In the Kohst Province of Aghanistan, U.S. Special Forces stood by as Taliban leaders released Sgt. Bowie Bergdahl. At the same time five high ranking Al Qaeda/Taliban leaders were released in Qatar.
Bergdahl was quickly wisked away in an Army helicopter.
Many people are now convinced that on June 30, 2009 Sgt. Bergdahl walked off his Army base in civilian clothing and without his weapon. If true, that’s an act of desertion.
Bergdahl was only in Afghanistan for a few months when emails began being sent to his family back in Idaho that suggested he was disillusioned with America’s mission in Afghanistan, that he had lost faith in the U.S. Army’s mission there and he was considering desertion. Bergdahl told his parents he was “ashamed to even be American.” Bergdahl, who mailed home boxes containing his uniform, wrote: “The future is too good to waste on lies. And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong.” CBS sourced material.
Bergdahl was last seen in a video the Taliban released in December.
At this year’s Grammys, airhead celebrities were photographed wearing Bowe bracelets. In the past two years, billboards with Bergdahl’s face have popped up in major cities. One shows a smiling Bergdahl, in an Army uniform, with the message: “He fought for us. … Let’s fight for him!” If the above report from CBS and others is correct, then Bergdahl never fought us…in fact he was ashamed of us! Liberals quick to defend him should remember Barack Obama was President at the time he wrote this, so it seems Bergdahl must have been talking trash about the president, which is forbidden in the military.
A transcript of radio intercepts, publicly released through Wikileaks, indicates that Bergdahl, then 23, was captured while sitting in a makeshift latrine.
“We were attacking the post he was sitting,” according to a radio intercept of a conversation among insurgents. “He had no gun with him. … They have all (the) Americans, ANA (Afghan National Army), helicopters, the planes are looking for him. Can you guys make a video of him and announce it all over Afghanistan that we have one of the Americans?”
The Army has been uncharacteristically tight-lipped regarding exactly how Bergdahl fell into enemy hands. However, they have never said he was “missing in action.” They have also never said he was on any sort of mission at the time of his capture. This glaring omission tends to lend credence to the story that Bergdahl simply deserted. If so, he is far from being the hero his family and many supporters claim him to be. If true, he would be the only deserter during the entire Afghanistan campaign.
The videos Bergdahl made after his capture, although likely made under some duress, was used by the enemy for their propaganda purposes. His presence among the Taliban has resulted in the unprecedented action taken by Barrack Obama to negotiate directly with terrorists and to circumvent the law by not advising Congress of his intention to release five high level terrorists in exchange for Bergdahl. The United States has long held that we do not negotiate for the release of hostages. This policy was in order to deter terrorists from seizing Americans for leverage. When Obama took his action without legal authority he placed all Americans at greater risk for kidnapping. Our allies have until now followed our lead and agreed not to negotiate with terrorists, but this prisoner exchange changes everything and makes us look like weak hypocrites. This is why I strongly believe that President Obama’s actions have compromised our national security and put us all at greater risk.
The fact that Ambassador Susan Rice has give us strong assurances today that the five Taliban leaders will not go right back to killing Americans carries little weight with most of us. As you may recall it was Rice that previously assured Americans a video made in America caused a random mob to attack our U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
If Bergdahl is charged with desertion it’s going to reflect very poorly on the President’s decision to make this prisoner swap. If that’s the case, then the chances are good the White House will put pressure on the Army to make this all go away as quietly as possible. The true story about Bergdahl’s capture may not come our for a very long time.
He and his Dad are both questionable as loyal Americans in my estimation:
Acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree.
What the hell was this guy doing in an all volunteer army?
I knew that father was a piece of sh—. I think ne has Stockholm syndrome via his son’s capture and he is a rabid moron to boot.
The weekly Standard profiles the terrorists Obama has just set free. a few highlights:
Such a deal for America and our troops, huh?

Information on Dad worth noting from Breitbart Big Peace
This is who Obama traded five terrorists for, — “I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools. I am sorry for everything. The horror that is America is disgusting.”
The message? Extort USA! I am appalled.
#3 Pie, Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I grew up watching my parents, aunts and uncles dancing the Boogie, Swing and Lindy in our living room and out at dance parties.
They all grew up in LA where my mom was the Lindy queen and one uncle appeared in several 1940-1950 big band movies. The most famous, “It’s a Wonderful Life” the dance floor that opens to a pool.
It’s great hearing 20-30 year olds are taking classes, having competitions and enjoying it as much as we and my parent’s generation did.
There is just something not right with the Bergdahl release. He doesn’t look that sick that giving Congress the 30 day notification would have been fatal to him.
Susan Rice on the Sunday talk shows yesterday said they’d been working on his release for three years. If that is true it brings up the question even more why didn’t the administration work with Congress?
Peggy, there’s something really NOT right in my opinion too. When a liberal media, and conservative members of Congress can agree with their liberal colleagues that Obama broke the law when he took it upon himself to free Bergdahl in a prisoner swap. Further they agree he took a huge risk and blundered when he broke a 100 year standing rule not to negotiate with terrorists for the release of a hostage. There’s something really wrong here, but who will stand up to Obama and impeach him? The likely answer is nobody, he’ll get away with it just like he always has.
This is yet another reason why Guantanamo should not even exist. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s my understanding that the president can’t just release any prisoners he wants to; it’s the murky legal status of Guantanamo that gives him this power. If the five alleged terrorists had been tried and convicted under our constitutional process, Obama never would have had the authority to make this kind of trade in the first place. Kind of goes with the old conservative adage, “what the federal government giveth, the federal government can taketh away.”
Chris, it’s my understand that Obama made this release in defiance of the law, thus another abuse of his presidential powers. Even though we are dealing with this detainee status at Guantanamo experts agree that he had no Constitutional authority to do what he did. “Like President George W. Bush before him, President Obama has stretched the limits of his authority by swapping five Taliban terrorism suspects for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl — ignoring a law that dictates he must give Congress a 30-day warning before transferring Guantanamo detainees to another country.” NYTimes article-1.1813553#ixzz33VJYvBY2
Jack, I couldn’t believe I was hearing and reading progressives and liberal agree with conservatives and Republicans on the five terrorist should not have been released and that Obama broke the law by not notifying Congress 30 days before.
Obama’s handlers blew this one. They thought everyone would be jumping for joy at getting this guy released. Instead people are actually questioning what he did and why.
It’s nice having both sides thinking and hopefully working together to stop this idiot who thinks he’s king from destroying our country.
