Good News, Bad News on the Price of Gas

Posted by Tina

First some good news : the price of gasoline is dropping like a rock. The price is still high compared to the average over the last decade but the relief sure feels good for Americans on a tight budget and for the carriers who bring our goods to market. The bad news is troubling on a global scale. High oil and gas production in America combined with lower consumption have created strong oil reserves…woo hoo, lower prices at the pump. But, if prices fall too low, production in states like Texas will slow and jobs will be lost. More bad news, Europe and China are looking like they will fall into recession which means our exports will fall as Europeans and the Chinese tighten their consumer belts. The flight of capital to safety has caused our dollar to rise in value. Investments in America the “safer haven” are being poured into real estate which doesn’t do a lot for jobs. Looming on the horizon a dispute. Some say, “Gang buster inflation is on the way.” Others say, “Naw! A gentle managed rise.” Some say, “Happy days are here again!” Others say, A bad crash is ahead.”

Add ISIS and EBOLA into the mix and I’m afraid the bad news is winning. If there is good news for Americans its that we are apt to be hard working and optimistic even during hard times. We’ve rolled with the punches and fought our way back to prosperity again and again in our brief history. Even at number 12 in terms of personal freedom the people continue to display the American spirit.

It’s time for change in leadership. It’s time for a change that recognizes and believes in the American people. Given new leadership that believes in the strengths of the people, spirited citizens will bring us back to prosperity again…just like oil producers have done in North Dakota. It’s time to let the people “build that!” Set them free!

So first it’s Obama’s fault that gas prices were too high, now it’s his fault that they’re too low.

Also, I like that the economic freedom index Breitbart cites lists the U.S. as lower than Canada, Switzerland, Australia, and Finland…all countries with higher minimum wages and better worker protections than the U.S.

Don’t worry, the price of gas will go up in January in Colliefornia (as Ahnode call it) when AB 32 kicks in.

As if forced minimum wage and worker protection was the key to a thriving economy.

Pull your head out! People don’t have to get stuck making minimum wage so the entry level rate makes little difference. Only 1.1 percent of the working population makes minimum wage. Most move onto a better paying job within one year. The unemployment and underemployment rate is much higher than that. Why are you not concerned about that? The wealthy 1% is making all the money in the Obama economy…why is that not making you angry?

I did not blame Obama for gas prices coming down (Gas prices are not “too low” by the way).

Clearly I wrote that private sector drilling and lower consumption were the main causes that created strong reserves which have driven prices down.

But as long as you brought it up specifically, Obama is where “the buck stops” so we can credit him for the deplorable conditions that have made gas prices high over the last six years and a lot of other things like the continuing sorry unemployment, underemployment, and employment drop out rates which are much more DRAMATIC and deplorable than the minimum wage rate or high gas prices.

MILLIONS of people cannot find work or are working part time when they want full time, or have given up finding work. People are hurting, including the business people who would like nothing more than to have the business that would prompt hiring!

You’re so “smart” you buy into the pathetic political distraction of raising the min wage. What a dope!

Use your bean…long before businesses can hire OR increase wages they have to have enough business and cash flow to pay for it! Hint: They don’t!!!

The man in charge has done a lot to destroy and blunt the businesses that hire the middle and lower classes in six years.

You should be really angry about the fact that the Obama economy has been good only for the RICH! But you don’t have the good sense, or the honesty, to see it much less admit that his policies are not working.

Keep the faith Chris. Bow down to the alter of socialism and central planning…it’s worked out so well for the 99% over the last six years.

  5. bob says:

Those planning to purchase health insurance on the Obamacare exchange will soon find out how much rates have increased — after the Nov. 4 election.

I would expect nothing else from Ebolabama.

Don’t tell Chris. It’s your very own Breitbart that’s turnin’ on ya.
