High Speed Chases at the Border + Plus Cheats and Liars in Washington

Posted and written (mostly) by Jack

High Speed Chases at the Border + Plus Cheats and Liars in Washington, its all connected and if Washington can’t fix it – the American people need to step up and do it!

In yet another reason why we need better control over our border comes this report on smugglers trying to outrun the border cops.  Their fleeing vehicles are usually packed with illegals including children.  They pose a major problem to their own safety and to our police officers.

At speeds deemed by police to be very unsafe, our border police put their lives at risk every time they attempt to box in a reckless cartel smuggler ( as a last resort).  They will also try to use road spikes or use tactics like a pit maneuver that can spin a slow moving vehicle out of control. These are all risky to police and to those being pursued and with effective border control it could be avoided.

The coyote’s, as the cartel-connected smugglers are called, will initiate these dangerous high speed chases, even when they have unrestrained children inside, they don’t care about safety.  They are just ruthless smugglers and for them its all about the money…big money.

Their hapless passengers are packed into vehicles far beyond capacity and that weight makes them “ride low.” When the border patrol comes to their rescue they often find people screaming and banging from the insides of trunks to be let out.

Every nine days, on average, these chases end in a crash, 100% caused by cartel-smugglers trying to run thru check points.  This is a humanitarian crisis and a moral conundrum for the democrats who try to keep a steady supply of cheap labor coming into America.   One of these crashes caused a fire that spread over more than 20 acres. Another injured a dozen bystanders and six illegals, including a 6-year-old girl who wound up on life support thanks to her parents who put the child at grave risk.  Now the US taxpayers are caring for her.

In the last four years alone, along the U.S. side of the border, at least 250 people were injured and 22 died after a Border Patrol pursuit and it is getting worse.   It’s long past the  time that we needed to do something to fix this.  Democrats and some of their left of center republican allies should be ashamed to let this continue.

Experts say that if the legislators in Washington really wanted to fix this, it could be done in a week.  However, they haven’t come up with a solution in the last 20 years!  Instead of a fix, the public gets a bunch of partisan rhetoric, finger pointing and zero action.

This is a Congressional con-job that could only happen when they think their constituents are too stupid to notice.  And this  is perhaps the greatest tragedy of all – our legislators have in effect sold out America while putting their self interests ahead of the nation’s.

Almost all of your legislators, in the Senate and in the House have been playing partisan politics while they are lying to you, imagine that?

They tell us what a difficult problem it is to control our border, when in fact it is no such thing!  It’s actually easy to fix, but it takes both sides to have the political will to do it…and they don’t.

This might sound a little harsh, but in my mind we sent them to Washington to do a few simple things and they have failed and then lied about the reasons.  That makes them real close to being traitors, but at the very least, it makes them sound like incompetent liars underserving of their office. (All my opinion of course – you may feel differently)

If they can’t reform immigration laws and help to secure our border… if they can’t bring us a simplified income form that provides a little relief to American families making under $30k a year..if they can’t reform the healthcare system. if they can’t halt the horrible waste, fraud and abuse so rampant in D.C. WHAT IN THE HECK ARE THEY GOOD FOR?  Easy answer:  NOTHING.  Time to vote em all out and start over.

‘D.C. WHAT IN THE HECK ARE THEY GOOD FOR? Easy answer: NOTHING. Time to vote em all out and start over.’

Jack, a quote from Dave Thomas sums up a lot of what your attempting to point out.

“You can do what you want to do. You can be what you want to be. There’s no one to stop you but yourself.

So who or what is stopping the basic function of Governments protective role toward it’s legal citizens. Could it be as simple as these two actions?

Is it the fault of a political machine that favors hand outs verse a hand up, (Liberal just to be clear) and only seeks to be in control, or is it the fault of the entitlement people who granted them that power through the ballot box. How about both, since the voting recipients of hand outs are constantly told by liberal politicians that their likelihood of losing their free life style, should they vote for a conservative thinker. And who would want to give up a government based free hand out life style?

Legal government dependent voters, (and those here illegally that should not be voting), have created and gave up control of Americas safety by allowing people like Pelosi and Schumer to direct negative attention toward one individual, and away from their job requirements , or more likely their unwillingness to preform it properly to provide for Americans first.

Until we get rid of those types like Pelosi and company and install real leadership, it will just be the constant same crap, different day.

When Clowngress is in session and the weather is good, the various media reporters and camerapeople set up their sites on the lawn outside Clowngress. And it’s amazing to watch the Clowngressional chickens run back and forth between Chambers and the media circus tents to pontificate on whatever their agenda is. So much so that many spend more time with the media clowns than doing the people’s business!

Have said for years that those we elect to Clowngress should remain in their home state where they are accessible to those who elected them. They can vote, hold hearings, and have committee meetings via telecom. Just think of the $$ saved and cutting the BS that appears on the alphabet networks!!!!!!

The current Illegal Invasion is a direct result of Clowngress not doing its job for decades. A pox on both their houses!

Just read this article written about Obama, he has some valid points, only thing I thought it was limited and that he was directing it (so it appears) toward infighting in his own party.

Compromise is what is currently needed in DC, not only toward people in ones own party in the form of avoiding lockstep control, but that of openness toward opposing party ideas as well.

Sadly it appears to date the leadership of the House lacks this form of common sense. Pelosi and also Schumer only seem interested in stonewalling opposing ideas, and concentrate solely on their hate mongering of President Trump.

    DC needs a awaking

  4. Chris says:

” This is a humanitarian crisis”

    Yes. Thank you.

And a humanitarian crisis requires humanitarian solutions. “Tougher border enforcement” is not a humanitarian solution. The wall will cause more migrant deaths, including deaths of children.

Turns out Kristen Nielson was just fired by Trump because she wasn’t “tough” enough. Apparently she tried to explain to Trump that his draconian proposals were legally and practically unfeasible…and he didn’t want to hear it. Just as he didn’t want to hear why Jeff Sessions had to follow the law by recusing himself from the Mueller investigation, so he fired him the day after the midterms.

Nielson is the woman who infamously lied that “We have no family separation policy at the border…” a policy that resulted in children literally lost in the system. It will take years to reunite some of these families. And Nielson seems OK with that.

Doesn’t that make you wonder what Trump proposed that she *wasn’t* OK with?

    • Post Scripts says:

Chris, you must have an effective deterrent and that means a whole host of things from a wall to tougher laws for those employing illegals. The simple fact is, we can’t feed and house the worlds’ poor or we will be as broke as they are. Humanitarian efforts such as accepting everyone who claims they need asylum is overloading the system. Our laws are being used against us and we can’t allow that. But, if these hoards of migrants know they must go thru the immigration system like everyone else, perhaps they would not be so eager to try for an illegal border crossing?

If you disagree, please tell me what your border policy would be and how much would it cost us?

      • Chris says:

Jack, you can’t call it a “humanitarian and moral crisis” in one breath and then use terms like “hordes of migrants” in the next. Terms like that are being used to justify exactly the inhumane treatment that Trump just fired Nielsen for not fully implementing, plus a lot of inhumane policies she did implement.

If walking miles through the desert isn’t a “deterrent,” then there’s little we can do to deter. It’s time to accept that, like the drug war, attempts to stop people from coming here to look for a better life are doomed to fail. We need to focus on figuring ways to better channel, track, and integrate those that are coming here. Asylum seekers are only “overwhelming the system” because Trump intentionally weakened that system. This is a self-created crisis.

  5. Chris says:

Ms. Nielsen had been pressured by Mr. Trump to be more aggressive in stemming the influx of migrant crossings at the border, people familiar with their discussions in recent months said.

Her entire time in the job was spent batting back suspicion from the president, even as he told people he liked how she performed on television and enjoyed dealing with her personally. He initially was skeptical because of Ms. Nielsen’s previous service in the George W. Bush administration, and then because she was close to John F. Kelly, Mr. Trump’s former chief of staff.

The president called Ms. Nielsen at home early in the mornings to demand that she take action to stop migrants from entering the country, including doing things that were clearly illegal, such as blocking all migrants from seeking asylum. She repeatedly noted the limitations imposed on her department by federal laws, court settlements and international obligations.

Those responses only infuriated Mr. Trump further. The president’s fury erupted in the spring of 2018 as Ms. Nielsen hesitated for weeks about whether to sign a memo ordering the routine separation of migrant children from their families so that the parents could be detained…

In early 2019, as the number of migrant families from Central American countries surged, the president’s fury at Ms. Nielsen did, too. He repeatedly demanded that she cut off foreign aid to Central American countries even though the funding was the responsibility of the State Department. She repeatedly deflected his demands.

One day after Ms. Nielsen traveled to Honduras to sign a regional compact with officials from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, Mr. Trump cut State Department funding for the countries. And in recent days, the president made public moves to undercut her authority, leaking news that he might nominate an “immigration czar” to assume oversight of the issue at the heart of Ms. Nielsen’s department.

Still, Ms. Nielsen embraced the president’s “crisis” language as apprehensions of migrants at the border shot up to thousands per day. On Friday, Mr. Trump traveled with Ms. Nielsen and Mr. McAleenan to Calexico, Calif., to highlight the issue.

    A few inescapable conclusions here:

    1) The president is very stupid.
    2) The president still has no idea how the American system of law or government work.
    3) The president enjoys hurting people.

I am glad you see this as a humanitarian crisis, Jack. Now let’s take the next step and realize that this is not the fault of the left.

These people you want to let in have only the shirts on their backs.

Who is going to pay for their housing, healthcare, food, etc.?

How can this country afford millions of poor when it can’t even take care of the poor already in this country?

How much personally will YOU give to the poor coming into this country?

You liberals never address any of these questions and you call those who ask racists.

        • Chris says:

How can this country afford millions of poor when it can’t even take care of the poor already in this country?

A disingenuous question, because you and your ideological brethren don’t want to take care of the poor already in this country, and you only bring that up when you want an excuse for not taking care of others.

How much personally will YOU give to the poor coming into this country?

You liberals never address any of these questions and you call those who ask racists.

Because it’s another disingenuous question. Personal donations (which I have made) are irrelevant when it comes to collective government action.

          • Joe says:

            Hah!

Typical scum bag liberal, refuses to answer the tough questions, especially when they apply to themselves!

Now answer the questions! No excuses!

How can this country afford millions of poor when it can’t even take care of the poor already in this country?

How much personally will YOU give to the poor coming into this country?

          • Chris says:

We can and should do more to take care of the poor who are born here and immigrants who come here. I am not going to go into a detailed point by point plan with someone who just called me a “liberal scumbag,” because you wouldn’t listen to it, and you wouldn’t get it. But sufficed to say for the moment that we’d end up saving money in the long run by cutting down on deportations and expensive walls and from the economic benefit caused by immigration.

But again, you do not want the government to help the domestic poor and wouldn’t want that even if immigration were at zero, so your question is dishonest.

I donate monthly to a variety of causes, none of which are any of your business, and would happily pay a bit more in taxes for a stronger social safety net…which is why I vote for politicians who will raise my taxes for a stronger social safety net. Your attempts to find hypocrisy on my part are doomed to failure.

          • Joe says:

How do you know what I want ? Once again, you have no answers so you put words in people’s mouths.

How can you have open borders and a generous welfare state? How can the needs of millions of poor immigrants be paid for?

Do you acknowledge any limits on immigration? If so what are they? If not, you are nuts.

    • Post Scripts says:

Chris if that is an accurate article, and for now lets assume it is, then government is not working. Clearly, communication has broken down and it needs fixing ASAP. However, I really don’t think Trump enjoys hurting people, now that’s a bit of a stretch. I know this is not your literal side talking, you are just mad.

      • Chris says:

No, I am being very literal. Trump is cruel. He likes to humiliate and dominate others. This isn’t even a debatable position. The evidence for it is overwhelming. Look no further than his comments about John McCain and Barbara Bush after their deaths. He is a cruel, mean person. Admit it.

        • Pie Guevara says:

Re Chris: “No, I am being very literal. Trump is cruel. He likes to humiliate and dominate others. This isn’t even a debatable position. The evidence for it is overwhelming. No wonder Chris so hates Trump. THEY ARE EXACTLY ALIKE. Psychologists call this “projection.” Chris spends 99% of his writ in these pages insulting Jack and Tina and others who post here. The evidence for it is overwhelming. His cruel insults are meant to hurt and are as mean and low as mean an low get. This isn’t even a debatable position. Chris tries to dominate any conversation by hurling hateful hurtful slurs of bigotry, sexism, racism, and just about any ism at anyone who disagrees with his absolute progressive fascist views. These slurs are mean and intended to hurt.

          Uh, duh.

Fortunately, most of us know not to take Chris seriously about anything. He is a mean, arrogant ***hole — pure and simple — who trolls Post Scripts to vent his diseased spleen.

          • Chris says:

No. I do insult people here sometimes, but I do not do so to hurt anyone. I do it to make you think.

You are far more insulting to me than I am to anyone here, and with far less provocation. To hear you ramble on about “projection” is absurd.

A point in support of my contention: Nowhere did you actually rebut any of the evidence I presented that Trump is a cruel man who enjoys hurting people! You did not do that because you can’t, and you know you can’t. Trump’s unprovoked insults against Republicans alone are many and varied. My insults almost always come with a genuine rebuttal of the arguments presented. The rebuttals are also often obvious—hence the insults. In conversations where there is fair disagreement, I do not use insults—I only do so in response to outright lies or conspiracy theories.

I also haven’t insulted Tina in ages—she hasn’t even been around in months. Jack, do you still keep in touch with her? I hope she is well.

          • Post Scripts says:

Chris, Tina has moved to Idaho to escape the over taxation and regulation found in California. I’m hoping se will return to commenting and writing as soon as she is settled into her new home.

          • Chris says:

One more thing: that Pie thinks I often “dominate” others here is flattering, but inevitable. When you enter an argument with zero facts, evidence, or critical thinking skills, you are going to be dominated by those who do. The solution to that is to make better arguments.

Note that this is very different from Trump’s preferred form of dominance, which involves nothing insults and shouting, and absolutely zero facts, evidence, or critical thinking skills. I’d rather dominate the right way. How about you?

          • RHT447 says:

“However, I really don’t think Trump enjoys hurting people, ….”

And for how many seasons did “You’re Fired” run? Not only does he enjoy it, but all the people who voted for him are similarly disposed.

        • Libby says:

          … which is kinda sick-making.

        • Chris says:

The Washington Post reported this week that the president was prepared to fire Nielsen last fall, but she “appeared to regain her footing” after U.S. Border Patrol agents used tear gas against migrants at the border. It was, the article added, the sort of “tough” action Trump liked to see.

It’s against this backdrop that the president participated in a roundtable discussion yesterday in Texas, where he raised a provocative point about the kind of policies he’d like to see at the border.

“I’m going to have to call up more military. Our military, don’t forget, can’t act like a military would act – because if they got a little rough, everybody would go crazy. So our military can’t act like they would normally act or like, let’s say, another military from another country would act.”

Trump is describing a dynamic in which desperate families, many of whom have fled their homes in desperation, literally running from life-threatening violence, should be subjected to treatment from the U.S. military that’s “a little rough.”

The president has shown restraint in this area, not because he’s concerned with morality, because he doesn’t want to deal with the political blowback.

Indeed, listening to the clip, Trump’s frustrations are palpable. In his mind, the United States has the world’s mightiest fighting force, and he’s struggling to understand why he can’t order the armed forces to get “rough” – which is to say, violent – with desperate families seeking asylum.

Responding to the president’s comments, former Defense Secretary William Perry wrote, “The U.S. Armed Forces are not hired thugs to be used to ‘rough up’ non-violent civilians for political games, and expressing the desire to utilize them as such disrespects the dignity and honor of our men and women in uniform.”

Trump has never fully understood the military or the role of the commander in chief. He still doesn’t.

          http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/trump-frustrated-the-military-cant-get-rough-asylum-seekers

This echoes the president’s public comments to police officers in which he suggested they should intentionally hit the heads of suspects while they were arresting them. In other words, advocating police brutality. The president has also publicly endorsed torture.

I repeat: the president likes hurting people. He wishes he could hurt people more than he currently does. He is vocally, publically upset that he can’t hurt people more. Failure to accept this is a failure to accept reality. But that’s how Trump won.

        • Chris says:

This is both hilarious and kind of disturbing in how it reveals what this administration thinks the purpose of government is:

Here’s a Trump White House immigration gambit that likely will shock, but not surprise you. The Trump administration, the Washington Post reported Thursday, came up with a cartoonishly villainous plan and then pressured immigration officials to carry out the Trumpian scheme of arresting undocumented migrants coming into the country and then busing them and releasing them on the streets of so-called sanctuary cities. The aim? Retaliation, of course, against political enemies and for not treating undocumented families like criminals.

          https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2019/04/white-house-trump-stephen-miller-ice-bus-undocumented-immigrant-sanctuary-cities.html

Releasing undocumented immigrants to own the libs!

Y’all elected President Wile E. Coyote.

      • Chris says:

During a guided tour of Mount Vernon last April with French president Emmanuel Macron, Trump learned that Washington was one of the major real-estate speculators of his era. So, he couldn’t understand why America’s first president didn’t name his historic Virginia compound or any of the other property he acquired after himself.

“If he was smart, he would’ve put his name on it,” Trump said, according to three sources briefed on the exchange. “You’ve got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you.”

The VIPs’ tour guide for the evening, Mount Vernon president and CEO Doug Bradburn, told the president that Washington did, after all, succeed in getting the nation’s capital named after him. Good point, Trump said with a laugh…

…The president’s disinterest in Washington made it tough for tour guide Bradburn to sustain Trump’s interest during a deluxe 45-minute tour of the property which he later described to associates as “truly bizarre.” The Macrons, Bradburn has told several people, were far more knowledgeable about the history of the property than the president.

A former history professor with a PhD, Bradburn “was desperately trying to get [Trump] interested in” Washington’s house, said a source familiar with the visit, so he spoke in terms Trump understands best — telling the president that Washington was an 18th century real-estate titan who had acquired property throughout Virginia and what would come to be known as Washington, D.C.

Trump asked whether Washington was “really rich,” according to a second person familiar with the visit. In fact, Washington was either the wealthiest or among the wealthiest Americans of his time, thanks largely to his mini real estate empire.

“That is what Trump was really the most excited about,” this person said.

If Trump was impressed with Washington’s real estate instincts, he was less taken by Mount Vernon itself, which the first president personally expanded from a modest one-and-a-half story home into an 11,000 square foot mansion. The rooms, Trump said, were too small, the staircases too narrow, and he even spotted some unevenness in the floorboards, according to four sources briefed on his comments. He could have built the place better, he said, and for less money…

…Many Americans don’t fare much better than the president when it comes to a knowledge of the basic facts of American history — and one person close to the White House said the president’s supporters aren’t bothered by the fact that he isn’t a history buff.

“His supporters don’t care, and if anything they enjoy the fact that the liberal snobs are upset” that he doesn’t know much history, this person said.”

        https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/10/donald-trump-mount-vernon-george-washington-1264073

I’ll repeat: All presidents have had flaws. Trump has all of them. He is ignorant, incurious, petty, selfish, vain, and mean. Voting for him was a rejection of decency, facts, intelligence, and sanity, and following him now remains the same. And no rational policy disagreement or character assessment of Hillary Clinton can change those facts, or justfiy that choice, nor will any disagreement or character assessment of whoever the 2020 Democratic nominee will be.

Obviously, the ONLY way to save children’s lives (if you buy into CATO’s statistical references, I question them) is to have a completely open border.

Hey, now there is a concept! Gee, like American citizens did not know what you and your ilk were all about, Chris.

What you and CATO fail to take into account is that open border policies attracted these folks to to drag along innocent children to come here to begin with. No doubt you approve of this massive sanctuary scam that abuses children. Drag along a kid, pass GO and collect $200.

Democrats voted for walls several years ago. What changed them? Trump. If illegal aliens voted Republican you can be sure that Democrats would be out laying bricks.

Sorry kid, but if the border were secured and laws changed, the lives of children would not be at risk because illegal immigrants would realize that using children to scam their way into the US no longer works.

Stick to yer bubble, bubble boy. I could not care less.

We don’t have open border policies, so this is a lie.

            “Democrats voted for walls”

Walls. Plural. If there’s no difference between those walls and the massive wall Trump wants to build, then I guess we don’t need to build Trump’s massive wall, do we?

If there is a difference, and Trump’s wall proposal is better than what we already have, then why are you accusing the Democrats of hypocrisy for supporting different policies than the president currently supports?

(Taking apart your arguments is getting too easy…I know you can do better.)

I haven’t linked to Media Matters, Salon, or Huffington in years. I don’t know what CPUSA is. Cato is hardly a left-wing source, so weird you’d make this argument here; doesn’t that show I don’t live in a “bubble?”

You’re right again Pie and the people who live on the border tell our very caring president how bad it is, The inhumane liberals don’t care and want more to travel north no matter how many thousand more die along the way.

Donald Trump Deeply Moved by Border Crisis Stories from Texas Landowners:

“President Donald Trump surprised reporters by inviting them into a roundtable with supporters to talk about the crisis on the Southern border during a campaign event in Texas.

The group of supporters met with the president in San Antonio, Texas, but agreed to speak to the media about the problems on the border.

Trump appeared deeply moved by stories about the border crisis after speaking with Texas landowners, who told him about migrants and illegal immigrants dying in the desert after smugglers dropped them off at the border.

One supporter explained how human smuggler “coyotes” preyed on illegals and migrants on the border sending them through brush country with a gallon of water toward cities too far away to survive.

“We have numerous people dying on these ranches, and people have been finding their bodies for a number of years,” he said.

Other families, he said, were forced to leave their homes at times when the activity got too violent.

Trump expressed surprise by the stories.

“Nobody’s ever told me this, this doesn’t come out in the fake news, and this doesn’t come out in the press,” he said.

The president said that he had no idea the border climate was so bad.

He recalled stories of ranchers and people on the border who told him that they had to stop going out at night, had to carry guns and stop traveling alone as the area got more dangerous.

“They’re not good guys,” he said. He recalled that he used to be able to feed starving people crossing the border with the concept of “mi casa su casa” but that the people had become more dangerous.

“They were saying, the people coming from much further away, they’re sending real killers, including MS-1, because they don’t want them in Honduras and El Salvador and Guatemala, they don’t want the gangs, so they’re sending them to our country.

One supporter urged the media to go to Brooks County, noting that over 1,000 dead bodies could be documented in the last 5-7 years, including the elderly, children, and pregnant women.

“They don’t care about these people, and the Democrats never talk about the humanitarian crisis not just on our side of the border, protecting our citizens, but these poor people who are subjugated to these gangsters, these cartels, who are bringing these people here, charging them thousands’s of dollars and leaving them to die,” he said.

Trump expressed surprise at the concerns expressed by his supporters, noting that this was the first time he was hearing these kinds of stories.

One supporter reminded Trump and the media that they were comfortable with life in a multi-cultural and bi-racial climate like Texas, as they had many friends and family from Mexico.

Trump thanked his supporters for choosing to talk to the media, marveling at the horrors of the border crisis. He acknowledged that he was originally participating in a campaign event, but felt that the media should hear their stories.

“I couldn’t care less about the campaign, this is not a campaign, this is now about people, this is about telling the truth,” he said. “We got to do something about this.”

The president urged the media to cover more of the stories like those related by his supporters.

“It’s really bad. You really should cover it right. This has nothing to do with politics, this has nothing to do with campaigning or my campaign … these people said it better than anybody else could say it because they have to live it,” Trump said.”

Ah, what a generous, compassionate person, who is in no way using isolated tragedies to build a narrative of demonizing immigrants and journalists.

You are hopeless. This is cult-member like derangement.
