Voters Leaving Both Major Parties in Droves

Posted by Jack

WASHINGTON-USA Today reports… more than 2.5 million voters have left the Democratic and Republican parties since the 2008 elections, while the number of independent voters continues to grow.

By Danny Johnston, AP

A USA TODAY analysis of state voter registration statistics shows registered Democrats declined in 25 of the 28 states that register voters by party. Republicans dipped in 21 states, while independents increased in 18 states.

The trend is acute in states that are key to next year’s presidential race. In the eight swing states that register voters by party, Democrats’ registration is down by 800,000 and Republicans’ by 350,000. Independents have gained 325,000!

People have had it with timid, incompetent republicans and ruthless, crooked, socialist democrats.  They feel disenfranchised and sold out by both parties.  Because both parties have let them down election after election, although the dems have done more damage election after election.  Most will say they are just sick and tired of the mud and the general lack integrity in Washington.   They see government as the problem not the solution.   Can you believe that less than 7% of the voters think Congress is doing a good to great  job and 75% think they are doing a poor job!   That’s pathetic and yet the rascals still don’t get it!  That’s what is amazing to me, they are so out of touch and drunk on whatever it is that they drink in Washington that turns seemingly good people into corrupt political animals.

Revolutions have started with lesser issues than what we see today in America.  The anger is building among US citizens and it would not surprise me if we are headed for an American Spring, just like the Arab Spring movements.   -Jack

LOL as an Independent Voter I can assure you People are sick of the on the take bought out Citizens United politicians. Tea Party Politicians and their criminal activity being at the top of the list but not inclusive of them.

Not a win for the tea party a win for those of us who will repeal citizens united, fight tooth and nail against the TPP, patriot act, NDAA, GOP Privatization of the for profit military putting the country in debt and killing thousands both foreign and domestic for big oil.

Sorry that is the wave you do not want to see. Tea Party is an enemy and not grassroots at all. In fact Tobacco is a tea party founder as well as the kochs.

we will take our gov back from the wall street politicians and big oil tea party.

People are pissed but know better than the Koch produced Propaganda.

We talk on chat’s, we have a growing # of people that quite frankly would not be so informed if it was not for the Obvious Tea Party Lies daily. People who know what is going on see the Propaganda and are pissed.

ACA Propaganda and lies really set people off! Tea Party trying to Bankrupt their cities to liquidate all assets to wall street billionaires is a major issue. Our water is tainted and they get richer.

Sorry that is US! You guys go ahead and take over the GOP and keep threatening to over throw the GOV which is The people & Democracy and watch US! We are growing and waking the sleeping Giant.

I suppose the Tea Party has done us a favor. People know better than the Propaganda and they realize Tea Party has waged civil war by Politicians using Citizens United and will never stop until we shut them down.

By 2016 we will have an army ya just can not beat. last thang we want is either candidate from either party because they are bought out! all of them!

    Attacking Warren was a mistake

Voter suppression laws against minorities and women is a mistake

The racism that spews out in innuendo is a mistake

Shutting down the gov to raise money and the January shutdown to make further cuts for those who are victims of the Crash and do nothing Congress is a mistake

Bill after Bill of tax cuts for the richest citizens while attacking those who had their jobs sent overseas is a mistake

Bottom Line this next shutdown will be the thing that unifies Americans and the Tea Party will be on the wrong side

Vote Out TP 2014/2016 is ON! Independent Voters Unite! The web has an force you can not see Real Americans who have had enough of the Koch Boyz and their threat to demolish democracy

    • Post Scripts says:

Once again, Dewey, please tell me which of the core values of the Tea Party do you disagree with?

It’s a simple question, Dewey. The core values have been presented to you. Just go down the list and pick which ones you take exception too!

    Re #1 & #2:

I, for one, am quite impressed with The Dewp’s ravings. His steady stream of bilious lunacy gives Blame-The-Victim-Libby and Chris The (Whiny) Punk some real competition in the “who is most left-wing” department.

This rabid ménage à trois of progressive hate harpies — Dewey The Dewp, Blame-The-Victim-Libby, and Chris The Punk — are really quite impressive and entertaining.

  3. Libby says:

“Because both parties have let them down election after election, although the dems have done more damage election after election.”

I beg your pardon?! Which party was it that authored “The Great Recession” ??? !!!

Which party was it that authored The Great Depression, come to that?

    You got some nerve, Mister!

It was even Clinton’s embrace of “conservative” (but actually totally venal) economic policies that brought on the dot.com crash.

    You REALLY got some nerve!

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby, true I have been acused of having some nerve before, but it’s probably not the way you meant it. The Great Recession was brought on by the housing bubble caused by lenient lending practices that banks were forced into under duress by dems in Congress like Barney Frank who thought every American had a right to own a home. The Great Depression is another thing you are mistaken about.

The stock market crash of 1929, usually cited as the beginning of the Great Depression, was preceded by the Roaring ’20s, a period when the American public discovered the stock market and dove in head first. The crash wiped out many people’s investments and the public was understandably shaken. When bank failures erased the savings of those who weren’t even invested in the stock market, people were shattered. Although the market crash was unavoidable, the bank failures could have been prevented with better regulation.

Twenty-two years earlier, the panic of 1907 offered a similar scenario, as panic selling sent the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) spiraling downward and led to a bank run to boot. With no Federal Reserve to inject cash into the market, it fell upon investment banker J.P. Morgan to organize Wall Street. Morgan rallied people who had cash to spare and moved that capital to banks lacking funds. The panic led the government to create the Federal Reserve, in part to cut its reliance on financial figures like Morgan in the future. (For more on the Federal Reserve, read How The Federal Reserve Was Formed.)

In the crash of 1929, however, the Fed took the opposite course by cutting the money supply by nearly a third, thus choking off hopes of a recovery. Consequently, many banks suffering liquidity problems simply went under. The Fed’s harsh reaction, while difficult to understand, may have occurred because it wished to give Wall Street some tough love by refusing to bail out careless banks, a response that it felt would only encourage more fiscal irresponsibility in the future. In 1929 Republicans controlled the Senate, Congress and the Presidency, but they did not control the federal reserve. Also the crash of 29 was only part of the problem, the world went into depression for a number of reasons. Can’t just blame the republicans for everything and walk away Libby, you got some nerve… lol

      • Post Scripts says:

I better toss this in before you tell us it was the wascally wepublicans that created the fed and controlled it…they did not.

In the years between 1907 and 1913, the top bankers and government officials in the U.S. formed the National Monetary Commission and traveled to Europe to see how the central banking was handled there. They came back with favorable impressions of the British and German systems, using them as the base and adding some improvements gleaned from other countries.

The Federal Reserve was given power over the money supply and, by extension, the economy. Although many forces within the public and government were calling for a central bank that printed money on demand, President Wilson-D was swayed by Wall Street arguments against a system that would cause rampant inflation. So the government created the Federal Reserve, but it was by no means under government control.

Dewey who is “we” in your group? who do you speak for as you rant and rave against others.

What do you stand for besides the elimination of others and their rights as citizens to participate.

Hate? All you do is spew hate for others.

So far you have not said a single thing that you care about.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to take you seriously?

    Independent voters unite about what?

  6. Pie Guevara says:

    Re #4 Blame-The-Victim-Libby:

I’ve noticed you seem angry. Is something upsetting you?

  7. Dewey says:

Tina it would be a mistake to think anybody wanted a Tea Party member to take anyone else seriously…follow the yellow brick road my friend there is a Koch Bro behind the curtain!

  8. Tina says:

Libby: ” Which party was it that authored “The Great Recession”

The Democrat Party! The way it was done has been well documented on these pages. Other things can be factored in but to the degree that politics and law making were involved the Democrats are the culprits!

“Which party was it that authored The Great Depression…”

Same Party. In both cases Democrat economic and monetary policies got in the way of recovery. It isn’t the crash that hurts the general population…it’s what is done following the crash that hurts. In both cases what was done was dumb. Really dumb! The only difference between 1930 and 2008 is that in 1930 they didn’t have all of the infrastructure we already have, the economy wasn’t global or as diverse, and the ways and means to temper the people’s suffering weren’t available or weren’t employed. Our economy has been propped up with smoke and mirrors.

“It was even Clinton’s embrace of “conservative” (but actually totally venal) economic policies that brought on the dot.com crash.”

    No it wasn’t.

It was the rise of new technologies…it was irrational investors taking high risks on tech stocks that had no substantive worth.

The Clinton economy looks as good as it does because of dumb luck, breakthroughs in technology and the conservative Congress that saved his butt from his high tax and spend mentality and Hillarycare! The Bubble had nothing to do with legislation or policy.

George Bush’s recovery from the Clinton recession compounded by that bubble crash was quick and strong despite 911 and Katrina.

In contrast, under Obama we are living through the lousy recovery similar to the last depression. Misery has been elongated and painful because of Democrat policies that stifle and punish those who have the power to create recovery…investors and business.

  9. Tina says:

Dewey you can avoid questions all day long with yellow brick road cute-isms but they won’t divert anyone’s attention away from the fact that you will not state the platform YOU support. Makes you look like a coward, a fool, or a nutcase. You refuse to put your a** on the line my friend.

Accusations are just so much hot air…particularly when they are unsubstantiated in any meaningful way. I ask you for evidence that the Koch Brothers established the Tea Party and you gave me a link to a page that had no content just a commercial that appeared to have been constructed by an operative trying to smear the Koch’s and deceive people.

Anyone with a little knowledge of computers could create such a page.

Other than that all you spew is negativity, hate, lies…and intolerance of others.

  10. Pie Guevara says:

    Re #12 Tina :

The Dewp IS a coward, a fool, and nutcase. Of course, he will now again complain (just like the completely oblivious hypocrite and posing phony Chris The Punk) of personal attacks.

It seems our beloved and bizarre ménage à trois of progressive harpies who plague Post Scripts is becoming more and more rabid, silly, and unhinged. Bless them all. Each and every one. They make good ol’ Quentin look like a piker.

  11. Tina says:

    Federal Reserve Education

In reaction to the Great Depression, Congress passed the Banking Act of 1933, better known as the Glass-Steagall Act, calling for the separation of commercial and investment banking and requiring use of government securities as collateral for Federal Reserve notes. The Act also established the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), placed open market operations under the Fed and required bank holding companies to be examined by the Fed, a practice that was to have profound future implications, as holding companies became a prevalent structure for banks over time. Also, as part of the massive reforms taking place, Roosevelt recalled all gold and silver certificates, effectively ending the gold and any other metallic standard.(emphasis mine)

As GWB said, there is plenty of blame to go around.

But the radical socialists in the Democrat Party have been and are out in front of the parade debasing our currency, creating too much power at the top, and controlling the masses through taxation, regulation, and redistribution. Nothing they do encourages freedom or demands responsibility because they would have to give up control to allow that.

Amazing how these institutions changed the market and became part of the mess in later years.

Democrats controlled both houses of Congress.

  12. Pie Guevara says:

    Re #6 Tina :

“Dewey who is “we” in your group? who do you speak for as you rant and rave against others.”

I can answer that! The “we” is the various and sundry multiple demons which inhabit The Dewp.

“Hate? All you do is spew hate for others.”

Yep. Just like his comrades Blame-The-Victim Libby and Chris The Punk. You gotta love them all.

“Do you have any idea how difficult it is to take you seriously?”

I take everything the Dewp spews very seriously. He has single-handedly (well, I mean all his internal demons speaking as one beast) usurped both Blame-The-Victim Libby and Chris The Punk as the premier representative of progressive thought in these pages.

I bow deeply and humbly to The Dewp. I sing praises to this giant amongst men, a true progressive intellectual leviathan.

  13. Pie Guevara says:

    #14 Tina :

Thank you Tina, but a good dose of reality will likely be insufficient.

  14. Harold says:

Dewey’s false and inaccurate information he is using to deliberately discredit both the TEA PARTY by attempting to identify the Koch’s brothers as founding fathers of the Tea Party is as fractured as the methods the Koch’s created to release oil from shale deposits. (possibly Dewey’s reasons to discredit them, but that is another issue)

The Koch Charitable Foundation, is an organization that has a stated goal of “advancing liberty and freedom” through the support of various causes.
Sadly Dewey attempts to present his disinformation without basis, which has been proven by several rebuffs from other posters.

So even if Dewey will not recognize the falsehood of his posts the majority of us do. I for one, regard his posts in the same vein as the recent releases from the Obama administration on any one of several of their media supported act’s of deception and false statements to convince the American VOTER that all is well, using blatant untruthful spin.

However it is important to remember “Disinformation” used by this White House administration should never be confused with “Misinformation”, which is information that would be considered as unintentionally false. There is a BIG difference between the two!

    • Post Scripts says:

Harold, I could’nt agree more with your comments on the Dew person!

This brings up a another subject….censorship. I realized it gets annoying when we allow someone to rant and post things that are highly questionable (that’s being polite). But, you and our fellow readers might like to know that a recent court case says, if news or editorial site attempts to edit readers comments then they may assume future liability for their content if it was actually deliberate disinformation.

One last thing, as far as I know, the last S.C. ruling said blogs enjoy a greater standard of protection than the news and editorial sites. So with that in mind, the ruling [probably] has little or no effect on us… at this time. The S.C. reasoned that a free speech podium for citizens must have great latitude or we don’t really have free speech. I agree. Tina and I have gone to great lengths to afford everyone an opportunity to voice their opinions here, so even folks like the Dew-person can comment, we just hope they will be responsible and respectful. Kinda of like kids hoping for a Christmas miracle!

  15. Libby says:

“The Dewp IS a coward, a fool, and nutcase. Of course, he will now again complain (just like the completely oblivious hypocrite and posing phony Chris The Punk) of personal attacks.”

Oh, thank you, Pie. I was having a really crappy morning … been tormented by the public transit three days in a row … but you have cheered me up … astoundingly.

You should go on the stage … you really should.

  16. Libby says:

“In 1929 Republicans controlled the Senate, Congress and the Presidency, but they did not control the federal reserve.”

And so you contrive some fable to make it the fed’s fault? That’s pitiful. The unhappy fact is that most of your “economic principles” are actually articles of faith, manifesting nowhere in the real world. The the lack of responsibility you’re always accusing everybody else of reposes much closer to home … your home.

    • Post Scripts says:

Libby, I did not contrive anything m’dear. I merely took a page from history that has been vetted and researched by thousands of people for years. Just because it does not fit with your version of the facts it doesn’t mean it is contrived or in any way wrong. Did you do any research? Because I don’t see any evidence, it’s just you once again blaming me for reporting history.

Now, the national TP org has had Koch money. The brothers admit it. They have financed TP candidates. They admit it.

Dewey overstates the case, that’s all. I’ll see if I can do anything with him.

  19. Dewey says:

The #1 issue for the Tea Party Politicians is to get rid of Social security and medi care and give the billionaires more tax cuts. The billionaires are hoarding their profits overseas and do not want the American worker to prosper.

The real grassroots people are the True Independents. Not tea party posing as Independents but the true Independents.

How much Profit has been made off the 2 wars? And yet the deficit they created are left to the tax payers.

Not only do we give tax cuts to companies moving our jobs overseas it is a National Security risk.

China is getting kind of pesky now that we are officially a 3rd world country and manufacture almost nothing.

This country is dependent on Communist China call that a wise decision?

Name a trade agreement that was good for the American worker!

look at the products in the stores where were they made? That is where the jobs are. There are 3 people looking for every 1 low wage job in America.

How about the fact that the banksters pay capital gains and carried interest tax and workers pay a higher income tax?

How about the banksters who crashed the system are making around a Billion a yr individually and they want workers to make $2 or $3 an hour?

Sounds like a communist fascist system to me.

A True patriot wants to rebuild America, stop the corporations from using tax payer funds to spy on the taxpayers, want to stop the profit wars and the bills left to the tax payers while they rake in the dough.

    Americans believe Humans are important.

We eat food from China full of poison and export our food to other counties? Taxpayers subsidize that?

“We the people” have had it with the Tea Party false shield for Koch Bro and the other 59 or so Billionaires.

ALEC writes the laws for corporations and then buys the politician. PERIOD

Independents are willing to take out every corrupt Politician left or Right and will take out 100% Tea Party

Profits are the highest they have ever been in history including the Roman Empire but yet the Tea Party wants to destroy the American Worker who’s jobs were taken from them

Only a fool falls for this crap.

  20. Tina says:

Libs: “And so you contrive some fable to make it the fed’s fault?”

Fable? Hardly! Fault? No, just part of the problem…government intrusion.

Creating the fed was a mistake. Government securities have given Congress and presidents lots of room to meddle into the affairs of men and the economy.

We used to be on the gold standard. Banks had to conduct business wisely or fail.

“The unhappy fact is that most of your “economic principles” are actually articles of faith, manifesting nowhere in the real world.”

Perhaps the small representation can be explained by the articles of faith so much of the world’s population has invested in the demonstrably failed socialist systems so popular in the last century.

Freedom and capitalism are representative of the only system in the world responsible for real growth, innovation, and the improvement in living conditions and opportunity. Socialists countries fail again and again. Countries with a mixture end up deeply in debt and surviving rather than thriving while contributing little to improve lives or keep peace loving people alive.

You cannot compare the two systems truthfully without coming to the conclusion that freedom and capitalism, though imperfect, represent the best system humans are capable of conceiving.

“he the lack of responsibility you’re always accusing everybody else of reposes much closer to home … your home.”

And what responsibility would that be? I have expressed an opinion about the depression, recessions, and the Obama non-recovery. I have acknowledged that blame must be shared but that the difference in core beliefs put Republicans in the go along category rather than the lead the charge category. I have shown you evidence to support my opinion. How is that not being responsible?

When have you ever admitted Democrats were responsible for anything or that the polices you have championed don’t work (witness the last five years)?

  21. Pie Guevara says:

    Re #18 Blame-The-Victim Libby :

Thank you Libby. Now go piss on another dead old lady.

  22. Tina says:

Libby: “Now, the national TP org has had Koch money. The brothers admit it. They have financed TP candidates. They admit it.”

As citizens of these United states that is their right. donating money and giving support is not at all the same as creating or starting the movement and/or directing it from behind the curtain as Dwewy suggests.

The idea that the individual citizens who spontaneously marched on DC and then went back home to form local groups and hold independent meetings are “brown shirts” is also ridiculous.

Dewey’s rantings are not just a case of overstating the case…they are fabrications of his own distorted imaginings. (I wonder about the cause)

I too would love it if you could do something about the Dew monster.

  23. Dewey says:

Creating the FED was huge mistake and started the very problem.

Also if you go way back in history to the very first banks, Corporations (East Indian tea Co)and foundations you will see that nothing has changed.

They have reached what they call the Third wave to globalization and rule over the world.

Never make the mistake that because a corporation started out in America it’s stock is owned by Americans. They are foreign corporations with not a care about the American people.

Also realize if china cuts us off we have no car parts, no computers, on and on that is a national security problem.

    Kings and serfs

There is hardly a Politician in Congress who is not 100% bought out. The only fight you see is Koch Boyz Big Oil types and The wall street types. They use social issues to divide the population but in truth most could care less about social issues because in the end your employer will control every aspect of your life.

Back to company currency, Company stores ect.

Many Many Dems are on the take as well as Republicans and Tea Party is the new Boys working for the Koch types

However capitalism is not the only system..

    cap•i•tal•is•m (kăpˈĭ-tl-ĭzˌəm)
    n. An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

Capitalism means you make money off of money. Capitalism is investments. So a whole country of investors and when the market crashes? ya know the unregulated free market where the Banks and fed never cheat? I mean they are all so honest! BULL!

Capitalism does not support those whose who are the laborers that make the products, A balance of socialism and capitalism is required to balance for freedom. That is like saying being a teacher is a slum thing t do. Being a farmer is a serf. LOL

That means every tea party member that is not in the 1% will be excluded from freedom.

You older people are the last to receive pensions, social security ect. They want all tax dollars dverted to the 1% just like the king of England. LOL Tea party back to the King via dumb Americans…Go figure..Ya know the bank of England is still connected to us right?

That is their free markets all for them little for you and laborers are serfs.

Some are, now. In the past they have been as unwilling to state their positions as you are, as easily duped into conspiracy theory as you, and as frustratingly fickle as you appear to be. I suspect this comes as a result of being misinformed and uncertain about what actually works. They often vote according to what they believe is popular.

HUH? Blame-The-Victim Libby do something about The Dewp? Does this imply they share the same social media outside of Post Scripts? Chris The Punk too? This triumvirus of elbow flapping harpies straight from progressive hell? 😀

What, precisely, would or could Blame-The-Victim Libby do to The Spew? Create another moronic monster like herself?

Oh yeah, all right, uptight, outtasight! The Dewp has kicked Blame-The-Victim Libby and Chris The Punk right off their thrones. Long live The Dewp! If Blame-The-Victim Libby were to do anything, it should be to encourage more like him and her. Hot diggity dog, get me some mustard and a bag of popcorn, the show is about to begin. Send in more of the deranged!

  28. Libby says:

“Freedom and capitalism are representative of the only system in the world responsible for real growth, innovation, and the improvement in living conditions and opportunity.”

That, I’m sorry, is just rubbish. The ONLY thing which has enabled capitalism to persist as long as it has is the steady implementation of socialist mitigations, starting with the Factory Act of 1802 in Britain (the implementation of which British mill owners successfully prevented).

Another hundred, two hundred, years and we’ll have it reduced to a nasty aberration in human social development.

….”But you also have to be willing to consider the possibility that, because you so very, very, very much want the OA to fail, your perceptions are prejudiced.
Libby if your going to quote something, at least keep your opinion in the realm of reality, but as normal you post your conclusions that have very little meaning to the comment.

The Obama Administration has failed me, no question in my mind!. But he did so before I gave up on him in the office of President, in fact Obama has failed us all, the voters of both parties, all of Congress and more importantly America. Of late, his true lack of leadership is being reported in actuality, once the alphabet media realized Obama will dump on anyone that doesn’t totally support him without question, and it only takes criticism of just one of his manipulative disinformation spins for Obama to turn on anyone.

Since his re-election his complete lack of management has prevailed on so many issues to date that a list of major problems is over whelming, but if you do not see it, you’ve got your head buried way to deep in your own Ideology, so to speak!

The current WH amusements support my statement, and my statement, when not used out of context stands along on its own merit. As a current Obama dissenter, I was willing to see if he could lead our country based on his campaign promises, but alas he has failed both in keeping his word, and proven he has no administrative ability. Anything that has been done during his administration was always the work effort of someone else, as long as it followed the lines of his socialist convictions.

Of late the rest of the world has seem through his teleprompter blather, and gotten wise to his meaningless words, as recently substantiated by Obama’s decline of any creatable importance as a world leader.

If the USA is to get back its standing in the World politics, for other than just a ready mercenary army of our young people dying for meaningless objectives in the name of peace, then voters need to wake up to the fact that a flashy personality in a empty suit isn’t what America needed, it needs a leader to stay the course until the voters needs are balanced and met, not just forcefully implemented.

I did research on candidate Obama and determined he was not ready for the Presidency. He has not surprised me in the least but I do feel for the people of this nation; eight years is a long time to endure under such as he. The mess he will leave behind is monstrous…the evil he’s spun into peoples lives is horrendous.

  33. Libby says:

“… and it only takes criticism of just one of his manipulative disinformation spins for Obama to turn on anyone.”

So, tell me about one of these vendettas?

“… so many issues to date that a list of major problems is over whelming, ….”

Educate me, then. And I am going to restrict you to policies he instituted, rather than his efforts to clean up the existing mess.

You know, I actually think he may get Gitmo closed before his term ends. That’s pretty cool, though you may not think so.

I don’t see how you can deny that, overall, strategic national security operations are humming along. The stuff we initiate, anyway. Benghazi was a blot, but it’s just not possible to be absolutely on top of everything.

The ACA will be problematic for years to come, but I think these are problems the nation must address.

I will fault him for letting The Street off the hook, for the most part, for the implosion of ’08, and failing to restrain it’s apparent intention to inflate yet another bubble.

I will fault him for letting the NSA run amok … we are paying people to infiltrate the World of Warcraft? Geez.

It’s true that there’s noting inspiring about any of this, but I’ll take slow and steady progress over “The Second Great Depression” any old time.

Maybe Ms. Warren will get us to Single Payer!
