Update – House Report on Benghazi

After two years of recriminations and investigations, the Republican-led House intelligence committee is reportedly set to release the results of a Benghazi investigation that found no wrongdoing by the Obama administration in the lead-up and response to the deadly 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya.

Rep. Mike Thompson, a California Democrat who sits on the panel, told the San Francisco Chronicle late Friday that conservatives’ big Benghazi witch-hunt was a nothingburger, and we’d all be reading more about it soon:

The panel voted Thursday to declassify the report, the result of two years of investigation by the committee. U.S. intelligence agencies will have to approve making the report public.

Thompson said the report “confirms that no one was deliberately misled, no military assets were withheld and no stand-down order (to U.S. forces) was given.”

That conflicts with accusations of administration wrongdoing voiced by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista (San Diego County), whose House Government Oversight and Reform Committee has held hearings on the Benghazi attack.

The report’s conclusions, according to Thompson, include these:

— Intelligence agencies were “warned about an increased threat environment, but did not have specific tactical warning of an attack before it happened.”

— “A mixed group of individuals, including those associated with al Qaeda, (Moammar) Khadafy loyalists and other Libyan militias, participated in the attack.”

— “There was no ‘stand-down order’ given to American personnel attempting to offer assistance that evening, no illegal activity or illegal arms transfers occurring by U.S. personnel in Benghazi, and no American was left behind.”

Glad to see you post this, Jack. Hopefully it will put the issue to rest.

So, the report hasn’t been release yet. What is posted is the opinions of those who say they have read it.

Here is a really good video even teachers and parents can use.

This has been said over and over. Look Issa was elected to do as he does.

Does it really matter what party they are in if they are just wasting tax dollars? Issa one of the richest in congress with a history of getting out of prosecutions has no business in congress.

As long as people play the partisan game of my side your side this country will continue to go down the toilet in the new Gilded age.

History is repeating for sure. Americans never learn any lessons…what does that say?

I’d rather take my chance on people of moderate wealth born in California…..

Also the attack on USPS for Fedex and UPS privatization is a scam. The USPS does not use tax dollars. The 2006 law that required USPS to fund the pensions of people not even hired yet for 75 years in a 10 yr period has a reserve of about 55 Billion dollars. That ten year period comes up in 2016/7…

You realize they would be running at a profit. They also should be able to get into email and other businesses. if you did not want to use them that would be your right. I would use them.

Issa’s attack on USPS… would eliminate the only service of communication that is legislated PRIVATE and has to deliver to every person in the USA.

Google and other services are reading your email… now I have no problem with them reporting the porn dude….however there is no regulation on who they start to turn in. Maybe a state where it is illegal to cheat and they start busting people…you get the drift..

These guys are raping all our assets and destroying Democracy… Water is next

I’d put money that MSNBC nor FOX touches these issues as the 5 or 6 owners of Mainstream media simply control what we are told.

Time for a real grassroots group that includes all Americans…

Well this is an amusing turn of events. a nice little whitewash piece that means very little. Consider:

Intelligence agencies were “warned about an increased threat environment, but did not have specific tactical warning of an attack before it happened.”

the attack happened on the anniversary of 911; We should have been much better prepared to respond SHOULD an attack happen. Like having an exit strategy in place. Even kindergartners practice fire drills. Therefore the intelligence agencies are NOT off the hook in terms of competence or duty.

“A mixed group of individuals, including those associated with al Qaeda, (Moammar) Khadafy loyalists and other Libyan militias, participated in the attack.”

What? No spontaneous protest? No vulgar video?

Once again all this does is reaffirm that the lie told to the American people, and the families of the fallen, was designed as a cover for incompetence and an egregious lack of preparedness on the part of the State Department and the military under President Obama.

“There was no ‘stand-down order’ given to American personnel attempting to offer assistance that evening, no illegal activity or illegal arms transfers occurring by U.S. personnel in Benghazi.

I will have to see the report to even know what this is supposed to mean. At least two of the Americans that died reportedly rushed to help even though they were under orders not to go. I have not read an explanation that would adequately explain the early reporting.

Also, weapons we were moving in Benghazi ended up in the hands of terrorists:

The United States, which had only small numbers of C.I.A. officers in Libya during the tumult of the rebellion, provided little oversight of the arms shipments. Within weeks of endorsing Qatar’s plan to send weapons there in spring 2011, the White House began receiving reports that they were going to Islamic militant groups. They were “more antidemocratic, more hard-line, closer to an extreme version of Islam” than the main rebel alliance in Libya, said a former Defense Department official.

The American people have not been honestly informed, in fact we were deliberately lied to about the information available that night and the lack of readiness to deal with the threat in Benghazi.

The report is meaningless…it is Washington speak…it is gobbledygook.

You know, some day I hope you learn that simply repeating things over and over again does not make them true. Most people learn this when they are six.

Let’s discuss the CIA over reach ..Eh? They have spied on every admin to cover their tracks

Also we all know The CIA… Guns… had part of the embassy..and that is the real story….

CIA spying on the Senate? Why? same reason we had the watergate burglaries… all of them…. They are looking to cover their tracks

Remember the committee that was looking at the autopsy photos of JFK?

Remember they discovered the CIA had gone into their office and into the safe where the pictures were?

Remember that the fingerprints were of a CIA person… and then the replacement CIA was the very guy they wanted to question but did not yet know his name?

Time to get down and dirty and stop the corruption that has been going on for years

Also.. Why in the world was a CIA guy ever elected President… the deep secrets are hidden in the CIA , FBI, Fed, and the pentagon.. lets get real

We still do not know what Michael Hastings had on the FBI he is dead now.

Ah, Tina, you are still worth a giggle … but not a comment.
