GOP DOES WHAT MANY VOTERS FEARED MOST

by Jack

A month ago the voters repudiated the failed spending policies of Obama and the Democrats which allowed the Republicans to regain control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.  Tuesday, a bi-partisan bill was signed that will increase the deficit by another 1.1 trillion dollars over the next 9 months.   Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada brokered the deal the help of House Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Whip, Mitch McConnell.

The question conservatives ought to be asking the GOP is, why?  Why didn’t you just fund the budget for another three weeks then when Harry Reid is gone, you could work on a real budget, one that wouldn’t add 1.1 trillion dollars to our deficit?    Now we are stuck with a deal for has Harry Reid all over it, and worse it’s adding another $8000 of debt per child who are already saddled with over $68,000 in debt, or 102% of our GDP.

By allowing spending beyond-our-means we are forcing our children to live under-their-means.

There was simply no reason for the GOP to make this bad deal with the Democrats.  The only reason that many of us are guessing, is they were afraid the Democrats would try to blame another government shut down on them?   If that weak threat was all it took, then don’t expect much from the GOP in 2015-16.

Only one month ago this was the platform that brought the GOP to power.  The voters gave them a thumbs up and a mandate to stop the overspending.   Now, at the first opportunity to honor their constituents wishes and their campaign promises they caved.   They voted to add another trillion in debt!   This will bring the total deficit to a shocking 18 trillion dollars.

There is no other way to say it, they sold out, they lied to the American people and they cut a lot of little deals with special interests in the process.   The conservatives who opposed them are at complete loss to explain why?  This includes local Congressman Tom McClintock of the 4th Congressional District.

As soon as the bill was signed, the outgoing Harry Reid turned on Republicans and accused  them providing pork to their Wall Street friends, “”Is there enough they can do to help Wall Street? I don’t think so. Big banks? I don’t think so.”

Democrats will wage “a new battle” with the GOP when the Senate reconvenes on Jan. 6 said Reid.  So much for bi-partisan cooperation.

Here is a list of the 67 House reps who voted against it and deserve our thanks. Doug LaMalfa is at the top of my list.

Here Are the 67 Republicans Who Voted Against the Massive ‘CRomnibus’ Spending Bill:

It is both funny and sad to see Warren, Pelosi and others acting like Tea Party members and Boehner supporting Obama.

We need Boehner removed as speaker and Trey Gowdy in his place.

  2. J. Soden says:

Boehner has contracted the dreaded Beltway Go-Along-to-Get-Along disease. The only cure is removal from office. Unfortunately, unless he’s recalled, he’s there for another 2 years.
Here’s hoping his office is flooded with calls of outrage from the folks in Ohio and they start a recall!
Memo to new House GOP members: Pick a new Speaker. This one’s outta warranty.

Thank you Jack and Peggy both. I am not a happy camper.

Pie, I’m right there with you too. This is a dark time for GOP history. The Republicans didn’t even have to wait the 3 weeks when they take control of the Senate before screwing up! They are amazing…but, I’m pleased to report that our local guys, Rep. Tom McClintock and Doug LaMalfa, were not swayed from their duty and they held fast to their nay vote.

  4. Chris says:

I don’t know much about this deal, but if the central complaint is that the Republicans are being too willing to compromise, then it can’t be that bad.

  5. Tina says:

Re: “…they were afraid the Democrats would try to blame another government shut down on them”

Which, as Rush pointed out, is exactly what the Democrats (along with some Republicans) that voted against this bill participated in…an attempt to shut down government.

Had the bill failed the government shut down would have begun immediately and the President would have been forced to choose again how to shut it down. Do you suppose he would have tried to close the military monuments or national parks?

I haven’t heard anyone in the left press explain it this way, has anyone else? Nope its all about bibartisan cooperation and patty cake, tra la!

I guess the leadership decided to extend an olive branch at the start rather than pick a fight they couldn’t win without a lot of bad press. Sure would be good if the leadership understood that the press ain’t what it used to be. someone needs to tell them that 70% of us get our information from the internet…the media has lost the control they once had. Won;t stop them from playing the game but they and we get feedback and alternative opinion now.

I don’t know what to think except that Republicans today do not have the votes to do what they say they would prefer to do.

I wonder who decided to create a budget that ends three weeks before the year end anyway. Nothing Congress does makes practical sense; it is all partisan and political.

I am reserving strong judgement for a year. I gave President Obama more than a year before strongly criticizing him; I can do no less for Republicans They should know that they are on notice. I sense a Tea Party response like the worlds never seen before if they don’t remember the swatting they received a few years back, recognize the mandate they’ve been given now, and address all of the issues that affect the economy, jobs and the safety America and her allies. These are the issues Americans care about most. The remedies that are needed cut across a broad path too.

  6. Steve says:

It’s easy enough to vote against the bill when leadership already has enough votes to pass it. The true test of our conservative congressmen will be in their willingness to vote for new leadership.

  7. TommyW39 says:

why did you guys miss the whole reason this was passed through? All candidates from both parties made their campaign fund payback. The bill is ALL Pork from both parties.

Boehner slipped in the worst of them all and until Senator Warren shouted from the mountain tops did anyone talk about it.

When Citicorp completely writes legislation and the speaker of the house slips it in at the last minute it shows the congress is working for the donors both parties.
