Butte County Should Join the State of Jefferson!

by Jack Lee

Jefferson

It began in earnest just prior to WWII. Siskiyou County declared itself independent and a sovereign state, but then WWII came along and people turned to the business of defending the nation and that ended the brief rebellion against big government.

But with government being bigger than ever, with more rules, more regulations, more freedom robbing laws every which way you turn, people are thinking maybe those rebels up in Siskiyou had the right idea all along? Maybe it is in our best interests to form a new state, free from whims of a heavily populated Southern California that can out vote the north state every time on any issue. There is no balance when that happens, the South can say, it’s our way or the highway.

Today’s editorial says this idea is an attention getting publicity stunt, but I disagree. I think it’s for real or at least it could be!

The State of Jefferson idea should be expanded beyond Siskiyou, to Del Norte, Humboldt, Modoc, Shasta, Trinity, Butte, Glenn, Tehema, Lake, Nevada, Sutter, Yuba, Sierra, Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Sacramento and Mendocino. We might as well keep the Capital since it’s already built and let SoCal have Los Angeles for their Capital. LA is calling the shots anyway, might as well make it official.

Northerner’s are tired of outsiders telling us what we can and can’t do. As time goes on this situation is only going to get worse. At stake is control over our natural resources and our freedom.

I say it’s time to split the state and restore our common sense Northern values! Let’s break off and form a new state. It’s now or never! The State of Jefferson can become the model of democracy, and not this sorry socialist excuse for what California has become. Berkeley, Oakland San Francisco on down to L.A., keep your socialism and ruin your state all on your own and leave us alone. Let those nut job libs run their state into the ground. Let’s save our half and show the rest of the country what democracy really means. It would be very telling and about as different as Cuba would be sitting next to Hawaii.

Everything on our planet runs on two things: energy and WATER. Let ‘em have Sacratomato and the capital. As long as we control Shasta and Oroville Dams, we have the big stick. Which is why a State of Jefferson will never be allowed to happen.

Let’s do it. Siskiyou’s Supervisors just passed this motion. How do we get our Supervisors on board and on their agenda?

Here is Mark Baird’s presentation in Redding last month.

Colorado state is doing the same thing and Texas is even setting their whole state up to survive the upcoming collapse of the entire US.

  3. J Soden says:

The idea of secession from CA has been around ever since the first idea was floated about water transfers to the South, and it’s an idea whose time has finally come.

It CAN be done. Yuma County in AZ was split into 2 counties – Yuma and La Paz – because of the same reasons.

Kudos to Siskyou County Board of Supervisors for their courage! Other counties, please take note!

  4. Peggy says:

    J. Soden, watch the video by Mark Baird. In it he explains why the process of presenting a “declaration” to the counties for support instead of a “resolution”. He also explains the flow of water from the north to the south is under federal control and will not be a factor for either pro or con since it’s not under state control. Think of the Mississippi river and the number of states it flows through.

  5. George T Miller says:

No thank you. Fiscally that is a joke

    • Jack says:

George have you really given this much thought? If you have, I will respect your opinion, but let’s not lose sight that this whole statehood thing started over fiscal concerns, i.e., misspent money, overregulation and loss of home rule (freedom). Do you really want Los Angeles to control our finite resources like our water? Do you want So-Cal to determine our taxes and insurance rates? Do you want them to regulate our industry, farming, water storage, hydro electric power and many other things near and dear to Northern Californians? Because they have the votes and they’re going to do what is best for them. If you believe otherwise, well, that’s an opinion not shared by many in the North State.

  6. Tina says:

    Fiscally? In what way?

  7. Mike says:

Please explain George what is the fiscal joke. Think of all the taxes we pay up here that are commandeered by the State. CA income taxes, Sales Taxes, Real Estate Taxes, etc. etc. Then we have to go on bended knee to Sacramento to try to get just some of that money back. Just think about a future where we would have this tax income to fund the necessary services our new state would need. Just think about a future where we would not need to spend on ridiculous “feel good” causes of the left or spend on meeting stupid regulations and mandates. Why we might even be able to cut our taxes!

    • JL says:

Mike, you are spot on! There comes a time when government grows so large it becomes unweildy. At the this point only the most responsible and intelligent people can keep the monstrosity in check. I don’t think anyone will accuse our legislators of being intelligent and responsible, so the outcome of this coupling between dumb and dumber is quite predictable. A broke state, a lousy government, a bloated budget, a bunch of do nothing commissions, committees, and non-elected offices that drag us all under water. CA has evolved into a hopeless tangle of misspent fortunes and broken dreams.

The changing demographics has created an unholy alliance with dumb voters/politicians, mostly these folks are coming from the liberal Southern end of the state. This combination can only mean if you think it’s bad now, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
