Sorry Folks, Healthcare.gov Pricing Won’t Be Available Until Ater the Election!

Posted by Tina

Employees that work for businesses that were given a waiver for 2014 will be facing the daunting task of deciding on a plan that will work best for them. If you’re one of the many people who will be buying health insurance on Healthcare.gov this year you’ll have to wait until after the election to begin comparing plans and prices. Last year pricing was available for comparison on the federal website on October 1st. This year enrollment doesn’t begin on November 15th, after the election.

Is the news that bad?

A former HHS official has filed a lawsuit over the failure to release pricing in a timely manner:

The lawsuit was filed by Jay Angoff on behalf of a Missouri consumer advocacy group. Angoff previously oversaw ACA implementation at HHS. The suit contends that the ACA requires HHS to publicize rate information to allow consumers the opportunity to challenge the rate increases. However, HHS has failed to publish any rate filings and did not respond quickly to a Freedom of Information Act request the group submitted for the filings, the suit alleges.

It also alleges that HHS has not made rate filings public in past years, as its own regulations require.

The Washington Times reports on figures from PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ Health Research Institute: “…average premium increase this year is 5.9 percent, according to data collected from 40 states and the District of Columbia.”

The website scpr.org predicts rates will rise 4.2% for Californians. Comments on the posting indicate that for those not receiving a subsidy prices increased this year from 30% to 63% so the damage for those who will actually pay for the first time is already cooked in.

We were promised lower premiums by up to $2500.00 a year. Instead we have a huge wealth redistribution plan. Some Americans will be forced to pay higher premiums for themselves AND to subsidize others. How low do you have to be to play Santa using other peoples money?

Like water dripping on your forehead the reality of Obamacare is a torture we cannot afford to set aside. The remedy is freedom and choice. The relief will only happen if we rid the halls of Congress and the White House of radical left lawmakers and leaders. We have two opportunities to turn this sinking ship around and get it to shore where we can unload the weight of draconian big government control. The first is November 4th. The second is the 2016 presidential election.

I wish those looking for insurance this year all kinds of luck. Wading through options can be difficult. Strained budgets and rising prices don’t make the task any easier!

Tina, there is an error in your article. You indicated the pricing will be available on October 15. I think you meant November 15.

  2. Tina says:

Thanks More Common Sense. A correction is forthcoming.

There is another item that is being delayed until after the election. The Bowe Begdahl investigation is complete but the results won’t be announced until after the election.

This is the most corrupt administration I have seen in my 60 years!

I agree. When Jimmy Carter piles on you know its got to be pretty bad.

And neither will the report on the “investigation” of the desertion of Bergdahl. Both reports are being kept in a drawer in the white house . . . . . . alongside the pardon for Eric’s Holder’s participation in Fast & Furious . . . .
