Lois Lerner Launches Boo Hoo Tour

Posted by Tina

Richard Nixon had the selfless dignity and good sense to slink away and lead a quiet life after disgracing himself following the Watergate incident. Lois Lerner, the disgraced IRS employee who, after delivering an excuse filled statement, pleaded the fifth rather than testify, went away for a time. But now she’s back and has begun a boo hoo tour:

Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS.

Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal.

Lerner manages in the Politico article to paint herself as victim. We would all be fools to buy it. The IRS is the most fearsome government agency with power to make any Americans life a living hell for the slightest, or even imagined, infractions of the law. The charges here are that this woman and perhaps other used the agency to harass political opponents of the party she favored and block them from participation in an election cycle. This is no small thing. If allowed to get away with this, a precedent and example will be set that its acceptable to use the power of government against the American people.

The Federalist throws cold water on the boo hoo tour citing the charges against this woman including whether she was complicit in destroying evidence that could convict her.

The American people should be able to get justice in this case, unfortunately we cannot count on the Justice Department any more than we can trust the IRS. We don’t get to boo hoo…we just get to “pony up”

    Regarding this statement

Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal. –

That is not a scandal. The IRS did enter in political words to speed up things and frankly I have no problem with that but you can disagree.

The democrats and progressives were also targeted.

This is what I am talking about the Tea Party Boo Hoo

Ignoring the federal Law as well

Non profits were not designed to be political groups and fake political religious groups.

You attack a woman, you waste millions of tax Dollars and then ruin a woman’s life? For what?

To protect Donors and organizations that are 100% Political.

The Tea Party has done nothing for the social welfare of the people. Name 1 thing the Tea party has done for the social welfare of all people?

Leave the woman alone, move on we have bigger problems.

I want all these non profits removed. Republican, Democrat, and any Church that engages in politics needs to pay taxes.

They use the roads , airports, and infrastructure of the country.

Politics is not tax free and should not be.

This reads like another Tea party Boo Hoo.

We need to recognize the actual federal law and debate that. I agree non profit is for 100% social welfare of the people.

It is attack on Democracy to demand Foreign Money be able to hide in non profits for political agendas.

    A. Left wing non-profits have been doing politics for decades. None of them had a problem with the IRS like this.

    B. Lois Lerner specifically used her power to prevent these organizations from participating LEGALLY prior to the election doing the same kinds of get out the vote efforts that left wing 501c4’s do every election cycle.

    C. Only a conservative had his private mailing lists exposed (illegal and unethical) and were targeted and harassed by other agencies.

    D. The Justice Department was also allegedly involved and possibly complicit in illegal activity.

E This is not just a prank. It is VERY serious; a legal matter that will go to court.

    F. 501c3 is 100% social giving. 501c4 is a different category and allows for some political activity: “…exclusively to promote social welfare, an organization must operate primarily to further the common good and general welfare of the people of the community (such as by bringing about civic betterment and social improvements).”

Voter registration, get out the vote activities and volunteering at voting stations are activities that “further the common good.”

Who is “demanding foreign” money? Other than the Clintons, see also here, or Obama?

And Soros…he just hides his millions in contributions in 501c4s and lets them distribute it.

You’re aware that the only groups that were actually denied tax exempt status during the time period of this alleged scandal were progressive groups, right?

  4. Dewey says:

If you like hidden secret money buying law just say so but stop the sham

I said dem, rep, or anyone. This is Post Citizens United and in the end only way to end will be to sell your lawmaking. So which is it guys cause you can not have it both ways.

I say get the Money out NOW!

    QUOTE————————————

WASHINGTON — In politics, it is sometimes better to be lucky than good. Republicans and Democrats, and groups sympathetic to each, spend millions on sophisticated technology to gain an advantage.

They do it to exploit vulnerabilities and to make their own information secure. But sometimes, a simple coding mistake can lay bare documents and data that were supposed to be concealed from the prying eyes of the public.

Such an error by the Republican Governors Association recently resulted in the disclosure of exactly the kind of information that political committees given tax-exempt status usually keep secret, namely their corporate donors and the size of their checks. That set off something of an online search war between the association and a Washington watchdog group that spilled other documents, Democratic and Republican, into the open.

The documents, many of which the Republican officials have since removed from their website, showed that many of America’s most prominent companies, from Aetna to Walmart, had poured millions of dollars into the campaigns of Republican governors since 2008. One document listed 17 corporate “members” of the governors association’s secretive 501(c)(4), the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee, which is allowed to shield its supporters from the public.

“This is a classic example of how corporations are trying to use secret money, hidden from the American people, to buy influence, and how the governors association is selling it,” said Fred Wertheimer, the president of Democracy 21, a nonpartisan group that advocates more transparency and controls over political money.

The trove of documents, discovered by watchdogs at the Democrat-aligned Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, sheds light on the secretive world of 501(c)(4) political groups, just as the battle over their future intensifies. Unlike the Republican Governors Association, the tax-exempt Republican Governors Public Policy Committee is not required to disclose anything, even as donors hit the links, rub shoulders and trade policy talk with governors and their top staff members.

Dewey there is no way to “get the money out”.

There is only one thing, and it works pretty well…”freedom”. You should try it sometime.

It works better when a society has high personal morals and standards. There is a radical element in our nation, an amoral radical element…they don’t give a rip. We had better find a way to defeat THEM if ever we are to get our free republic back.

Dewey Crooks and Liars is a liberal group. So is CREW.

The Democrat Governors Association is active in politics and plans to spend heavy in certain states.

In fact Democrats have a long history of attempting to stifle freedom, speech and election participation. Recall it was Democrats blocking the black vote in Mississippi!

If you think Democrats don;t have groups with piles of secret and laundered cash working in every election you are delusional. Ever heard of the Democracy Alliance? Read on. The cash infusion Soros is launching this year is FAT…see here:

The billionaire members of the elite fundraising empire known as the Democracy Alliance have reportedly funneled $500 million or more into leftist and pro-Democrat organizations. The goal of the Alliance is to foster a permanent political infrastructure of left-wing nonprofits, think tanks, media outlets, leadership schools, and activist groups.

Please don’t pretend to be independent. You continually show your true colors.

  6. Tina says:

Chris: “You’re aware that the only groups that were actually denied tax exempt status during the time period of this alleged scandal were progressive groups, right?”

Don”t know where you got that information, Chris, but it is inaccurate. Some of the conservative groups had still not been granted non-profit status months after the scandal broke and lawsuits had been filed…all after the election, of course.

    NY Daily News:

tea party groups were asked inappropriate questions about their donors, their political affiliations and their positions on political issues. The additional scrutiny delayed applications for an average of nearly two years, making it difficult for many of the groups to raise money.

On Tuesday, leaders of conservative groups complained to Congress that they were abused by the Internal Revenue Service for years as they sought tax-exempt status, including questions one Iowa anti-abortion group said it got about prayer meetings.

The testimony of the tea party and other conservative organizations before the House Ways and Means Committee was the first time groups complaining about the IRS’s treatment have appeared directly before lawmakers since the IRS revealed the problem — and apologized for it — last month. They talked about applications for tax-exempt status that took three years for approval — or in some cases haven’t yet been approved — and queries from the agency about the identity of their donors, video of meetings and whether speakers at such gatherings expressed political views.

“I’m a born-free American woman,” Becky Gerritson, president of the Wetumpka Tea Party in Alabama, tearfully told the committee, adding, “I’m telling my government, you’ve forgotten your place.”

Citizens have been harmed by an agency that abused its power for political reasons. Lawsuits are being filed, see here, here, and here.

The IRS has been politicized. The following is a story from 2 days ago that deserved main stream media attention…did anyone hear it or see it?

    How about this story?

  7. Peggy says:

Chris, if they’d been denied they would have been able to appear. Not getting an approval or denial put them in a state of limbo for years.

Just the fact that the only ones denied were progressives should give you a clue as to what was going on.
