LIES AND SPIN

The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled kill him when presidential hopeful Barack Obamas name was mentioned during Tuesdays Sarah Palin rally are unfounded. The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. *** The reporter, David Singleton, was the only person the Secret Service could find that heard the man shout “kill him,” and the reporter could not provide a description of the man. – Times Leader (Wilkes-Barre, PA)

About Whore Houses and Government

From Tinman….

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it.

They failed and it closed!

Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of politicians who couldn’t make money running a whore house and selling booze? Oh my…..!

Bargain Stocks with High Yields and High Growth Potential Offer Investors Hope

by Jack

Are you looking for a place to park some cash and get a high yield while this housing debacle sorts itself out? Here are a few ideas that you might want to take a look at, these are in my opinion about as good as any:

FAlling stock prices have pushed yields (dividends) sky high. Obviously many of these utra high yeilds will eventually be adjusted if the stock price doesn’t recover but they still pose a compelling opportunity to seek out gems that have staying power and offer a good return. I like PBKS (bank) with modest and recetnly adjusted yield of just 5.5% and a nice growth potential. I am hoping to get 40% return on investment on this one. ACAS (financial) yield 31%! if you just collect a few dividends you got your money back. Lot of insider buying too and that’s usually a good sign. BAC ( B of A) yield is 6.13%, growth potential high. GMXRP (US Oil and gas) yield is 13.1%. PVX yield is 25.49%!!! (Canadian Oil Trust) MPW (medical properties) yield is 14% with low debt, SXL yield 9.72% good upside potential. TLP yield is 13.33% rated a buy by several big analysts. Due your own due diligence, I am only pointing out a few companies that I believe have some great potential and offer a nice place to park money for a good return. Disclaimer: I own PBKS, PVX, ACAS and BAC.

The Arrogant Left

The arrogannt suggestion:

The next president will be elected on Nov. 4, but will not take office until Jan. 20. Normally, this lag time is not an issue. But with the financial system in meltdown, the ”real” economy threatening to follow,… *** (blah blah blah) *** Assume that Barack Obama wins the election, as polls show is increasingly likely. The following day, Vice President Cheney should be prevailed upon to resign. Using his powers to designate a successor under the 25th Amendment, President Bush should then appoint, and Congress should confirm, Obama as vice president – Richard S. Tedlow & David Ruben, Boston Globe

This snippet from the Boston Globe says it all…for heavens sake…there is a transition process that has always worked (except during the ridiculous hanging chad debacle) and will also work this time. In fact it will probably work exceptionally well since GWB will make sure the transition is both smooth and thorough. Which is much more than the Clinton administration and (the chad counting) Al Gore did for him.

Frances War

We have been fortunate. We have escaped further attacks on American soil. Its enough to make one complacent. The threat seems far away, impersonal. It doesnt hurt to remind ourselves that terror threats continue. England announced today that there are many threats, theyve gone to a severe alert status. The following article punctuates the reality of this new kind of war that we must accept as a continuing real and present danger in our modern world. Follow the link and scroll down to read the entire article.

France’s War with Jihadis, by Walid Phares

* In the Western debate on how best to counter the rise and expansion of the Jihadi movement, particularly the Salafists, within liberal democracies, European experiences are important because of the sheer numbers of militants and the dissemination within many urban areas. France’s counter terrorism experiences are one among these learning processes for all other European Govenrment but also for North American CT planning as well. In an article I published in the Middle East Times today I commented on France’s Interior Minister remarks on the state of confrontation with the Jihadists. In a recent series of seminars in Paris, which I will report about on CTB, I also interacted with a number of French legislators and CT officials dealing with the French involvement in Afghanistan and the Sahel. In short, France is heading towards “increasing engagement with al Qaeda on two continents, Asia and Africa, as well as at home. *

We aren’t alone in this fight and we need to be prepared for whatever comes next. Please vote wisely.

Obama Tax Cut = Spending Increase?

I found the article below from CNSNews very informative. It explains in terms anyone can understand how Senator Obamas tax plan works. It moves beyond words and gets into specific, practical application. When you consider that the Bush tax cuts will expire in 2010 (along with his incresed per child deduction) this plan means that many of us will be hit pretty hard by the Senators tax proposals in his first term.

Please read the entire article. If you have concerns about our economy and, more importantly, your own fragile back pocket, youll want the information this article provides before you vote…after would be a disaster!

Obamas Tax Cut is Actually a Spending Increase, Says Non-Partisan Group, by Matt Cover

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obamas plan to cut taxes on 95 percent of taxpayers would effectively increase government spending by an average of $64.8 billion a year and effectively raise income tax rates for many Americans, even on some earning $20-$50,000 per year, according to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center. *** The heart of Obamas tax cut proposal is in his use of refundable tax credits, which the Center describes as credits available to eligible households even if they have no income tax liability — in short, refunds available even to those who dont pay taxes.
