Rep. Illa Omar Comments Draw Fire From Democrats and Republicans

By Jack

Freshman Representative Illa Omar-D drew fire for saying she is tired of being treated like a 2nd class citizen because she is from Somalia and she’s a Muslim.  She inferred that America is a racist country because in her mind all Muslims are being treated like 2nd class citizens.   Incredibly nobody in the mainstream media thought to ask her, if this is true how did she win election to Congress?

Recently Omar said while speaking before CAIR that it was created as a response to 9/11 and all the hatred that followed against Muslim-Americans.  Actually CAIR was created in 1994 and it has given support to Hamas.   CAIR had close ties with the Obama administration that also favored the Muslim Brotherhood.   CAIR was also one of 82 groups designated terrorist organizations by the United Arab Emirates.  CAIR has been allegedly linked to Hamas.

Rep. Omar also falsely accused Covington Catholic students at the March For Life event for being hateful bigots.  A reporter asked her, “You did accuse them of racism, do you owe them an apology for that?”  Omar immediately walked away and refused to answer the question.  Nice, huh?

She made headlines for asking Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison to investigate USA Powerlifting over a decision to bar transgender women from competition because gender differences is a “myth.”  Gender differences has nothing to do with bigotry, however it is a crazy thing to say because its a widely accepted biological fact backed up hard, irrefutable science.  Makes me wonder what other stupidity she believes.  Oh, wait, here’s an example of just that:

Omar has attacked White House senior adviser Stephen Miller, calling him a white nationalist.  Last week she was telling Newsweek she believes he wants America to have “one particular racial identity.”  A white nationalist?  She is so clueless and confused.

Omar  has been chastised by Speaker Pelosi and her own party for making anti-Semitic remarks regarding our support for Israel.

When a loser like Omar can be elected to Congress and serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, you know this country is “off the rails.”

One Response to Rep. Illa Omar Comments Draw Fire From Democrats and Republicans

  1. Chris says:

Her name is Ilhan, not Illa.

I have mixed feelings about Omar and she has said a lot of tone-deaf things, but I don’t think a lot of the arguments against her here are entirely fair.

I don’t think that question is very illustrative. There are very few Muslims in Congress, and clearly they face some obstacles that Christian Americans do not. There are lots of Jews in Congress and other halls of power in America, but would you really use that to argue that anti-Semitism isn’t a problem in America?

Recently Omar said while speaking before CAIR that it was created as a response to 9/11 and all the hatred that followed against Muslim-Americans. Actually CAIR was created in 1994 and it has given support to Hamas. CAIR had close ties with the Obama administration that also favored the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR was also one of 82 groups designated terrorist organizations by the United Arab Emirates. CAIR has been allegedly linked to Hamas.

The UAE has no credibility, and it’s designation of CAIR as a terrorist organization is a joke. That was made entirely for internecine political reasons.

Rep. Omar also falsely accused Covington Catholic students at the March For Life event for being hateful bigots. A reporter asked her, “You did accuse them of racism, do you owe them an apology for that?” Omar immediately walked away and refused to answer the question. Nice, huh?

Eh. I think people are still seeing different things in those clips. There was another video of those boys harassing a woman. I think it’s reasonable to conclude those boys were bigots. The MAGA hat alone has become a pretty powerful symbol of bigotry.

Gender differences exist, though I’m not sure that’s a reason to ban transwomen from competing. I have mixed feelings on that. But her belief here pales in comparison to the president’s choice to ban trans people from serving in the military in any capacity. That cannot be justified by the existence of gender differences, since both men and women can serve in all sorts of roles. It’s just unjustified bigotry. Whether it’s the president’s own bigotry or his attempt to appeal to Evangelicals is irrelevant; he is denying a whole class of people the ability to serve our country for no evidence-based reason, and every American should be disgusted by that.

Oh, wait, here’s an example of just that:

Omar has attacked White House senior adviser Stephen Miller, calling him a white nationalist. Last week she was telling Newsweek she believes he wants America to have “one particular racial identity.” A white nationalist? She is so clueless and confused.

Stephen Miller is a white nationalist.

Omar has been chastised by Speaker Pelosi and her own party for making anti-Semitic remarks regarding our support for Israel.

Yes, and rightly so. Why have Republicans not done the same to their party leader, Donald Trump? Just this weekend he referred to Netanyahu as “your prime minister” to a group of American Jews—a far greater accusation of dual loyalty than anything Omar has said. And that’s a merely an addition to a whole host of things he’s said which invoked anti-Semitic tropes in ways similar to Omar’s comments. I posted about that a while back, and no conservative here responded.

I am proud to see my side holding people like Omar accountable when they mess up. Why can’t yours do the same?

Omar was the victim of death threats by a man who was arrested this week who wanted her dead for being a Muslim in Congress. This man practically worships Trump. Where is the post about Trump’s role in stoking anti-Muslim paranoia?

When a loser like Omar can be elected to Congress and serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, you know this country is “off the rails.”

Our president is a man who ran on the idea of banning people like Omar from immigrating here on the basis of religion. Where are your priorities?
