A Dear Friend Has Passed

by Jack

I was just told a dear friend passed in the night. He was a patriot extraordinaire, a leader in local and state politics, always involved, always standing up for what he knew was right. He was a good Christian man of deep faith, with a passion for life and politics.

He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer almost a year ago. Back then, and despite the terrible news, he told me he didn’t fear death because he knew his name was written in the book of lambs. Throughout his ordeal, he continued to be part of the good fight and to do his duty as he saw it with his last ounce of energy. He remained true to his principles and showed great courage right till the end. He was my dear friend, Pete Weber. Good-bye Pete, my most sincere condolences to his wife Lee and his wonderful family. He will be missed.

Second Debate – A Setback for Romney

by Jack

And it started off so good…. Candy Crowley looked like she was fully prepared to avoid the mistakes of former debate moderators, then she did the unthinkable, in the middle of the debate she corrected Mitt Romney and sided with Barack Obama! And this caused many in the audience to applaud her, then this morphed quickly into what appeared to be an applause for Obama. This was a serious breach of the rules and it made me think that the democrats had penetrated the debate.

For those of you who missed this embarrassing moment, one that will surely go down in debate history as a colossal blunder, let me tell you the whole story:

The question from the audience was to Obama, who was responsible for not beefing up security at the Benghazi embassy prior to the 9/11 attack?

6957-BO564-thumb-470x322-6956.jpg

Obama side stepped a direct answer and used this time to illustrate the great sorrow he felt, about his heavy responsibilities, all to evoke sympathy. Obama eventually got around to saying the Benghazi attack was “an act of terror” and he said so the very next day during a statement in the Rose Garden. This was a total distortion of what he really said.

This was just the kind of gross deception Romney needed to expose Obama and he was fully prepared to take him down, until Candy Crowley came to Obama’s rescue.

Romney: “You said in the Rose Garden the day after the attack, it was an act of terror. It was not a spontaneous demonstration, is that what you’re saying?… I want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in Benghazi an act of terror… The administration indicated this was a reaction to a video and was a spontaneous reaction…”

Obama fired back without hesitation, “Get the transcript!”

Then Ms. Crowley inserted herself into this testy exchange and she did the inexecusable…she corrected Romney and said she recalled that he did call it an act of terror. This blunted his attack and turned a gotcha moment into a total disaster. Romney was flustered. Crowley made him look uninformed and foolish.

Not to miss an opportunity to drive the point home Obama responded, “Could you say that a little louder Candy!” And she did. “He did call it an act of terror” and then she tried to offer Romney a bone of consolation when she said, “It did as well take about two weeks or so out there, for there to be a write up about this tape…” Now she sounded flustered, possibly just realizing what she had done. The damage was there and it seemed like Romney never quite recovered from being totally blindsided by the moderator. Who knew she was another follower of the Messiah?

Obama did say in the Rose Garden speech, “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation,” this was a generalized sort of comment and of course democrats are going to say critics are parsing words…that was close enough. However, it was not an acknowledgement that we had been hit in a full on terrorist attack on 9/11. And Obama went on to say something about the video that his administration was claiming started it all, “We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others.” As you may know, the administration eventually admitted it was a terror attack linked to al Qaeda sympathizers.

The following is Obama’s speech and you can read it and see for yourself.

Mrs. Clinton Takes the Blame – President Still Not Excused

6954-Hclinton782-thumb-224x230-6953.jpg

WASHINGTON: The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, said she accepted responsibility for what happened in last month’s attack on a US diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, that killed the American ambassador.

Mrs Clinton said, ”I take responsibility . . . I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha,” Mrs Clinton said on CNN’s OutFront program.

The Libya attack has emerged as an issue in the US presidential race, with the Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, and fellow Republicans saying the Obama administration failed to secure the facility before the attack and painted a false picture of it afterwards.

Three Republican senators on the Armed Services Committee called Mrs Clinton’s acceptance of responsibility a ”laudable gesture” while criticizing the White House for not doing the same.

”The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief,” senators John McCain, of Arizona, Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina, and Kelly Ayotte, of New Hampshire, said. ”The buck stops there.”

————————–

The president’s job is to protect America from all threats, foreign and domestic. It’s why he has a daily security briefing on terrorism. When the USA placed an embassy in Libya everyone knew there were security risks. When it fell into revolution the security risks became acute, extra attention was needed! When new, and untested regime took over, fresh from civil war, security should have been the first concern on everyone’s mind from the President on down. A successful attack on a US embassy now would be a political disaster for Obama, why wouldn’t he be paying attention?

All we know for sure at this moment is the security at Benghazi was no where near adequate. We also know the White House told the wrong story about a riot being the cause and continued to tell that false story for many days after the truth was known.

Many questions remain unanswered.

The High Cost of World War II – Great Pictures and Facts

Absolutely amazing (American) World War 2 statistics and photos. I have always known that aircrew had the highest fatality rate but the loss rate (and cost of war) detailed below is absolutely horrific.

If you live for facts and statistics, this is just for you…

No matter how one looks at it, these are incredible statistics. Aside from the figures on aircraft, consider this statement from the article: On average 6600 American service men died per MONTH, during WWII (about 220 a day) – – – – – –

Most Americans who were not adults during WWII have no understanding of the magnitude of it. This listing of some of the aircraft facts gives a bit of insight to it.

276,000 aircraft manufactured in the US .
43,000 planes lost overseas, including 23,000 in combat.
14,000 lost in the continental U.S.

The US civilian population maintained a dedicated effort for four years, many working long hours seven days per week and often also volunteering for other work. WWII was the largest human effort in history.

Some more amazing facts at the end of the photos…

WWII MOST-PRODUCED COMBAT AIRCRAFT
Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik 36,183

Military Votes Should Be Given Priority Care

6920-military-officer-1.jpg

Posted by Tina

We ask men and women of the military to be prepared to defend our nation at a moments notice.

In today’s dangerous world many of them are in foreign countries putting their lives at risk right now. Shouldn’t every state in America make sure that these serving citizens have every opportunity to vote and shouldn’t our government make certain in an election year that ballots are sent out in a timely fashion as the law requires?

Breitbart posted a letter from three republican representatives regarding states that have failed to meet requirements for sending absentee ballots to military personnel:

Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee; Rep. Daniel E. Lungren, R-Calif., chairman of the House Administration Committee; and Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to the Defense and Justice departments reading:

“We are concerned that, absent prompt and effective remedial action, some men and women in uniform will be deprived of the 45-day window to vote guaranteed by the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act. While implementation and enforcement of the MOVE Act appear on course as an improvement over the poor performance we saw in the 2010 elections, we are concerned about the currently reported shortcomings. If any element of local, state or federal government does not abide by the MOVE Act, the result should not ever be the disenfranchisement of any member of the armed services.”

The congressmen stated that the jurisdictions responsible should extend the deadline for accepting military and overseas ballots by the same number of days as the ballots were mailed late. The congressmen also asked Defense Department officials whether they have established installation voting assistance offices where they are required. It is the service branches’ responsibility to establish these offices.

According to the article: “Vermont, Michigan, Mississippi and Wisconsin have failed to mail absentee ballots to military members by the Sept. 22, 2012, deadline established by the MOVE Act.” If true these jurisdictions should face some kind of consequences for failing to uphold the law.

Military members deserve our continuing respect and assistance. Their votes should be given top priority attention and care!

What A Dumb Move – See the Video

You may have heard this story before because it is an older news item, but I’m glad this video is making the rounds. I hope that Chair women is thoroughly embarrassed by it.

The Democrat’s Chair lady compounded her flag ignorance with stupidity when she threatened to call the police on VFW vets who wanted to remove the Obama flag from her flag pole because it was a desecration of the flag they fought for. She didn’t get it and stood her ground. She said she would call the police on these patriotic veterans – people we recognize as our finest citizens, who literally fought for our freedom and they were disrespected by this woman.

This Chair woman’s behavior towards these veterans of foreign wars is hard to understand, but I suspect it’s because this lady never served. When these wonderful old guys come calling, with their VFW caps and they are all pretty upset, prudence says listen to them! They deserve to be heard and they are here for a good reason. Only a stupid person with incredibly poor judgement would get defensive and threaten to call to the police. What a sorry example of democrat leadership. Disgusting… absolutely disgusting!

Evil Profits, Evil Corporations, Government Subsidies and Looney Tunes

6919-tesla motors elon musk DiFei .jpg

by Tina Grazier

What do progressive liberals gripe about incessantly?

Corporate profits and subsidies!

In 2011 protesters (the 99%) occupied in the streets for weeks railing against the wealthy 1% and big corporations. Profits, they claimed, are obscene and corporations, are pure evil! Government giving subsidies to big corporations was likewise evil…and likely a republican conspiracy to take from the poor and give to the rich. Democrats and unions came out in support of this movement and their anti-corporate, anti-profits rants. After initially endorsing the movement as grassroots Nancy Pelosi cautiously said the following:

“I support the message to the establishment, whether it’s Wall Street or the political establishment, that things have to change.”

But have they changed?

President Obama enthusiastically handed out taxpayer cash to a number of green energy companies during his nearly four year term as president. Many of the companies we subsidized have gone out of business; others created green jobs in China and India. These companies couldn’t make it without government subsidies and, as it turns out, most couldn’t make it even with subsidies. They represent a terrible waste of taxpayer money.

What about subsidies given out in California government?

Progressives in California government support the message of the 99%…but they are also looney tunes for green energy development and solutions. Politically, these bureaucrats work against corporate America. So…why did the State of California Energy Commission just award Tesla Motors, builder of elite electric cars, $10 Million dollars?

According to an article posted at Cal Watchdog the money was needed “to pay for machinery at its Fremont plant.” But the article (link below) also states the tax money will be used to “add 500 workers”. Hmmmm…do they really need the money?

If you’re a taxpayer in California you will not be surprised by this award. We Californians have become accustomed to the nutty people that run our state. But we should at least be aware and know a few things that are revealed in the article Calif. Throws subsidy at Tesla Motors,” by Joseph Perkins:

1. The owner of Tesla Motors is a billionaire. ($2.4 Billion)

2. The company just raised $200 Million from a second stock offering.

3. The company will make cars that only the wealthy will buy ($60-$100 thousand)

4. The State of California will pay for this subsidy by placing a surcharge on our vehicle registrations and through smog check fees.

Not surprised or shocked, but I am damn mad!

Businesses are struggling or leaving the state because our leaders are so completely oblivious. Californians are struggling to make ends meet because of the Presidents non-recovery recovery, high unemployment, and very high gasoline and food prices…yet this government expects the people to pay for this $10 Million subsidy to a billionaire! Why?

The only thing I can comne up with is that the progressives in California place the infinitesimally minor improvements that this car maker might one day make possible to the quality of the air above the immediate fiscal problems we face individually and in government today. Their fantasy green agenda continues even in the face of reports that the warming hype was greatly exaggerated and that the warming trend ended 16 years ago.

The elites in the green arm of the Democrat Party are completely bereft of common sense or ethical sensibilities…and totally out of touch with the average citizen paying the bills. It may be that some subsidies make sense because they benefit the entire country or state by encouraging job creation everywhere in the nation. But subsidies like the one California has awarded Tesla Motors just don’t make any sense.
