One Great Cop Can Make A Big Difference for Children

by Roger Phillips

I spent more than three hours Friday with our first police truancy officer Ken Lee. It was enlightening and, frankly, it was disturbing.

Most disturbing of all was the case of a 13-year-old boy — I’ll call him Johnny — I saw at the beginning and end of my time with Lee.

At the beginning of the day, Lee was following up on a case he’s been dealing with in recent weeks. It seems Johnny’s mother had never registered him for school this year. During his previous visit, the mother had told Lee she was planning on registering him in the county office of education’s One alternative program. It seems Johnny was expelled from XXXXX Elementary during the school year last year.

Michelle’s Boot Camps For Radicals, by Investors Business Daily

Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas. They plan to herd American youth into government-funded reeducation camps where they’ll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of “social change.”

A Tale of Two Michelles

By Michelle Malkin, Columnist

Like Michelle Obama, I am a “woman of color.” Like Michelle Obama, I am a working mother of two young children. Like Michelle Obama, I am a member of the 13th generation of Americans born since the founding of our great nation.

Unlike Michelle Obama, I can’t keep track of the number of times I’ve been proud – really proud – of my country sinc e I was born and privileged to live in it. At a recent speech in Milwaukee on behalf of her husband’s Democratic presidential campaign, Mrs Obama remarked, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Mrs. Obama’s statement was met with warm applause from other Barack supporters who have also apparently been devoid of pride in their country during their adult lifetimes. Or maybe it was just a Pavlovian response to the word “change.” What a sad, empty, narcissistic, ungrateful, unthinking lot!

When Race Doesnt Matter

Posted by Tina

Sometimes a single sentence speaks volumes:

St. Paul, Minn. Thirty-six. Thats how many black delegates are reportedly at the Republican National Convention this week. Lorraine Marshall of Las Vegas is one of them. She is the only black delegate in the Nevada delegation. But she doesnt feel alone. As she takes her seat among the 2,380 delegates, she sees only those who share her values and show her kindness, she says. She doesnt look through the prism of race here. Las Vegas Sun

Soon there will be a lot more Lorraine Marshall’s in Republican circles.

Democrats Pass Driver’s Licenses for Illegals

In a flurry of last minute activity, the California Senate and Assembly have each passed SB 60, the bill that would give driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. It now goes to the Governor.

In local news it was reported today that Pablo Vargas, 27, allegedly made five attempts to run down two females with his car after a dispute. In addition to ADW charges he was booked for being DUI and driving without a license.

Kent Boone, 33, a father of five from Antioch, California, was killed by a drunk driving, illegal alien, Isidro Pena Soto. Soto was traveling at an estimated 90 miles per hour in a Ford Expedition when he crossed a double yellow line to pass another vehiclehe had no license and no insurance.

Alfredo Ramos, 22, illegal alien from Mexico slammed his vehicle into the car driven by Allison Kunhardt, 17, she and her best friend Tessa Tranchant, 16, were killed instantly. Ramos sustained minor injuries. Friends say he ignored warnings he was too drunk to drive. For more on this story see video…
It was his 3rd conviction.

Illegal alien Edwardo Morales-Soriano, 25, of Mexico. rlammed his Nissan Sentra into a car waiting at a stoplight, killing a U.S. Marine and his female passenger, it was determined his BA was four times the legal level for intoxication

ILLEGAL ALIEN, Mario Cadena, was arrested for drunk driving and for driving without a license, and was NOT deported. In 2003, illegal alien, Mario Cadena, was arrested again for drunk driving and STILL WAS NOT DEPORTED. On April 29, 2008, the illegal alien was DRUNK AGAIN when he drove on a suspended license, obtained with a fake social security number and KILLED Stephen Hough, 26, of Merrillville; Amy Bartelmey, 25, of Hobart and Garry Weiss, 53, both of Crown Point. All died, including the illegal alien.

8-7-08 Olga Marina Franco, an illegal alien from Guatemala, was convicted this week in the death of Jesse Javens, 13, and three other children (including Jesse Javens brother). Franco’s vehicle allegedly ran a stop sign and hit a bus killing the four children near Cottonwood, Minnesota.

Since the 2004 start of the Iraq War more Americans have been killed in the 50 states by illegal aliens than have lost their lives in Iraq. According to news article at least 6 Americans die each day as a direct result of illegal aliens.

Remember this when you hear undocumented immigrants are not criminals. Ask them to explain if this is true then why are10% of California’s prisoners also illegal aliens?

Standards Matter

At least 500 California high schools met this year’s federal academic targets that were released this morning only because the state uses easier standards for high schools than for elementary and middle schools, a Times analysis has found. But even with this boost, only 48% of the state’s high schools met the federal standard of “adequate yearly progress” in this year’s results. LA Times

Please notice the word “adequate”. Adequate is a product of low expectation. Why do we not shoot for excellence?

Abu Ghraib Museum

BAGHDAD – The notorious Abu Ghraib prison is getting a facelift: work to reopen the facility and construct a museum documenting Saddam Hussein’s crimes but not the abuses committed there by U.S. guards. *** “There is evidence of the crimes (Saddam committed) such as the hooks used to dangle prisoners, tools used to beat and torture prisoners and … the execution chambers in which 50 or 100 people were killed at once,” he said. – AP

Puts torture in its proper perspective, don’t it?

Conservatives Women More Than Just Talk

“McCains show off adopted daughter Bridget” The Independent (UK)

Its not that America was unaware of the story of how Mrs McCain, a multi-millionaire head of a beer distributing company, travelled to Bangladesh in 1991 and returned home with two babies scooped up from an orphanage run in Dhaka by the late Mother Theresa. But it had never been told like this. *** Mrs McCain, who for decades has promoted charitable causes in Third World countries with a particular focus on health care for children, was seated in a VIP box, with Bridget – looking slightly bamboozled under the television lights – at her side. How they came to be mother and daughter was narrated from the stage by Wes Gullett, a long-time family friend and former aide to John McCain. *** Mr Gullett knows all about the arrival of Bridget in America, because he and his wife ended up adopting the second baby Mrs McCain bought back with her after that trip in 1991. They named her Nikki. The Senators wife brought them to the US, because they both faced acute health challenges. Nikki had a heart condition and Bridget suffered from a cleft palate so severe she could not be fed.

Strong, independent women roll up their sleeves and accomplish things great and small.

Ill see your Peggy Noonan and raise you a couple of Hillary supporters…

I actually agree with a few Democrats for a change:

During FNCs Republican Convention live coverage, former Dukakis campaign manager and liberal FNC analyst Susan Estrich voiced her disapproval of the ”vicious and mean-spirited attacks” on Sarah Palin by the media as she appeared late Tuesday/early Wednesday night with anchor Greta van Susteren. Estrich: ”Ive never seen anything this bad in my life … I was with Geraldine Ferraro in 84 and this is worse. ” – NewsBusters

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sarah Palin found some unlikely allies Wednesday as leading academics and even former top aides to Hillary Rodham Clinton endorsed the Republican charge that John McCains running mate has been subject to a sexist double standard by the news media and Democrats. *** What were dealing with now, theres nothing subtle about it, said Tannen. Were dealing with the assumption that child-rearing is the job of women and not men. – Politico
