says:

Libby you try to run from the responsibility of your parties activism but it is your activism that is the starting point for all of the ugly discord.

There will always be people who lose in a moment…your party operates in this mode as a tactic. It’s your parties intolerance of others and their different ideas that you will not bide and must destroy. Oh yes…we get the aim is to destroy!

We opposed Obama’s plans and ideas. We stood up to argue and debate the ideas. We even said he “should be” impeached in the cross talk. We didn’t organize to destroy. We believe in the process granted us in the Constitution.

Good question Libby, “When is it enough?”

When will your party stop being rude and crude? When will you stop bullying and harassing the opposition? If you want it to stop that’s what it will take.

“now Chuck is remonstrating with Maxine, and energies will be turned into more productive means and methods…”

You picked the wrong day to make that claim…ahem…“They’re not going to be able to go to a restaurant, they’re not going to be able to stop at a gas station, they’re not going to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them, they’re going to protest, they’re going to absolutely harass them.” – the lovely and gracious Maxine Waters.

As for Schummer, he did give Maxine a public talking to for her call to harassment day but just five days ago he admitted he’s unwilling to work on immigration cause he wants the issue for the elections.

The charade is over. Senator Chuck Schumer just proved that he’s using illegal-immigrant children as pawns to score political points rather than actually solve the longstanding border crisis.

          Lousy strategy.

        • Pie Guevara says:

Pardon me Lippy, but you are getting a bit off track, you horrid little harpy from left wing moron hell. I am not advocating violence, defending violence nor acting as an apologist for violence as YOU and your ilk are.

Furthermore advocating or doing anything to harm Red Hen restaurants and certainly not defending or advocating such. I think those misplaced actions are as asinine and wrong as your own. All I ever stated was that for that particular Red Hen a bunch of people wearing MAGA hats and t-shirts should enter the restaurant and peaceably wait for service to see what would happen.

So stick that in your craw, Lippy and shut up. That is unless you enjoy making a complete ass of yourself.

      Q. Did President Obama once say of Republicans: “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

A: Yes. Obama made those remarks at a fundraiser in Philadelphia during the 2008 presidential campaign. He was paraphrasing a quote from the 1987 mob movie “The Untouchables.”

  10. Peggy says:

It gets even worse. The owner of The Red Hen followed the Sanders family, minus Sarah and her husband, to another restaurant where the stood outside yelling at them while they tried to have dinner.

“After White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and her family were kicked out of a Virginia restaurant on Friday evening, the owner of the establishment followed the group and kept berating them, Mike Huckabee, Sanders’ father and the former Arkansas governor, told Fox Business on Monday.

“In fact, a little known part of this story, is that after Sarah and her husband left and the family relocated to a restaurant across the street, the owner of the Red Hen then organized an effort to go and scream at them from the sidewalk at the other restaurant,” Huckabee claimed in an interview on “The Intelligence Report with Trish Regan.”

“Finally, one of Sarah’s in-laws, who happens to be very liberal, it’s her brother-in-law, went out in the street and said, ‘Look, Sarah’s already left. She didn’t stay for obvious reasons. She’s had all she needs tonight. The rest of us are trying to have dinner. I’m a liberal. I’m not a Trump supporter. But you guys aren’t helping our cause,’” Huckabee went on to say. “So, it wasn’t just what happened in the Little Red Hen restaurant, it’s what happened ongoing by the owner of that restaurant.”
